Romanticide, Yours is an Empty Hope, Weak Fantasy, and Shudder Before the Beautiful are all significantly heavier than this. More straight-up and less theatric as well.
Well..., depends on what you consider to be heavy. Faster? More distortion? What most people describe as 'heavy music' doesn't feel heavy to me at all. Most 'heavy' music is compressed like hell, so there's not much dynamics. And speed (beats per minute) is another idiotic idea. When music fucks with your heartbeat and the dynamics are all over the place so that your heart literally has to adapt to the music continiously, that's what feels heavy to me. Most genres within the metal box don't do anything for me. You might as well put a mic before a vacuum cleaner and turn the volume up. It's boring as fuck. I do love Nightwish though. And this song is one of my favorites. And it is heavy. Then again, if you ONLY want to hear heavy music, you're really missing out on so much. Who the fuck cares anyway? I've heard music by David Bowie, or Frank Zappa, or King Crimson that are heavier than anything else I ever heard. But these same musicians have made so much music that wasn't heavy at all, but just as beautiful nonetheless.
Personally I have learned, that trying to be diverse is much more rewarding than focusing on one genre (e.g. extreme metal). For me good music is good music, and I can find and enjoy it in all genres. I'm not really a huge fan of symphony metal, but a few bands, like NightWish and Epica, are just so damn good, that I cannot ignore them.
Either Romanticide live at Wacken 2013 or Yours Is An Empty Hope live at Wembley 2015. Whichever of those gets the most comments. Romanticide for the guitar riffs, guitar solo, and break down or Yours Is An Empty Hope for angry Floor vocals which includes her backing the bassist's(Marko) vocals with growls during the chorus. Not as agressively as she did in her old band Revamp but still very aggressive. Nightwish won't have a lot for you but either of those might be more in your lane since they're heavier. Love the honesty though. And ye. That's Kai Hahto from Wintersun. He's good friends with their former drummer Jukka, so when Jukka stepped down for health reasons in 2014, Kai stepped in.
I get the sense that you prefer three shredding guitars, an insane drummer and an incomprehensible singer. If that’s the case then Nightwish is not for you. Nightwish has some heavy songs, but not like that. Why? Because they don’t want to. Their songs are poetic, tell an actual story and sail through many types of musical directions. The next song is not like the last song. Their musicians and lead singer are extremely accomplished. They’re the number one Symphonic Metal band and play large venues around the world. I.E. Wacken - 82,000 fans. They are best served up live. I’ve watched a lot of first reactions to this band and 99% give glowing reactions. There’s still that 1% that are not going to be swayed because they’re locked on to their metal genre. That’s fine. No one can tell you what you should like. And yes, that was Kai on drums. He’s a permanent member of the band since the last drummer got ill and couldn’t play anymore. 🤘 Having said all that, try Romanticide from Wacken 2013. 😂
Yes, i know I'm late, but honestly, if I had to pick *one* Nightwish song to have someone listen to to exemplify who they are as a band, it's Ghost Love Score, 100%. Now, I've scrolled through a few comments recommending some other "heavy" Nightwish songs (heavy can be interpreted a few ways in regards to music), but a bit surprised i didn't see any recommendations for The Kinslayer. Sure, there are *heavier* songs Nightwish has done (musically) but emotionally it's probably one of their heaviest. It was inspired by/written about the Columbine shooting. And then, as others have said, Master Passion Greed (they'll never perform this live, the emotions that led to this song being written are no longer felt by the band), Poet and the Pendulum, Yours Is An Empty Hope, Ghost River, Weak Fantasy, and Tribal are all good choices as well.
Echoing Tim's comment. "Romanticide, Yours is an Empty Hope, Weak Fantasy, and Shudder Before the Beautiful are all significantly heavier than this. More straight-up and less theatric as well." You will love them!
Well, its more what you enjoy. Ghost love score is the obvious choice for most people, but its a bit "tame" if you didn't like Noise and that wasn't heavy enough for you. You most likely will not enjoy Ghost Love Score, even if it is a masterpiece of a song. I say Yours Is An Empty Hope from Wembley or check Master Passion Greed from the Dark Passion Play Album. Tribal from their new album is also pretty heavy. They also have a lot of Folky song, but no "Death Metal" screams like Eluveitie. Nightwish is very diverse as a band, there is a lot here.
Dude is fighting it a little bit. And I totally get that. But holy crap, this is an amazing band and you’ve only just begun. Floor is totally one of the most impressive female voices on the planet right now. And then her stage presence is pretty much unmatched. Live is absolutely where it’s at with this band. I have to throw in Tatiana from Jinjer. That’s another ridiculously good band.
I dont want you to leave Nightwish without doing at least one of their "symphonies": Either "Poet and the Pendulum" from Wembley (moll and dark) or "Greatest Show on Earth" from Tampere (Finland). Even if this is not your taste to listen to in private, you would miss something unique noone else has done !!!!!
Nightwish is a multi-faceted band that go from power metal, to folk to heavy metal to hard rock at times and of course symphonic metal so it's difficult to find one song that would put them in a nutshell. IMO, the most "Nightwish" song from their repertoire would be the Poet And The Pendulum, which is a 14-minutes song about Tuomas (the main songwriter and keyboards player)'s past struggle with depression. It's often the target of copyright strikes, though, so you may have some issues getting it posted. Still, I recommend it (Live at Wembley, preferably) even if it's only for yourself.
Nightwish is definitely a live band! They are amazing! Wacken 13 is outstanding. They do heavy but they r versatile and don’t stick in that box. Try romanticide at Wacken 13. Again, as much as I love this band, I don’t know that they r heavy enough for you.
Hi it steve in uk again im subscribed .yes that kai thedrummer from wintersun . He nightwish permanent drummer . As old drummer quit due to health issues relating to insomnia
Hmmm 1 song? Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013. It’s in the epic category but not heavy all the way through. Maybe for you, Slaying the Dreamer or 7 Days to the Wolves. Buenos Aires & Wembley respectively.
Yours is an empty Hope. Skip Wembley: search for the live Nightwish Cruise version, or live from Tampere; both are much heavier and better live performances- mix wise from a guitar tone standpoint.
Actually, Floor's vocals are down in the mix from the Cruise, plus they pan off of her during the chorus so that people don't realize that it is actually her growling, not Marco. That's why people prefer Wembley over the Nightwish cruise.
Ohhhh a band that might interest you is Epica, especially some of their older songs, you should check out Consign to Oblivion live at the Zenith, they're probably a good bridge between Nightwish and heavier metal that you seem to like
You may also like Gethsemane and Slaying the Dreamer from the same concert, or Tribal from their latest album. Of course they're not an extreme metal band but maybe you can enjoy some or their songs. You could also try Epica (with female operatic voice, try Essence of Silence) or Fleshgod Apocalypse (definetely extreme, try the Violation), still symphonic but on a more heavy side.
The bandwidth of nightwish is huge, but since your tastes lie more on the heavier side you should definetively listen to "Yours is an Empty Hope - live at Wembley"
Since you mentioned you like Eluveitie, you may find Harvest interesting (from Nightwish' latest album: Human nature - there isn't a live version of this song, but they put out a nice official lyrics video for it). It is not at all heavy, but it has a lot of Folk elements (especially in the second half of the track), that reminded me of Eluveitie (instrumentally) the first time I heard it. Cheers:)
One of the heavier songs is Your is an Empty Hope. You should check it out. I believe it may be more up your alley. Heavy guitar rifts and growls to go with it.
If you like melodeath, here's some great bands to check out: BLOODRED HOURGLASS: WAVES OF BLACK, WHERE THE SINNERS CRAWL, SIX FEET SAVIOR, QUIET COMPLAINT, PERDITION. MORS PRINCIPIUM EST: MONSTER IN ME, RECLAIM THE SUN. 🤘🇫🇮
🤘🤘❤️🤘🤘 Man Nightwish is so diverse it's hard to pick a "that one song" really. Some are longer masterpiece songs with both tasty heavy Parts as well as these haunting sweet gut wrench parts! Others are shorter songs and so varied you really have to have a diverse musical palate and real ear for music appreciation because the layers in it all that Tuomas composes are such a treat to the ears. But given your penchant for heavy, Noise was NOT the best recommend off of the new album. I would recommend Tribal from Human :||: Nature!!! It has a nice chunky riff throughout it and Kai even had to expand his kit by like 8 more drums in order to do it!!! Definitely worth a listen!!! 😉🤘🤘
Nightwish is cool, but scrolling through your other vids I suggest the following bands to react to: Jinjer, Slugdge (currently with the drummer from TBDM), The Ocean, Persefone, Spirit Box. All much much heavier and, I feel, more to your liking. I especially recommend Jinjer - On the Top live in Kiev. If you don't already know Jinjer, it would be awesome to see someone react to that song in stead of Pisces for the first acquaintance with this band. Pisces is more for non-metal people.
Cheers up to u bro...beside u'r music preferrence, i just want to say if Nighwish is one of the best metal band, specially in symphonic metal, all band member are talented and they always create a good song. I actually had a same music preferrence with u, but i start dig into Nightwish since Floor become a new vocalist, Floor had give another good touch for Nightwish and make it more heavier then before. Nightwish is heavy in another way. Lets continue to drink that beer and getcha pull!!!!
Nothing wrong with liking heavy music. Their current drummer also drums for Wintersun, and I think your taste would welcome what Jari and company bring to the table. Try Sons of Winter and Stars, from Sonic Pump Studios, and also suggesting Norway's Symphonic Black Metal Masters, Dimmu Borgir. Their old stuff, especially from Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, is more crushing and black, their newer stuff, more 'accessible', but still very creative. Also, Epica, live, tend to be heavier than Nightwish, and certainly Romanticide is one of their heavier songs, but if it just isn't enjoyable for you if it doesn't shred your soul to pieces, maybe this isn't the band for you.
Let's qualify your request. "What is your suggestion for that one song for someone who likes the heavy shit." "Yours is an Empty Hope" Wembley 2015 - Floor growls the chorus like a dude and goes screamo on us as well, plus throwing in a little siren call just to keep us from getting complacent. czcams.com/video/vyLsU7Q333k/video.html
What would be "the one song" would really depend on the person. The usual suspects commenting on these reactions videos will recommends songs from Showtime, Storytime first. So to be in line with them I'll recommend Song of Myself, live at Wacken Open Air 2013 :)
I would say i prefer this one, over Noise to, but this is live, and maybe Noise will be awesome live to, guess we have to wait and see, until the tour is on.. If i should pick one song, it would be Song of myself Wacken 2013.. or Romanticide same one.. thats 2 right..ok i stick to my first pick then...lol
Don't mind bad comments. It's okay if you don't like it, I think the most important thing is sincerity. But keep listening to Nightwish, especially live. There are a lot of songs and some sound quite different from the others, and I'm sure you will like some
It's Wintersun's former drummer yeah, and if i gotten you taste right it should be either Romaticide or Your's and empty hope that would be best choices
The "one" song is probably not up your alley. Usually nearly everyone is completely Floored by Floor's performance in Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013). It's an epic song, but not as heavy as either of the two you listened to, so I wouldn't recommend it for you. Nightwish has such a large range of music and styles in their library that nearly anyone could find some stuff they'd like. For The Heavy, if you want some more play between Floor and Marco in a heavy song we'd probably need to go with Romanticide (Wacken 2013) or Ghost River (Wacken 2013). If just straight heavy, I'd say Yours is an Empty Hope (Wembley 2015) or Tribal (new album lyric video).
Heaviest song they did is Master Passion Greed with the bassist Marco singing. Check this one out, it might make it into your top ten songs by anyone, let alone Nightwish. czcams.com/video/wS7NrPNjACI/video.html
The one song that is always recommended to new listeners is Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013: czcams.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/video.html I see people recommend their heaviest stuff, as expected, but that's not what you asked for. I understand that people are trying to convince you, to get you into the band, but you'd get a skewed picture.
The ONE song with Nightwish? :O IMPOSSIBLE I say. impossible. Half of their stuff may be the ONE song. Depending on preferences of the listener. (The other half is the close second best one btw... :D ) Their "holy trinity" is Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013), The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley 2015), and The Greatest Show on Earth (Tampare 2015). But those are not the heavy ones. So. For you,- either Romanticide from Wacken 2013 OR Weak Fantasy from Wembley or from Tampare 2015 OR Yours is an Empty hope from NW Cruise or from Webley 2015 OR Slaying the Dreamer from Buenos Aires 2018. Or for maybe heavyest stuff with just Marco's vocals that they never did live is Master Passion Greed. But that one is deffinitely not their core right now. Your choice, but there deffinitely isn't THE ONE.
Being brutally honest in my reaction to your beer pouring, you need to pour gently with your glass at an angle so that you don't end up with more foam than beer.
If you have been with the channel you probably already know that I tend to go with more brutal and Tech-Death music overall. I'll try to throw a few in that might surprise you though. ;) Aborted, Abysmal Dawn, Allegaeon, Alterbeast, Amorphis, Alustrium, Anaal Nathrakh, Archspire, Belphegor, Benighted, Behemoth, Beneath The Massacre, BDM, Bleak Flesh, Blood Red Throne, Bloodtruth, Cattle Decapitation, Continuum, Cytotoxin, Demiurgon, Deftones, DevilDriver, Disentomb, Dying Fetus, Dyscarnate, Eluveitie, Entheos, The Faceless, Fallujah, Fear Factory, Fit For An Autopsy, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Goatwhore, Gojira, Gorod, Hate Eternal, Hideous Divinity, Hiss From The Moat, Hour of Penance, In Mourning, In Vain, Inferi, Into Eternity, Job For A Cowboy, Karnivool, Kataklysm, Kennedy Veil, Killitorous, Legion Of The Dead, Mordant Rapture, Muldrotha, Ne Obliviscaris, Nervosa, Obscura, Oceans of Slumber, Opeth, Oracles, Ordinance, Persefone, Puddles Pity Party, Revocation, The Ritual Aura, Rivers Of Nihil, Scar Symmetry, SepticFlesh, Serocs, Serpent Of Gnosis, Sevendust, Shadow Of Intent, Soreption, Spawn Of Possession, Spite, Suffocation, Terrorizer, TesseracT, Through The Eyes Of The Dead, Thy Art Is Murder, Tool, Tom Waits, Ulcerate, Unleash The Archers, Veld, Venom Prison, Wilderun, Wintersun, Wormed, Wounds, The Zenith Passage. THAT'S JUST A FEW. MY WRIST HURTS.
Holy fuck what A list, thank you so very much. I'm sorry haven't visited your channel earlier. But surely in the future. Maybe some interesting adds to your wonderful list from Finland; Amorphis and Wintersun I already picked! Wolfheart, Bloodred Hourglass, Mors Principium Est, Insomnium, Children of Bodom. Deat metal is also my favourite genre, but have to admit that I have followed Nightwish from their first steps from 1997 and become a newborn fan since Floor joined the band. Have a great time with your awesome taste of music😁!
OK, this part of the comment is for those of you outside the US - I just gotta say something here in defense of "typical American metalheads..." This part of the comment also goes out to those who get mad when Floor is compared to Amy Lee... You guys have got to understand something. European metal is NOTHING like what we are accustomed to here in the states. It is completely, for lack of a better term, _foreign_ to our ears. It can take some people a long time to grow an affinity for this type of music. It doesn't make us Neanderthals. I mean, if you had never heard bluegrass, it would not be fair for Americans to jump your shit just because you didn't like it straight away. What's been broadcast here is all we've ever known. Cut us some slack for initial resistance. ----------------- This part of the comment is for the "typical American metalhead...", in other words, Mr. Heavy, et. al. ... We HAVE to learn to embrace and accept things outside our little bubble. Getting to know metal from around the world has opened my eyes to just how closed-off and arrogant the US really is. To be a better citizen of this planet, be prepared to embrace new musical styles, new metal subgenres, new _everything._ You say you love heavy metal? Prove it by experiencing what the rest of the world calls heavy metal. Trust me, you will be surprised by how little definitions matter, and you will be sure how much good music is waiting for you to find it.
Yes that is Kai Hahto formerly of Wintersun. Nightwish does not specialize in brutal. They can do it, but they are more musical. The are not full of anger and aggression. That's boring all the time. It has it's place, just not all that time.
Yes, that is Kai Hahto from Wintersun, he is now the permanent drummer of Nightwish.
Romanticide, Yours is an Empty Hope, Weak Fantasy, and Shudder Before the Beautiful are all significantly heavier than this. More straight-up and less theatric as well.
Not to mention Master Passion Greed.
Also Slaying the Dreamer live in Buenos Aires
@@alanfoster6589 yes, but they will never play that live
Well..., depends on what you consider to be heavy. Faster? More distortion?

If you like folky, check out their song 'I want my tears back' live in Buenos Aires.
Yours an empty hope live wembley 2015.
For heavier Nightwish, do Wacken 2013- Romanticide and Ghost River
You look at Floor the same way I do.
Bad, bad boy.
Great reaction as usual.
🤘😛🤘
Yes, Kai played in Wintersun before before moveing to Nightwish.

If I had to recommend just one song it would be The Greatest Show On Earth because it encompasses every style and facet of Nightwish in one song.
Ghost River live in Wacken, Weak Fantasy live in Tampera, 7 days to the wolves live in Wembley.
Enjoyed. Try "Song of Myself". Epic Breakdown. That probably will tickle your metal bone.
Dude is fighting it a little bit. And I totally get that. But holy crap, this is an amazing band and you’ve only just begun. Yours is an empty hope next please ✌👍😉
This band is best to be experienced live. Or well, a live recording. lol. I love their energy and the dramatic.
Hi it steve in uk again im subscribed .yes that kai thedrummer from wintersun . He nightwish permanent drummer . As old drummer quit due to health issues relating to insomnia
marco plays bass and also sings in the band Tarot
Check out their song i want my tears back live in Buenos Aires
If you like this side of nightwish check out more songs from the Oceanborn album: Stargazers, Sacrament of Wilderness, Pharao Sails to Orion
Hmmm 1 song? Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013. It’s in the epic category but not heavy all the way through. Maybe for you, Slaying the Dreamer or 7 Days to the Wolves. Buenos Aires & Wembley respectively.
Hail Oceanborn! Welcome to the ride, they have more than a 100 songs... All Good... 😉
Master passion greed and romanticide are pretty heavier. Also 'yours is an empty hope' Floor growls on these. ;-)
How about Insomnium - While we sleep official video or Amorphis - The Bee? Please and peace 🙏🏼😎✌🏼

If you don't like something it is fine to say so. Your reaction is honest. That is what counts.
100%
Slaying the dreamer and elan same show nightwish, awesome awesome thanks 😊
I mean TRIBAL. Heavy as hell
You are correct.
One of the heavier songs is Your is an Empty Hope. You should check it out. I believe it may be more up your alley. Heavy guitar rifts and growls to go with it.
This is voice from future 24.10.2020......you will love this band! 😂
you are correct
If you want to see Floor kick all kinds of butt, Ghost Love Score Wacken 2013. That's THE song to know Nightwish and how epic Floor is.
If you like melodeath, here's some great bands to check out: BLOODRED HOURGLASS: WAVES OF BLACK, WHERE THE SINNERS CRAWL, SIX FEET SAVIOR, QUIET COMPLAINT, PERDITION.

They are a live band, loads of heavy stuff to come romanticide @ wacken might do it 2013
Aye! Cheers to the Dogfish!
You need to feed that kid! Poor kid is chewing on his own foot! 😁
Slaying the Dreamer, from this same gig. Bit heavier!
You will probably like Slaying the Dreamer from this show. It is also is quite heavy.

"Yours is an Empty Hope" Wembley 2015 - Floor growls the chorus like a dude and goes screamo on us as well, plus throwing in a little siren call just to keep us from getting complacent. czcams.com/video/vyLsU7Q333k/video.html
What would be "the one song" would really depend on the person. The usual suspects commenting on these reactions videos will recommends songs from Showtime, Storytime first. So to be in line with them I'll recommend Song of Myself, live at Wacken Open Air 2013 :)
Must watch Wacken 2013 "Song of my Self"
I'd love to subscribe but it's readin 777 now so I'll have to wait.
Yours is An empty hope romanticide is more on the heavier side if that's what you like.
Nightwish don't considere themselves heavy metal band, a symphonic metal band, but Tuomas, the song writer, just makes his own music, out of cliche
The one song that is always recommended to new listeners is Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013:

I see people recommend their heaviest stuff, as expected, but that's not what you asked for. I understand that people are trying to convince you, to get you into the band, but you'd get a skewed picture.
I love your honest reactions. Please let us know if you do or don't dig it ;) Nightwish has a lot tougher harder songs ;)
Master passion greed
The ONE song with Nightwish? :O
IMPOSSIBLE I say. impossible.
Half of their stuff may be the ONE song. Depending on preferences of the listener. (The other half is the close second best one btw... :D )
Their "holy trinity" is Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013), The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley 2015), and The Greatest Show on Earth (Tampare 2015).
Wintersun jes jes jes
Hi! Think just for a minute if you stopped listening Nightwish after NOISE???
Go for pan heavy or greatest show on earth for overall skill
Don’t do Ghost Love Score. Although it’s amazing and really showcases what Floor can so, it probably won’t be your thing.
Being brutally honest in my reaction to your beer pouring, you need to pour gently with your glass at an angle so that you don't end up with more foam than beer.
your empty hope for sure!
Can you name some bands that you like to listen?
If you have been with the channel you probably already know that I tend to go with more brutal and Tech-Death music overall. I'll try to throw a few in that might surprise you though. ;)

OK, this part of the comment is for those of you outside the US - I just gotta say something here in defense of "typical American metalheads..."
This part of the comment also goes out to those who get mad when Floor is compared to Amy Lee...
-----------------
This part of the comment is for the "typical American metalhead...", in other words, Mr. Heavy, et. al.
Way to go. I never knew how to present it. Kudos to you!
Yes that is Kai Hahto formerly of Wintersun. Nightwish does not specialize in brutal. They can do it, but they are more musical. The are not full of anger and aggression. That's boring all the time. It has it's place, just not all that time.
Just go to their lives.. not the studio versions.
In fact the only song really heavy that you can listen from album is - Master Passion Greed - when they were really.. angry.
Your is an empty hope live at wembley, should be more your thing
