We can debate whether this is the best song ever written. But there is no debate regarding Floor's outfit!
@Louis Minten No argument from me! That outfit is a design by Royal Black Couture. It is called "Glorious Empire". She couldn't get an outfit especially designed for the tour (as she did for Human :||: Nature) so she got the designer to let her use one of her designs. She doesn't really sell her clothes, instead merely renting them out for things like modeling shoots. I don't know if Floor actually got to keep her outfit or not.

Nah..., I bought the same outfit, but it didn't suit me at all. Maybe this is just not the right corset for a 53 year old fat man with a beard and a prostethic leg.

Kai is an absolute beast. And Tuomas' name is like it's spelled. BTW - this was originally a Tarja song from "Oceanborn" and was played by Jukka so yes he can indeed do it.
Floor: "Hey Marco, i found this unique armor set. Can you identify it for me, so I can wear it on stage? What does it do?"
Marco: "Doesn't matter, you maxed out all your stats at the Wacken 2013 show....."
Insane musicianship, insane vocals and an enchanting and compelling story... I absolutely love this song. And a bonus matchup... The Devil plotting his corruption of ocean to steal her power and wreak destruction... The ocean basically faking panic and finally acceptance... The devil and his plans disappearing beneath the waves... Just classic and Marco and Floor make a wonderful villain and heroine pair! Probably this old guy's favorite Nightwish song at this point in time... I've learned over and over that favorite song is a floating concept when Tuomas and Nightwish are involved. I got to see Deep Purple in 2004 and Ian Paice did an epic drum solo with Roger Glover battling back and forth with their solos.
Nightwish started out as a group of friends, and evolved into the Preeminent Supergroup. Every cog in the NW machine is extremely talented. From the musicians to the crew. They're really just a large extended family.
Buenos Aires, Argentina. Most southern actual city in the world is here in Argentina. And Finland is one of the most northern countries in the world. Nightwish is pretty big here in Argentina since 2000's. And they made a live recording here, such a gift. From North to South, From Tampere to Buenos Aires. That's how big Nightwish is. Floor has no ceiling, as far as her singing goes. And it's remarkable that when this was filmed she wasn't at 100% fitness, having been ill. But her 80% is still better than most singers at 100%.
I don't like the original from the Oceanborn album, but this *is* majestic. No other word suffices.

Yep brings back memories, I bought the CD back then or maybe in 1999 ;-) I remember being shocked by the drums track in this song. Crazy.
They were super fortunate to be blessed with both Jukka and Kai…two phenomenal drummers who melded so perfectly with this phenomenal band and Kai is in Beast Mode in this song🤘

I fully agree with you. They are the very very best. The world has never seen such a fenominal group of musicians together. They are lonely at the top. And no one makes the tiniest mistake. Any time you here a song from them you might react with "This must be their finest song" . Anytime because they don't do bad songs, only highlights. The audience is pumped up to " unimaginable heights" by them. They are amazing. All of them separately, but not from this world together. They deserve a huge statue to honour them in the centuries to come. Amen.
Great reaction to an awesome song! This is the song from Jukka's era, so he is killing it too, but Kai changed those fill's a bit, they are crazy! I think you are ready for the Greatest Show On Earth from Tampere and Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley, that is whole another level up from what you saw from Nightwish by now! :)

I've only been listening to Nightwish for 2 years and as I hear a new song it just owns me for at least a week. Every other song they pull off some superhero/Avengers thing. Kai's drumming, Floor's sustain and high pitch (and outfit), Marco's menace. They never disappoint. Thanks for the great reaction!
Your reaction is entertaining as always. Check out the studio version of this song to hear Jukka's take on the drumwork and the certain difference in the male vocal. This is a very theatrical song and the band pulls it off very well here. I will not get into the banana eating or speedo wearing discussion/debate - I trust you all to do as you want (and certainly think you will grow your subscriber base.)

I dont want a debate of who is the best drummer, Kai and Jukka have both a different type of drumming, Jukka is more aggressive and theatrical i still miss jukka a lot, and i also have great respect for the drumming of Kai.

You may find it interesting to know, that this song is from their 1998 album "Oceanborn", which is their 2nd album ever released. And according to Tuomas it's their first PROPER album. A quote from Tuomas: (Angels Fall First) "was never meant to be released as a proper record. It happened almost by accident, so we decided to put everything into making 'Oceanborn' great."
They were so ambitious and excited, that they "overstuffed" the album and the tracks with whatever they could think of. A big thing for Tuomas (at least for a while, maybe it is still) was chasing that innocence they all had back then. As they got more professional and more successful, he always felt like they were missing something from back then. They discussed this in the "End of Innocence" documentary from 2003.
This song also had Tarja on vocals with her purely operatic style. And Marko wasn't even in the band. Those vocals were sung by Tapio Wilska. Well, he didn't "sing", he growled them.
So, this performance is their modern interpretation. :)
You know I'm so glad that I came across Nightwish a few months back they are so freaking tight live and Floor OMG I fell in love with her when I heard her sing "Ghost Love Score" that was the first time I seen them on CZcams....but I like the outfit she wore at Wacken 2013....I wish I could get a pic. of her waring that outfit and holding a sword and a shield with the Nightwish crest on it....yeah I know I'm weird....lol...."Nunca pare la Musica"
The Devil and The Deep Dark Ocean, The pharoah Sails To Orizon are my favourite songs on the album. I'm sad that I heard recently that The Pharoah will never be played again.

I've heard "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea." And "Dancing with the Devil in the Pale Moon Light"
Both of them are ways of calling "Keel Hauling" being drug through the water along the keel of a ship. There is also "Paying the Devil" Which includes also Chalking the Keel.
Floor is seriously channeling Lucy Lawless as XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS in that outfit. Not bad for a song that was written on their second album OCEANBORN, making it well over 20 years old. Originally sung by Tarja exclusively, but Floor and Marco just add such an awesome new twist and aspect to the song.
Jukka recorded these drums when the song came out in 1998 and he taught Kai how to do it so, HE WOULD HAVE DEFINETELY BEEN ABLE TO PULL IT OFF LIVE!

At first, this was one of my lesser-liked Nightwish songs, but that was because I didn't listen to it properly. Now, it is one of my favourites. As with all Nightwish songs, the more I listen to them, the more Iike them.

By the way, this song was released in 1998 in Oceanborn's track #3. So, Jukka was in drums, Sami (Vänskä) was in bass and Tarja was singing at the time. Tapio Wilska sang in this song parts that Marko sang in the concert. I'm listening the original recording in the background while writing this and to my flawed ears sounds like Jukka keeps up with drumming just fine.
This Buenos Aires concert was a part of Nightwish's Decades tour that included lots of older songs rearranged to include Troy or even sing lead.

The melody from 7:57 to 8:40 (in your video, no idea what the time code is on the original one) is so wonderfull. This track is like a hidden gem to me, didn't care much for it for a long time, then one time i really listened to it, and fell in love with that melody line. Hardly any other Nightwish song is so reminiscent of a musical. At least that's how it is structured. There is almost a conversation going on.
At some point there should also be a Nightwish musical alongside the Falco and Queen musicals. Their lyrics in all songs would at least have what it takes.

One of Floor's online students has a awesome prog rock band called Scardust. She has some great range, vocal transitions, and even a few growls and the bass player/guitarist really lay down some metal jazz. After listening to Nightwish and Unleash the Archers I love switching to this band. Check out their song "Gone" good stuff.

Jukka is a world class drummer so I don't know why you would make such an assumption. Jukka did pull the drumming off, when he recorded it on Nightwish's second album in 1998. Other than that your reactions are cool. Keep it up guys.
Nightwish is only a tip off iceberg. There is a lot off excellent Finnish music out there. Battle beast, beast in Black, HIM, bloodred hourglass, Ensiferum etc

Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean was written and released in 1998 on the Oceanborn album. Jukka was the drummer. Take a listen to it and tell me if Kai is a lot different than Jukka. And remember, Kai's performance is 20 years LATER. I think Kai is great...but better?

You loved Kai, Floor and Marko in this one, funny thing neither of those were in the original recording of this song, back in 1998 in the 2nd album of the band. I love this version, but you should check out the original since it's has a different vibe with Tarja voice along with a guest vocalist called Tapio Vilska.
