Dammmnnnn!!!!! Those last verses of Floor! That has to be one of the most beautiful things I've heard in music. Did you see the joy on her face?! Incredible. Just freaking incredible. Floor doesn't just "interact" with the crowd, she has a love affair with the crowd... In the most heart warming and tasteful of ways of course. Wow!
I think this song is the perfect example of Nightwish being better live than studio. The song, the lyrics and the structure are quite good on studio version but the energy and the emotions given by Floor, Marko and Kyle in Buenos Aires are incredible. The tone and the dialog between Floor and Marko make the song alive.
This song is an absolute banger 🤘😎🤘.
Kai's drumming on this is just crazy ( Kai Hahto "The Human Metronome", or in my book Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto )!!!
In one interview Tuomas/Marko said that Floor has a lungs of a dolphin (That long note is 💥)!!!

I really enjoy your reactions with your musician's point of view. You always share something about a song that I didn't know. You are spot on about Kai. Not a showman, but a really fantastic drummer. One thing I love about Kai is that he always seems happy to be there. Always a big smile on his face. Kai and Jukka are good friends and Jukka recommended Kai when he had to step down. They have an older song from Imaginaerum called Slow Love Slow, and Kai taught Jukka how to play the more jazzy drums for that song. Kai also shared that he had trouble learning what he calls the "weird middle part" of Storytime. He said he learned to play it by watching NW videos. I thought your score would be a little bit higher with all the enthusiasm you showed during the song. But you've explained how they have set the bar pretty high for themselves. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs. Thanks for another great reaction. And thanks to both Home Gnome and Patronly Patron as well.

What a great reaction! you looked just as confused as I felt when Floor shot her voice through the ceiling. this was something absolutely amazing and one of my favorite songs, for sure. thank you for giving honor to other NW members as well. without each of them this would not have become a masterpiece.
As a suggestion, listen to the album version for yourself. It's one of their early songs, and only Tuomas and Emppu are the same for this performance. The song is recognizable, but is also completely different. The sheer amount of changes they've made to update the song from their old days for their more experienced, changed and additional band members now is impressive, and I think you'd appreciate the chance to compare. It's a good chance to peek in the Nightwish kitchen, so to speak.
That having been said, I think I prefer this version with Marko and Floor on vocals (and bass).

You touched on something that myself and a lot of others have noticed about floor...... This is definitely something which separates her from a lot of other singers out there it's the fact that she can just go from one style of singing to the next absolutely seamlessly....... And that's nothing you can measure you can talk about vocal range and stuff like that but floors ability to go really high and then low in one second it's kind of mind-blowing........
And to think she wasn't even 100% healthy in that concert, she was recovering from a flu

Ah, that may explain why Floor was only 98.5 percent pitch perfect. You really need to listen very carefully but in the lower registers she nearly misses two or three notes although she captures herself and corrects in a fraction of a second. And, no, it certainly weren't deliberate slides. She may have a sliver of human DNA in her after all. 😊

I agree with Nightwish's drummers. Both are very skilled, but I like how Jukka performs to the audience. And clearly enjoys playing the drums.
This Nightwish song is old, from their second album ("Oceanborn"), released in December 1998. Tuomas was only 21 years old when he wrote the songs on the album! At this time, they did not yet have an orchestra in the background. It only came on from the fourth album.
But in the studio, the violin was played on this album by their school-time music teacher !!!
Personally, I like this 2018 version with Floor and Marko more than the original one. This just fits better in my taste in music and in my ears.

I'm not really into music (Asperger's stuff), but I have a few bands I listen to every now and then. Nightwish is one of them, and this is my favorite song. Thank you for explaining what's going on with the drums there, that's really cool to know.

Thanks again Home Gnome! I always win arguments, especially with myself. Did you catch those measures of 10/8 after the epic high note from Floor. I am not sure there is a traditional chorus to this song. I agree, but I think Kai is just kind of an introverted personality. This is a very Finnish type of personality trait.

I have a theory about Kai's showmanship style without REALLY knowing. I'm thinking that he's very much a speed metal type of drummer which consists of a lot of rapid double bass playing which requires you to balance yourself on the thrown. Your feet really don't hold you up when you're dong that so you need to maintain good posture to balance yourself and to use your arms for fills. That's my theory. He's amazing!
Floor always seems to pull some Gode Mode level vocal moments.
The pace and precision from the whole band is awesome!
This one is definitely in my top 5 of all Nightwish's repertoire. The difference between this version with Floor and Kai, and the album version is stunning. To me, the album version is just average, but with Kai and Floor, it is taken to another level.

Since Floor joined the crew in 2012, this band just keeps better and better. Old songs that Tarja did (and Anette too) all sound funny now, just not good enough. Floor is doing so much more, and the whole band improved so much more too. They are really amazing, best symphonic metal band ever. I hope for a reaction to The Poet and the Pendulum, live from Vehicle of Spirit-there is a version with lyrics-those lyrics are really a masterpiece that will blow your mind bro. Take care

I'm not a musician, but I'd imagine it's not easy to play with a backing track. It doesn't forgive mistakes. Respect to Jukka and Kai! :)
It doesn't forgive at all. The track will always be flawless, which means you need to be flawless as well. And believe me, when you're not flawless....it's noticeable.
@@THEDavidHeretic Which tells me how devoted every single member of Nightwish, past and present, are to their own craft. I have seen them live about 15 times (the first one was in 2008), and only once I have seen them screw up. Well, actually, it was Marco. He forgot the lyrics of The Islander because he was drunk. He quit drinking a few months after that and has never touched the bottle again. :)
I believe Nightwish has a reputation of an excellent live band, and it's well earned. Years of practise and a good friendship inside the band shows. :)

I'm pleased! :) Since this is a Nightwish-reaction, I'd like to recommend a song by The 3rd and the Mortal without whom there would be no Nightwish-reactions at all, simply because, as Tuomas Holopainen said in a comment about their debut album "Tears Laid in Earth", "Nightwish wouldn’t exist without this band." In his comment, Tuomas also said: "I was 17 years old when I heard a song called Why So Lonely on the radio in Finland. There was a lot of darkness in my life at that point, and I related to that. And the next week I went out and bought the CD. It took me to a whole different world - it was so beautiful and so dark." Great reaction and score! I do get the feeling that the Kai's brand identity as the NW drummer is developing and aligning with the brand of the band as time goes by, e.g. in the Noise official video and during the on-line concerts.

Woke up early, & nice surprise, a new NIGHTWISH drop from YOU! You always say “hope you enjoyed the show “, so thought I might review you today. You excited…… maybe worried?! 😉 Firstly I loved this screen background. It seems the darker hues highlights you, & doesn’t distract from the video. It was very pleasant to view for a period of time. Of course you know you are a showman, & why you expect the same from what you review. I love your animation, whichever way it goes, 🤙🏼👎🏼, but if you get on a high from my favorite band, led by the the composing genius of Tuomas, & the best female singer of our time, Floor Jansen, (my locked in opinion😎) it is the most fun half an hour of any day. I eagerly await a good piggy 🐷 fight between you, & your complaining cohort, accented by a gruff sounding exclamation guy! Love the tears, (none today) exclamations on music highlights, which are many with this special band, but whatever your feelings, & explanations, it is always a learning, & emotional ride with you.
So thank YOU, DH, it’s going to be a good day starting with this, & a 70’s degree day coming in the middle of February.... uh which scares me as to what the Texas summer will bring, LOL. Last week was worried about freezing, & a crummy electrical grid? I use to love the hotter, the better, but not so much in my old age. Don’t really know their work well enough to suggest any songs, & know your top tier pick the songs anyway, which I am usually quite happy with, but I would really like to hear your opinion of them. They of course are very good, but quite different than NW. Maybe someone has it on their list. Can you keep an eye out for one? 🤓

a bit over the top, as always, but your insight is appreciated. as far as Kai? dudes been on the nightwish wagon almost 8 years,, he's settled, comfortable, , WYSIWYG i'm a foot tapper and i have found my self off a few times in NW songs when Kai would do the switch from down to up beat , or vise versa..and dear Floor?..her contribution to Tuomas' composing realm is yet to be fully revealed,, we keep getting more and more..

Floor is officially down as having 3.5 octave range (same as Tarja) but many feel she could equal Maria Carey (near 5) if pushed. Dunno. Kai delivers, thats what matters most over showmanship.
