    Before you cut the old gutter to length, make sure it fits into any other union or running outlet. Might just need re positioning

    "Here's a seal ! " Reminds me of Blue Peter and Play School "Here's one we made earlier !" 😅 Amazing how you just happen to have a seal 😊

    I think it's a mistake to use sealant. The gutter needs to expand & contract in the fitting, but sealant will lock it in place. Just put a new seal in IIWY.

      OB1 sealant will flex and is perfect for this type of job where slight expansion can occur...

      @@PaintingandDecorating The whole reason you shortened the gutter length is to allow sufficient expansion. The OB1 won't allow that much expansion

    Put a screw in the union otherwise it will leak under continuous strain from rain water. And the union should have rubber gaskets in not just some silicone.
    Far easier to replace old union for a new one at a cost of around £3

    Really not worth messing around, union brackets are less than £3!
    Can tell by the easy way the clip snapped on, that there's not much meat on that gasket for it to clamp tight.

    Dear sir could you give me advice on how to use dulux easycare with a brush I found that the paint is dragging when you blend in and pulling the previous brush strokes off making patches. I have watered it down slightly but it is still doing it , I hope the next coat rectifies this . I am painting fresco paper Thank you.

    The sealant that you used was probably more expensive than a new union

    Surely it would be easier to put a brand new joining bracket on the spend time cleaning it and siliconing one side

      Not really... this fix will last for years... extra time wasted going getting one and fuel.. fix and repair will always save you money.. people just want easy fix even if it costs them more money... and trust me the way thinks are going we all need to save..

    A new seal does not always work, ive found even a new fitting can leak,annoying when youve put new joints on.

    The labour involved in messing about cleaning the old bracket etc really isn't worth it. Better to just buy a new coupler and change it.
    I've never seen this sort of repair to last long term no matter what sealant etc used.
    If I had to do a quick fix then In my opinion denso tape is hard to beat and will cope with expansion and contraction.

    • @PaintingandDecorating
      @PaintingandDecorating  Před 2 lety +4

      It is these days.. tape would look terrible.

    • @paulf2529
      @paulf2529 Před 2 lety +1

      The denso tape goes inside the joint so you would never see it.
