There isn't much in the way of those gen 5 mags you could just dremmel into the well enough for it to fit all gen mags without changing plates. Or just cut off that lip entirely
So many retards think Glock has created something brand new to the world of firearms with this model 19x......700 dollars for a glock 19 with a glock 17 frame???? Rofl.
According to Larry Vickers and some inside info that he had, the Glock was beaten by SIG at the end because of cost. As far as performance went it actually outperformed the SIG, but the SIG was good enough and cheaper so that's that.
2 years later & a lot of people consider this among the best pistols ever made.

Just gotta wait a few days I'm super excited to go shoot it and use it as my hunting sidearm. I have a G48 and a G43 so now I will have a full/compact size, compact size and subcompact. Gotta love it

Confession time.... I've never been a Glock hater BUT never carried or owned one and had only shot em UNTIL I put this one in my hand. It changed my mind and I fell completely in love with it.. it's my favorite pistol now. I was a Springfield guy for years but now I'm a Glock guy as weird as that is to say

I used to be very critical of Glock. There are two things that have changed my mind. Product reviews like this have changed my mind. You make excellent videos. Secondly, I've been working at a gun store and have had plenty of time to handle Glocks. I've realized that Glock makes a fine product. The Glock 19X is my first Glock. I have to say that it's a very nice pistol. Keep up the great videos.

Picked up a 19X for $599. There is definitely something different about this gun, I picked it up and couldn’t put it back down I carry a gen 4 G26 or G19, but this is different. The trigger is definitely a Glock trigger, yet something about it feels better, not drastic, but noticeably better. Great review!
I only wish the 19x were that cheap. Here in Canada they are $869. I mean yeah our health care kicks the shit outta the American healthcare but our guns are super over priced
@@windwalker2731 the guns in Canada are about the same price as they are in America. It's because the Canadian dollar is worth less. 1.4 to 1 ratio. $600 G19X in America multiplied by 1.4 is $840. So basically the same price lol. With transfer fees I got my G19x for $640, so $896 in Canadian money

Just got home from purchasing this Glock 19x. Sitting in my chair unboxing it while watching this video. Sootch00 you’re the one that influenced my purchase. Thanks for your awesome videos. Your my favorite.
Very nice review! I own an original Glock 19 that has never failed through about 100K rounds. It is a daily carry IWB and is extremely comfortable. There are two features of the 19X that I would like to have on my original, the fall free mags and the rail on the underside of the frame. As a much younger man (about 38 yrs as opposed to my current 70 yrs) I used this weapon on hit reactive bobber targets on range #3, Ft. Meade, MD to great success out to 750 yards. The 124 gr Hydro-Shock rounds required placing the front sight base at the top of the rear sight and then holding over about 12' for consistent hits. The 19X appears to have all of the improvements that even us older guys would appreciate!

For all of the haters out there - I've carried a Glock since 1993 as a duty weapon and for personal defense. From my experience, they are the most reliable handgun out there, except for a wheel gun, which I carried as a duty weapon for four years before making the transition to the semi auto. I've fired Smith's, Walthers, Sigs and the like. The big difference for me is the simplicity of the Glock. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)! I currently have a Gen 3, which is my all time favorite. No need to "upgrade" though. I think they got it right with that model. Just my humble opinion.

The only reason Sig won was because they underbid it by like 100 million... plain and simple they were the cheaper contract. Glock is so much better in my opinion. I love mine

I can't believe they did that. That's an incredible amount of money to lose. (Or not gain). Not surprised though given Sigs reputation for poor quality control. This is good for us shooters. Because it forces Glock to depend on the public for money.

All Glock Generation 17 rd magazines will work. Gen 5 17 rd mags will need to have an original base plate installed to work.
I thought the same thing when Sootch said they wouldn't fit... only reason was the extended base plate and that can be fixed.

This means that the MAGAZINE will work, but not the BASEPLATE
See those words? they mean things. You can't just make things up in your head to fit whatever you're trying to say. The magazines work. The baseplates do not.
Aaaaand the baseplates are a removable part. Which is whyyyyyyy you can switch them out and they work. 3 dollar baseplate or 25 dollar magazine. You pick.

@Tyler Herndon I've always loved the look of glocks. Ordered a G19x online the other day for my new hunting sidearm. I currently carry a G48 and G43 for public places and the woods. For the G19x the Iron night sights and higher capacity mags are better suited for the woods and would definitely fair better in a coyote or cougar attack. Plus I can share magazines with my UDP-9 PDW if I'm using that as a primary with the G19x as a secondary

This Glock 19X has all the stuff you want on a glock 19. Plus it comes with one 17 round mag and 2 19 round mags. Also iron sights with 4 back straps and a cool bronze color, what more do you want from Glock. Long live the republic Sootch00.

How could they NOT make the normal mags compatible. That's one of the best things about glock... the mags work everywhere.

Agreed, I think this is just about useless. Looks cool but short slide on a long frame? You would have to buy 3 glocks to get all the features the gen 5 should have. Also when everyone's doing front serrations I can't understand why the 19x wouldn't have them, or gen 5 for that matter.

I use this as my current duty firearm. I put an NDZ steel guide ride in as well as a custom slide plate. When i replaced the slide plate i verified that it has factory Glock maritime cups already installed! Great Glock!

We need a GLOCK 17X Carry. 17 slide with the 19 frame. Love everything about this 19X model except the frame grip length. No real reason to get this if you have a 17 but it sure looks cool. Come on GLOCK, make me buy another Glock.

It is a stupid statement. For example, a reflex is a movement that is beyond you control. If your finger is a safety, then you do not have control of your safety.
A real safety is not affected by emotions, fear, anger... etc. Your mind and finger are. During times of extreme stress we lose fine motor control. So during times of extreme stress you lose control of your finger safety.
Your reply is an excellent example of the problem. You think that you can defy body mechanics, and its just not possible. Do you control your reflexes? Nope. Do you jump when something scares you? Yep. A safety is a mechanical device. Your finger is flesh and bone and can not be a safety.
It seems a lot of people confuse safely using something with a safety feature. Keeping your finger off the trigger is using the gun safely. Using something safely, is not the same as a safety device.

🤔 Something tells me that Glock was confident they were going to win the military contract, so much so that they jumped the gun(no pun intended)and started mass-producing the model. The 3 things that bring me to this conclusion is color scheme, as we seem to be deployed in and near desert theaters for the most part. The second would be the lanyard loop integrated from the factory. Third would be the metal sites as standard equipment. Glock was not about to lose money over 2nd place finish, so they ended up making lemonade. If my theory IS accurate, it’s the best possible blunder they could’ve ever hoped for because this model is going to sell like hot cakes.

Love both the 19x and g45 but there’s something about the g45 that I just really like. I own both and actually ended up turning the g45 into a 19x by adding the +2 oem mag extensions, oem lanyard loop, Glock night sights, Glock maritime spring cups and oem extended controls. After making them basically identical, I still gravitate towards the g45. Not sure why. But you can’t go wrong with either. Great video!

Your review is professional & no nonsense. In fact I've seen only a few unbiased detailed analyses conducted this well. I'm a Sig Sauer & Desert Eagle fan but by demonstration you've sold me on this Glock.
I have my favorite Glock handgun. The 3rd Generation Glock 17. They keep trying and trying to improve it but theres no improvements that can be made on perfection

faraway daddy The ones that aren't sitting around in an armory or being used have been given to partner nations. They'll probably have the P320s before all the Army gets there hands on them. Was that way with M4s.
Carried an M9 in Marines. Not that great. Cool they are metal. But old as hell. Military grade aka junk and was cheapest weapon they could buy in bulk.
They'll probably arm some more ISIS members with it.
I'll stick with the M&P m2.0 in f.d.e , looks better and feels better

It's a Glock that doesn't take Glock mags.
Actually if you switch out the Gen 5 base plates to the originals they will work. All other Gen magazines are compatible

Sootch I am glad you like it , but the incremental arbitrary changes without addressing the platform's main problems is exactly why shooters like me have left Glock behind.
As a whole It's not bad , but one should strive for more than just "not bad" , ESPECIALLY if your sales copy is "Glock Perfection".
The design has NINE major issues which could easily be overcome if not for their insistence their egos being more important than requirements:
1:The front lip on the frame is unwanted as it precludes some magazines form working.
2:There is no easy way to strip a stuck magazine out of the frame.
4:The ambidextrous slide catch levers is a step in the right direction marred/ made completely moot by the fact that they are tractionless and near flush to the frame making it a poor choice to either manually hold the slide open or close the open action. the part may be ambi but it is also vestigial at best .
5: The trigger guard is still too small for gloved hands / cold weather use.
6:The trigger guard is not undercut so regular use will give the operator a blister on the shooter's middle finger like all unmodified factory Glocks.
7: Even at the detriment of a large portion of their consumers and behest of the US Army Glock is still stubbornly insistent upon placing that ridiculous useless hump at the back of their frames even though a cottage industry has sprung up to reduce / negate that hump and it's effects on grip angle.
8: This stems from problem 7. The needed inclusion of added backstraps to place a beavertail unto the frame , the beavertail should be a base part of the frame ESPECIALLY for US Army use. Your sidearm should be usable by ALL soldiers in time of need without the worry of slide bite no matter what their hand size is.
9: The magazine release is not ambidextrous , it is "either / or". The cottage Upgrade industry has already alleviated this problem in the Gen 3 Glock pistols, there is no excuse for Glock as a company not to implement this.
Glock for the past 30+ years has steadfastly placed their egos above practical design evolution and for this the cottage aftermarket upgrade industry has solved almost all of these issues that the Glock has always come standard with. An entire industry was created to fix what the factory offerings REFUSED to.
When a Polymer 80 , an 80% aftermarket Gen 3 Glock 19 frame *that the user must cut themselves* solves 90% or more of the aforementioned problems / is a more practical common sense option as opposed to the factory which originally designed the firearm in the first place , you have the prime definition of a GLARING lack of both paying attention to customer feedback and a lackadaisical attitude towards ergonomics and R&D.
ALL of these problems could be easily solved.
There is no excuse for Glock's hubris.

I don’t know why people complain about the standard plastic Glock sights. They cost you about $5. If you change them, you’re out $5. If you don’t like the sights this gun comes with and you change them, you’re out $75. Glock gives you all but free sights knowing everyone has their preferred sights that you’ll want on the gun anyway.
Im 6'6 with big as hands Thank you Glock for bringing this to market. The grip length was the main thing that kept me from picking up a 19 previously. With the longer yet more narrow grip this is a Glock im actually looking forwards to. Thanks for the review Sootch00!!

Law enforcement has been using guns without external safeties (Glocks, revolvers) for years. Why would they US military need an external safety?

Sig only got the contract because they gave the military a lower price.
If you put an Apex trigger in the p320, ok... I can at least start to understand. But the high bore axis of the p320 makes it a much more difficult gun to shoot, in my opinion.

Thanks Steve! Yes, it's compatible with all OEM mags, it's just the base Plate on the Gen 5 and can be replaced with originals. Always appreciated Brother!

The glock 19X would be a great replacement for the ADF Brownings. You forgot to mention the maritime spring cups lol which allows them to fire underwater. A tried and tested design with no need for an external safety nice review.
