Is there anyway to waterproof your basement from the outside so this won’t happen again? (I don’t have a basement).

It is not possible to have fool proof water proofing. Mother nature can beat even the most prepared home owners. Many folks will paint water-blocking paint on walls to fight moisture but if the water table under you home is over saturated, water will find the path of least resistance. Maintaining your sump pump and restoring power is key

SO sorry for the delay in responding. Saving carpet after a lot of water is tough. Mold can grow fast. A pro flooring installer may be ablet to pull it and replace it but It is hard to extract large quantity of water and avoid mold.

Just leave it. Too expensive.
