As a Liverpool fan, I love that Liverpool got Real Madrid. If you are a genuine contender and you want to win the cup, you have to defeat the best teams at some point, so I'm happy to just deal with it. Easy cup runs are for losers: teams that have an easier run to a final tend to lose it. It is because they are less prepared than their final opponent. Teams that had a more difficult run to a final had the repeated practice of 'digging deep' and that bodes well in a final. Having said that, if Liverpool does not buy at least one very good midfielder in Jan, then they will have great difficulty dealing with RM, who as it stands now are favourites IMO.

My claim may be axiomatic, but I suggest comparing the eventual winner of several years in the UCL. Then compare the finalists' route to that final. Take the 2005 UCL final, where a far inferior LFC battled AC Milan to win (albeit on penalties); Liverpool had a Cup run which included the eventual Serie A and Premier League Champions that stretched them far more than AC Milan's run did that season. LFC had to dig deeper more often, and it prepares you better for a final. Same with Barcelona when they beat Man U in 2009 when Man U's cup run was comparatively easier. In 2022 Real Madrid defeated LFC (who were favourites), and RM had a much more difficult route to the final, digging deep again and again. In contrast, LFC's route to the final was comparatively more comfortable. Thus, show me a fan who wants an easy cup run that gets it, and I'll show you who is the more likely loser. An easy cup run will always bring in more money to the club and give an inexperienced team much-needed learning and development, but necessarily the trophy.

Actually I am very happy playing Real Madrid. Yes they recent success over us but last season’s final was purely down to the heroics of Thibaut Courtois in goals for R.M. If he can perform the same heroics over 2 legs then I will take my hat off to him. We are eventually due a win. At the moment the major is which Liverpool team turns up.
