    Finally! a video that tells me whether I need to leave an expansion gap on the stop end that goes up against the wall. 👍

      The end stop will have a line inside of it telling you how far to insert the gutter length. It allows for an expansion gap.

    Did mine on a 12 ft timber shed. I put a water butt under the downpipe for collecting rainwater. The string tip is a great idea (make sure the your baseboard is level) Works a treat. Well designed products.

    Hi, great instrucrion video, thank you. You didn't mention how to secure the downpipe clips i.e. into the brick or into the mortar? And whether you recommend rawlplugs or or going straight in with tapcons or self tappers etc. Please can you advise?

    • @ML-ck4yp
      @ML-ck4yp Před rokem

      Securing in to brick is stronger and will last longer and use plugs. I see many installs where brackets have been secured to mortar but they always seem to fail eventually and I repair them. You can use downpipe brackets that only need one screw in the middle which speeds things up and is more simple if doing this on your own without extra hands. Get your brackets in line first and then the downpipe can be inserted afterwards and brackets clipped shut. If using brackets with two screws you would need to put the downpipe in pace first and fit the bracket around the downpipe. Key point is to always use appropriate plugs for the screw size you are using with the correct size hole drilled out.

    The result of stringlining into the outlet is that the line rests on the rubber seal which, upon installation, is compressed and this results in an increased fall between the final bracket and the outlet. I note you make this symmetrical by having an approximately 1mm fall (in 200mm ish = 1:200?) on the short section of gutter on the other side of the running outlet. To me the increased fall looks wrong, but I wonder if this is for a technical reason?
    What I don't understand is why a quality manufacturer such as OSMA forces installers to rely on eyeballing (6:02) the union bracket to ensure correct alinement. It would be great if a manufacturer would consider a way that the position of the union bracket could easily be marked to be precisely in line with the run of the gutter (perhaps the bottom of the union bracket might finish in line with the bottom of the adjacent support brackets?). Perhaps that might be a future project for your R&D department?

    Thank you for this helpful video... I just wondered how you calculate the mathematics for the fall gradient of the guttering. Do you times the length of the gutter by the 1.6 mm rule or is it another equation to reach the total overall fall? I am finding that part of my project rather challenging so any advice would be very much appreciated🤔?

    What if the fascia board is not level and youre measuring from the bottom for your fall?

    • @maurice1606
      @maurice1606 Před 4 lety +5

      Then don't measure from the bottom: disregard the fascia and draw a new baseline using a level of some kind.

    Ye should make it mandatory for installation companies to watch the 1.6 mm per m slope!

  • @alinazir5485
    @alinazir5485 Před 7 lety

    It should be 5 brackets on a guttering with it being 600 mm apart each bracket and also 1mm drop every bracket and it should have a fall of 5mm on other end

      Sorry, your figures don't make sense. At 2:38 the installer quotes the correct recommended fall and the maximum distance apart for brackets that Wavin stipulate.

    Why measure on a slack plumbline?

    • @WavinCoUK
      @WavinCoUK  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you for your comment. The plumbline is tied to the outlet at 4:42 and the furthest bracket fitted at 4:20. Did you have another question about this installation?

    • @maurice1606
      @maurice1606 Před 4 lety

      @@WavinCoUK You're missing the point. The line shown at 4:42 and 4:20 is just the string for aligning the intermediate brackets. billsbasementworkshop is referring to the plumbline at 3:43, which is slack. However, I think the explanation for that is that in that shot, you can just see the installer letting go the line where he was holding it up against the wall, having judged by eye where it lines up on the fascia.
