    Thanks for the tip. I will get a new end cap as suggested. The old gasket is not very pliable.

      Hello John, whole 'stop end' sections including new gasket, are retailing for as little as £2 from local hardware stores (e.g. screw fix). Please consider appropriate safety precautions if you plan to work at height. Thanks
