- So, IS bigger better. Maybe, Maybe not!
Check out these smaller enclosures and find out why we went SMALL.
So many have asked "What size enclosure should I use for my isopods". Well, sometime larger enclosures work, but sometimes they do not.
Find out why we use smaller enclosures at times.

First ones are HUGE!
Thanks. YOU need to do isopods.
@@SupremeGecko I see that haha!
Hello great video information Wally and Nanette
Thanks Moon
I have two colonies that started as one. They live and thrive in my Pacman tanks.
Very nice John. Thanks.
I love the spikey isopods!!!
Me too
Wally is one of the most dedicated people I watch it’s always a pleasure to see a new video!
Ohhhh! Thank you so much.
Agreed
I would love to see a full tour of this entire room with all these bins of isopods!!
It might happen soon.
Your video person did a good job!
Maybe I should actually pay them!
This makes sense.
Thanks
Excellent Video Once Again Wally a lot of Bin types you have very nice setups as always
Thank you FDT.

Great video guys
Thanks Chantal
Great video, for science!
:) Thank you
Great video with great information!
Thanks Emily
@@SupremeGecko thank you Wally
Nice video! To the point and we got to see some cool pods! I have 6 qt for most of mine and a couple various smaller ones for smaller pods or smaller populations hoping to increase them (like duckies), the only thing I don’t like about the smaller containers is it can be hard to get a moisture gradient, but if you use ones that mainly like it moist and humid you’re good!
Excellent point about the gradient.
awesome
Thanks!
Wow those Athens are soooo tiny!
I find it easier to manage the tinies in these small containers.
@@SupremeGecko I have my white sharks in one of these small containers because they are TINY!!
I have the same kind of containers as you!
Ahhh! Great minds :)
@@SupremeGecko yes indeed!
Only you would show Parvus in a video! So brave. Love my parge bins! Mine are cows, scaber orange koi, and Titans/ Hoffs.
"Ignore the man behind the curtain" "The tiny dirt clump in the middle of my hand is the Great and Powerful Parvus."
@@SupremeGecko hahahaha fair. Parvus are SO tiny and burrow SO MUCH!
@@isobuddies absolutely. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I personally keep all of my Isopod colonies in half gallon (2 qt) tanks and I love them! I wouldn’t keep any large porcellio in there but I have several armadillidium and Cubaris that are thriving in the small enclosures as well as my pruinosus
If you’re ever in the market for a small display tank I highly recommend BettaView tanks from Walmart they are great and even have built-in ventilation although if you’re keeping a tropical species in them you want to cover one of the vents or if you have pests where you live you will want to cover the vents also with some gauze
Great idea! Thanks
@@SupremeGecko of course! They are super cheap and make wonderful little display tanks
I have somewhat of a convolute question, so I hope I can put my thoughts to form well.
My basic question: is there a difference in the way you set up bins if they are for a display species, and if the bin is for a more basic breeding and propagating purpose? If so, what differences? Let me explain a bit.
You have a lot of bins that, in my mind, I’d say are for breeding and selling.
But, if you have a new species come in, and let’s say you get a large number, like 60.
So if you were to split that 60 between 2 bins: an enclosure built more for breeding, and an enclosure that was put together more for display, would you do the bin set up differently?
I mean NO offense here. But most people seem to do a very basic bin set up, and there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s everything the isopods need there.
But those bins are kind of meant to house them, and then cycle them out either to sell, move to bioactives, or split the colony to propagate.
I tend to build my enclosures more in a manner of a “display” enclosure, and find myself doing different things when I’m doing a more traditional bin, if I say, tomorrow get a shipment of 10 new isopods.
In THAT case, I’d set up a bin LESS like a display one, and more of a basic one to promote propagating and breeding as a priority.
What are your thoughts on this, and if it’s not clear, I’m sorry.
Thank you!
Go easy,
Me
No offense taken. People have different purposes for their husbandry needs. I set up my enclosure for one purpose- to breed.
@@SupremeGecko Correct in regards to differing husbandry needs, along with expectations.
I have a rule of thumb "my way may not be your way, and my choice may not be yours."
I hope the weather is treating you and your family well!
Go easy.

Where can I get some springtails
From our Supreme Gecko store. See link in the description
I’d love the snails if you’d send them to me!!!
I HATE snails. Do you feed off to other animals?
@@SupremeGecko I love snails, I breed them in the separate bin! I’d love to get any and all snails you have!!!
I need help I have an isopod terrarium, and last night I observed a pill bug run on to the back of another and tried to chew its head off! I'm thinking they need protein , what kind would u suggest?
They need more protein..... or more mood lighting and romantic music :)
You need to start calling them Dave it’s a Good name for all the isopods lol.
DAVE!!!!! Dave's not here man.
The video time was 4:44, do u know what all those little white things are under the log?
Those are springtails. They help clean too.
What are Al those little white things moving ?
Those are springtails. They do a great job cleaning up (even some mold)
They’re Springtails They Help With reducing Mold

Well done
Of course you are! Your awesome like that!
