English media is extremely disrespectful to other leagues. Madrid beat the top 3 teams in our league and the best team in France. Yet somehow they are not up to par in our eyes. Madrid won and were deserved winners of the final. Hard to argue that currently they aren’t the best team in Europe.

Bs you can't compare the premier league to other second rate leagues....sure Madrid won the champions league but who do they play levante who have an annual salary of benzema salary ( per year) .......that league is dying a cup competition is different.... outside the top 6 in LA Liga the other teams are just getting through some of those teams don't even make a profit....there average salary of those players are almost half of the premier league
Would hardly say they were "desrved" winners as Liverpool were all over them for the majority of the game but came up against an inspired courtois in goal but that is the sport we love, you never know what's going to happen and that's what makes football great for me. In saying that, madrid gave everything in battling to stay in the game and took their chance when it came. Tough to call but as I said, that's football. Depends sometimes what you respect more, attacking dominance or defensive masterclasses with players putting everything on the line. We should just debate it, not fall out about it and just love the game we all adore

So let me get this straight. Real Madrid beats PSG, Chelsea, Man City to get to the final and then beats Liverpool. Liverpool beats Benfica, Inter and Villareal to get to the final and then they lose to Real Madrid. Real Madrid win their league and Liverpool lose their league against Manchester City who where beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League. But Liverpool are the best team in Europe... Seems like a stretch to me, but ok.

What Simon was trying to say and get this in your sheeple, linear, one thought at a time brain is that cup competitions necessarily don't always reveal the best team. That claiming the best team in the world is a lot more nuanced than just a cup win. And there is your tea in China.
RM is an amazing team and it did very well in La Liga and did marvelous in Champions League. And his point was Liverpool at this point in time, this season are a better team than RM despite the CL final. That if RM and LFC played a best of 7 series, LFC would win it out. That RM wouldn't win the PL if they were here and LFC would win La Liga if they were in Spain. That is the point. Let me guess, your first thought is, how do you know?? But what thought process or “experiments” are you using. LFC didn’t beat the top 4 teams in the EPL. But in the past 21 years Spanish teams have faced non Spanish teams 17 times in finals and NEVER lost. City and LFC need strikers DESPERATELY. They also need to figure out why they can’t beat Italian managers/styles. Been watching this sport for 35+ years. Only in the last few years because of Klopp and Pep, the PL is no longer shipping sits best and brightest to La Liga and Serie A. In fact the last few seasons, we have been sending them our busts. Can you imagine City holding on to KDB 10 yeas ago? Last ones we sent were Coutinhio and Hazard and look how they ended up? Aubameyang was persona non grata. He ends up in La Liga.
PL is now the destination for the best and the brightest around the world. That is why Haaland is here. And it has gotten there without its two big dogs of the latter years, Arsenal and Utd. You could never say that for 30+ years. PL was a feeder to Serie A in the 80s and 90s and then to La Liga. PL mid tanle teams are getting to top teams in La Liga and their top level players are ending up at Aston Villa. And thios didn't happen under Fergie or Wenger or Mourinho. It happened under Klopp and Pep and now Conte joins them.
LFC doesn't do well against low block teams. That is clear as sky and needs to be addressed. They however don't loose either. I dont think Spurs and Conte can mattch that.
Inter won 2010 CL. Bayern won in 2013. But the best teams in the world were RM and Barca at that time. Both RM and Barca lost in SF to Bayern and BVB in 2013 but they were still the better sides. There was no teddy bear for La Liga. It was simply known that they had a bad year is all. Same for this CL side in PL.

Pundits are not psychic, they make calls based on what we see and what we saw from madrid was they were beaten by farmers sheriff this season, they lost 3 times in only 6 knockout games, liverpool had lost 3 games in 60 prior to the final, now while 3-0 may be far fetched, i dont think it was bias or anything else to predict a liverpool win before the final, congrats to madrid, they executed a game plan, relied on Curtoius who lets not forget was MOTM but not taking anything away from there win, they had some amazing come backs and deserve to be champions of europe, but there game style tells you how much they respected Liverpool and that this is far from a vintage Madrid of yester years.

City spent £100 million last season. Most big clubs spent more. United have spent over the years since Fergie left and what have they got to show for it? Anyone who bawls about money is just bitter. Liverpool's centre half costs more than any of City's, the goalkeeper costs more than any of City's. City have to work within the constrains of a budget that is lower than Man United's. The money City spend is earned from sponsors, TV rights and winning trophies, not from the owner so it's the club's right to spend it and spend it wisely.

History won't be kind to the liverpool team of the last 5yrs. Last 5ys will be remembered for City Dominance. Been a Liverpool fan for 44yrs since 6yrs old and no one really remembers the great Everton team of 80s, just the great Liverpool team.. They had a chance but losing two CL finals and missing out on 2 league titles has cost them their place in history. If they won just one more each of those two competitions then yes people would remember. Cannot lose two out three CL finals and take a place in history as Liverpool greatest. It's a shame because this team deserved more.

I can't fathom how there would be any debate for Liverpool to be the best team in Europe. I can understand a debate for City despite the fact that they lost over two legs to Madrid but Liverpool didn't win anything of note and finished behind Man City in the league. In the end, Real Madrid won both their league and the UCL beating City and Liverpool no less, so they're the best team in Europe.
