    Love the Glock content, since they haven't been getting much love as of late (for understandable reasons). Sometimes new and shiny isn't the answer for people who take their self-defense seriously. This just proves to me that people prefer reliability and customization is king, not capacity.

    • @LWRoad
      @LWRoad  Před rokem +1

      AND how difficult reliability is to achieve, we started to take it for granted with Glock being so commonplace and ubiquitous, perhaps there's a growing realization once again of it's uniqueness. Thank you so much for the support, Y T has been demonetizing me recently, this helps

      @BlueRidgeCritter Před rokem +1

      I totally agree, as do a lot of other Glock people. Innovation usually comes at the cost of reliability. And none of the other brands (in over 30 years, I've shot a lot of pistols, and owned a lot of them), I have never had any that I trusted more than boring Glocks. Yes, there are some that have a lot more features, and there are things that I wish Glock would do a little differently. But all in all, I like them like they are. All of my Glocks shoot the same, function the same, and feel the same (even across different sizes in calibers, a Glock is still a Glock). I don't have to retrain, I can keep spare parts and keep the gun running, and have 100% confidence in it working if I ever need it to. I'm not saying there's not other good ones out there, and I do own others, but they all have their places. Some shoot better, some shoot faster, some have more capacity. But 40 years of reliability means something to me when I'm protecting me and my family.

    PSA has said the Micro Dagger 15-round polymer G43X/G48 magazine will drop around SHOT Show next month. Of course, the Micro Dagger magazine will be compatible with the OEM polymer magazine release (no aftermarket steel magazine release necessary). If the Micro Dagger magazine proves to be as reliable as an OEM Glock magazine, it will elevate the G43X (and G48) to a whole new level.

      That sounds like it might be worth looking into. If it becomes a thing, I would love to know people's thoughts on it. I've shot the Glock 19 and enjoyed it, but I'm unsure if I would be able to carry it concealed since I'm fairly small and it's a bigger gun. IDK.

      @@LWRoad I'm somewhat intrigued by both the 43X and the 48, although IIRC I might have had trouble racking the 43X whereas I haven't had trouble with the 19 in that regard. I haven't had a chance to get a closer look at the 48 to see if there is a difference with that one, but I do think the longer barrel will help with accuracy (I suspect that's part of why I did pretty good with the P365XL and not its 9mm little brother). I know the 19 is supposed to be the gold standard for a reliable all-purpose/multi-use gun, and I can definitely see why (I'm honestly thinking of saving up for a gen 4 myself, even if I'm not quite sure how I would pull off carrying it IWB just yet). As for the current S15 mags for the 43X and 48, I'm not sold on those yet since I get the impression that they are a mixed bag. But I hope that something does come along to either remedy that or serve as an alternative, since it would be great to have the option of 15 rounds in the smaller Glock if for no other reason than to give us more choices.

      But capacity was what made Glock. Full size guns at the time it was introduced like the Sig P226, Beretta 92 and Smith and Wesson 5906 had 15 round capacities. Sure, there were oddballs like the Steyr GB but weren't successful. Glock's full size had 17. Glock put 15 rounds in a COMPACT size, the G19 when its contemporaries like the P228 and 3906 only had 13. That was innovation and why the G19 was the gold standard for carry for decades. Same with the G22/G23 when .40 was being adopted even beating the round's creator Smith and Wesson to the punch. Then they came out with the G21, a .45 acp pistol that doubled the capacity of a 1911 and Sig P220 but with Glock durability and relibility. Finally the G20, a useful .10 mm pistol with 15 rounds was icing on the cake. But that was all before the year 2000. Now they're falling behind other companies like Sig, Smith, Springfield and Ruger who are putting out micro compacts with more capacity, more features, better ergonomics and equal reliability. Hell, how do you not have a 10+ magazine for your .22 pistol when Sig, Taurus and mf'ing Kel Tec have been able to put out products with double that capacity just a short time after the G44's release. It's almost as if Gaston Glock has turned into Bill Ruger in his old age with a resistance to change.

      @@Ideo7Z but, are they really equal in reliability? One thing about Glock, and their lack of change, is 40 years of reliability. That's one thing that scares me, when the reigns get handed over, and I'm sure somebody will start "innovating", is that it's going to destroy what many of us consider to be the best parts of Glock. I would rather they stay the same, and keep what they have, and let the other manufacturers make the fun range toys. There's plenty of room for everybody.

Apex trigger and connector, Nightfison sights, shield mags and mag catch. So almost $1100 + to make it "better"! The 365 Macro out of the box with the Holosun is about the same cost with 17 round mags and shoots amazing. You can't beat the modularity of the 365 platform to make it fit you. I ended up taking the Macro slide and putting on the XL grip frame (12 + 1) to carry. Love how it carries and shoots. My G19 is my do all home defense gun, but in the carry world, the 365 platform is hard to beat. I did find that having the shield 15+1 in the 43X got pretty heavy to carry as the day went on. In regards to the shield arms magazines. I get lots of mixed reviews online from people. A person's experience is not something I can argue with. But I have the 43x, the original with the silver slide up top. I got an aluminum mag release and a couple of shield arms magazines. I have test fired three different types of hollow points and full magazines Plus One in the chamber, and a lot of full metal jackets through the shield arms magazines and I have never had a malfunction. I also rapid fire. Now I did try shield arms magazine extension, which would give you 20 rounds. That issues with that setup malfunctioning on two or three occasions. So now I just use it at the firing range versus self defense. But every time I shoot my 43x I make sure I shoot at least two full mags out of the shield arms magazine. @Mark Tanner I had a g43x mos and a g48 mos both with SA mag catch and 10 S15 mags (5 of each gen). Had 1 or 2 failures during the first 500 rds, but after the mags had more than 500 rds each, that's when the failures really started. Specifically, the round would nose dive under the feed ramp, and I'd have to force strip the mag out. I had more failures with the gen 2 mags.
      I put a couple thousand rounds through the guns completely stock, and not one hiccup.
      At this point, considering all the complaints from lots of other users, these mags are not viable for carry.
