It’s SO surprising to me just how few people check the ingredients list on most foods.
Even more surprising to me is how few people actually look up side effects of prescriptions before taking them….
A doctor gave me a prescription for my knee that said in the side effects section that it could cause sudden death. Needless to say I didn’t take it.
Sodium ferrocyanide decahydrate
Prussiate of soda is another name for sodium ferrocyanide decahydrate, which is a yellow crystalline solid that is soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol1. It is a cyanide salt used as an anticaking agent in table salts to keep them free flowing2. It is also known as yellow prussiate of soda and has the European food additive number E5352.
People need to become aware and act with their hard earned money, we're being fed poison in almost everything. Something needs to change.
People blame the salt for high blood pressure yet ignore the other unnecessary ingredients in table salt
3:03 The book called "Salt, Sugar, Fat" talks about why they put sugar into everything is to reach the "bliss point."
Sugar makes everything taste better, even food you would not think. I do carb up days here and there and my most recent was pasta galore and it just was not enjoyable and was starting to judge my previous love of food. Then for my last meal of the day I added in allulose and good amount of butter and OMG the difference. It was suddenly just like I remembered where pasta with meat sauce was pure heaven. NGL here I made a second batch and gobbled it up to point of feeling like exploding aka just how I use to remember it. That book does not lie! I love Prego sauce and stopped buying it when I went low carb. It won best pasta sauce on a pretty famous youtube channel recently and the two guys were saying stuff like "you can taste the Italian high quality ingredients!" LOL then they read the labels and Prego has tons of sugar added. So agreed, sugar and fat makes food hyper palatable and you just consume and consume even past the point of your stomach being filled the esophagus cant contain....and just one more bite. Steak on the other hand.....delicious OMG but then suddenly not and you stop as you start getting meat aversion aka natures way to tell you to stop eating.
I’ll check out this book, thank you!
I've used Redmond Real Salt in the past, but I prefer Maldon Sea Salt Flakes.
Yeah Redmond comes off to me as a force sponsor brand it's it's coming off as cult like. Personally I love pink salt. I tried Redmond and ya know it's salt. Pink salt is also just salt. I just prefer the pink salt
Wow! When I got this notification and saved to my watch later list, I was in the kitchen, and looked at the box of salt! I have used Redmond's Real Salt for about a year, but live with my sister who still uses regular salt!! The box is Morton's Salt and it contains dextrose! Also calcium silicate (anti-caking) and potassium iodide!! Even more thankful now that I use Redmond's!! And I love their Smoked Salts!! Thanks for this info! Never noticed that salt contains sugar!! You are right!! Feed that addiction!! God bless you! ❤️🤗🙏🙏

Thank you so much! I was a T2 diabetic but with a seriously controlled diet, I'm no longer diabetic . I never imagined my salt having sugar in it. I read labels on a lot of stuff but admittedly not salt.😮
Don't worry, the amount of sugar he's trying to scare you about is trace amounts. Also, if you fixed your diabetes from stopping the consumption of all carbs and sugar, then I'm sorry to say you did not fix it, because I garentee you if you have big dose of carbs right now your blood sugar will go through the roof...possibly even worse than before the diet. That's not a cure, it's just masking it. A real fix is being able to eat carbs and have a normal spike and fall in a healthy range.
@@DKing-js1of This reasoning seems flawed. For many people, carnivore isn't a 'diet' they plan to only do temporarily until they reach some goal (like a weight loss goal) then revert to a previous way of eating. For many, carnivore is intended to be an ongoing lifestyle... in which case your hypothetical about what WOULD happen if they reintroduced "a big dose of carbs," seems irrelevant. From the carnivore perspective, there's no good reason to EVER reintroduce "a big dose of carbs." And for someone who never reintroduces carbs, their recovery from diabetes (etc) does seem to remain permanent; they're off the medication and don't have to continue paying for and injecting it, etc. And all the while they eat flavourful foods to fullness, feel energized and enjoy multiple health benefits in different domains, etc.
It'd be one thing with some fad diet that's only intended to be temporary; one might call THAT just "masking" a problem. But something intended to be lifelong? That's not "masking" a problem any more than the sheer act of eating *anything* can be described as "masking" the problem of cell death from starvation. It's preventing a problem, and people are happy while doing it. So the problem really is solved, insofar as it's possible to solve the problem. Your presupposition that people have an end goal of eventually returning to high-carb lifestyles seems to be the faulty premise here; you are overlaying your private definition of a "fix" but that's not the definition others care about.
I carry a little bit of redmond's in my purse, in my car, and in my work bag so I'll never be without!
That doesn't strike you as abnormal, and cause you to question this type of diet?
@DKing-js1of no ot makes me question every food label so we stop getting fed chemicals by Big food and corrupted government agencies the govern our food.
Awesome!
@@DKing-js1ofDid you listen to this video? Cause if you did you need to start questioning your judgement.
Sorry, there's no way you're going to convince me that carrying around salt with you everywhere is normal or healthy. Come back down to earth. This diet has got people obsessing and doing bizarre things.
Well said Dante thankyou for bringing this up, you are one of my Hero's 👏💖 listening from NZ
My fine and coarse sea salt both have an "anti caking agent" , I switched to himalayan pink salt from the same brand (Morton) and the only ingredient is salt.
Another way is to put it in a shaker with rice. Or store in a dry place, like a box that isn’t wet.
YES, Redmond salt and Redmond Re-lyte electrolytes ❤
Thank you for making us aware of this. Interesting information!
Love the David Gilmour shirt! Love your videos. Really appreciate all you do!
This is good information. Thanks for taking time to share these insights.
Thank you! And love the Gilmour shirt
Dante! I’ve been doing other things for many months and am just seeing this today. You are looking very good and healthy! I’m so happy for you!!
I definitely agree that the quality of salt matters and i love Redmonds. But I do think the amount of dextrose in a serving of McDonald's salt is going to be minuscule. It isn't ideal. Avoid it when possible. but I don't believe having it in a pinch is going to hurt anything.
Wow. Thanks for this. Been on Carnivore for a month, doing well, but never thought to look at the ingredients on my salt!
1:38 Anyone else notice that little salt packet is produced by "Sugar foods corporation"?
Im going to buy some Redmonds today. Thank you for that tip.
Even bacon has often added sugar. I swear if the industry knew how to do it, they would also put sugar in eggs.
Why is it that Redmond’s and pink Himalayan salts don’t cake?
I use both but I keep pink salt on me and it does cake being it's exposed to hot temps and humidity. Maybe I should take what's left of my Redmond bag and keep it with me at all times and note if it also cakes up
Thanks Dante! Have you ever looked at medications? Same thing dextrose and glucose are many. Why?
i used sodium thiosulfate before in lab settings to remove chlorine from testing solutions, its also what we use to remove chlorine in tap water before putting the water in our aquariums so not to hurt/kill the fish. i suspect this chemical is probably the least problematic of the bunch in such low concentrations.
That's reassuring to hear, especially with the example that it's used to dose the environment fish live in to PREVENT them from dying.... I just bought iodized salt the other day but was baffled by the inclusion of sodium thiosulfate as the third ingredient, and while I was looking to learn more I hadn't opened it yet.
If this ingredient is fine then overall this may be a good salt choice I think: Just sea salt, potassium iodide: 0.01%, and sodium thiosulphate. Nutrition Facts say a quarter teaspoon gives 59% daily value of iodide (which I take to be equivalent to iodine?) so I'm hopeful this could help me not have to worry about my iodine intake much.
Definitely interested in yours or anyone else's thoughts though if anything I said above calls for it!
@@caterinadc5567 i do not think we need to worry about table salt , its the least of our worries, its kinda like worrying about rain tomorrow when nukes are gonna fall tonight. the only advantages of better salts like Real salt and the likes is they might include other kinds of minerals but you shouldn't need extra with a good diet. not sure why you should worry about iodine deficiency though if you eat enough food unless you have a specific health condition but i am not a doctor so i have no clue if those even exists.
I only use Himalayan Red salt and sea salt from the Camargue region in France.
I carry my own salt with me. I keep it in the car with my flossers, haha.
Good idea!
Homestead How sells keyring salt shakers.
Thanks Dante... I got 35 pounds of Redman's Real Salt a couple of years ago... I am still working on it so I think I am okay. I did get all the Redman's smoked salts but I got turned off them from the first time and never tried them again. Too bad I bought the big bags of each of those.
What’s wrong with redmonds smoked salts?
Im perfectly fine with pink salt and spending a bit more for what i assume is high quality. I tried redmond and ya know i just perfer pink salt. At some point im going to try celtic salt. Always check the ingredients.
I want to know about heavy metals in the full mineral salts. I've heard Himalayan salt contains a good amount of them because of where it's found but i haven't seen any studies.
Anti caking agent? Why I haven’t used Iodised table salt for 40 yrs! Aluminium byproduct? 😬😬❤️🇦🇺🥩
Exactly.... aluminum
Dante, your videos, for a while, have not been hitting my feed and I have notifications turned on for you. I thought of you, yesterday, and worried that you quit or were kicked off CZcams. So I went looking for you. Glad you are still here, but there’s something fishy happening.
I just use pink salt
many of the grocery stores I live near have their own specific grocer name branded salt and every one of the store brands have dextrose added. some also have flowing agents and anti sticking agents added. I usually see silicon dioxide more often than aluminate or thiosulfate. many store brands get a product to sell from the same supplier or manufacture but with a different label. I'm at the point where I trust nothing that comes from today's modern food system and food production. Ive become too health conscious during the last 3 years trying to chase perfection it will likely be my downfall. I don't even trust my ro water filtration system I use for drinking and showering to be adequate or the air I'm breathing doesn't have brake dust particulates because I live on a busy street. a 100% meat salt water way of eating has made me realize whatever my food has eaten before I ate it is completely out of my control. same with many other things in life that have all been lies.
Thank you for sharing, quick question, do you drink a lot of water? I’m concerned im not getting enough water on this carnivore way of eating, thanks
Golden rule if you need water the body will tell you.... It's called thirst. As the weather gets warmer I consume more water but 2 months ago some days I didn't consume a lot because I wasn't losing it and I simply wasn't thirsty
@@chlamygamine2190 thanks for the advice, it’s so confusing I’ve heard some carnivore say that it’s not necessary to drink a lot of water and then I’ve heard the other side. Say that it’s good to drink lots of water.
@@blasttorres we human beings have a tendency to over complicate things.
If you get thirsty...drink water if your not thirsty...don't drink water. Don't overthink it.

My Redmond's sticks together. I just whop it on the counter and I'm good to go
I seal my salt in moisture proof containers - end of problem with no additives.
Its interesting redmond tastes slightly sweet its different im guessing its the minerals maybe potassium
Dextrose which comes from corn i e a grain is in my thyroid medication and I'm not supposed to eat grains when you have thyroid issues
Can you switch to desicated real thyroid?
What about pink Himalayan salt? I checked my containers, and all it said was pink salt. Nothing else.
When it comes to pink salt, I understand there are some fakes out there, but I don’t know how to tell them apart myself. The ingredients should be a way to tell, but this stuff isn’t as well as people might think.
Redmond ok ??? They said that there lead in it now
Should I be taking an iodine supplement on carnivore? I’ve been carnivore now 30 days
Most people are iodine deficient. Check out Dr Brownstein’s work on iodine. I have watched several of his interviews and have his book. My doctor prescribed Dr Brownstein’s iodine protocol to help my thyroid issues. Most people get Lugol’s iodine because it has both iodine and iodide. Just a drop or two per day is probably enough - unless you have a thyroid disorder. You might also want to take extra iodine if you swim in chlorine - the bromide blocks iodine absorption.
5 minute body has a new video out today about iodine
If you are not using iodized salt the definitely yes
Table salt is basically 1/3 glass...
1:37 Sugar Foods Corporation? No suprise that they put Dextrose in it lol!
Any relation to big Louie?
It’s debatable.
@@FerrignoFreedom 😀
I’ve been wondering about salt lately. They are not going to let anything that is 100% healthy be sold easily, so why is molton salt so wide spread? And how did cavemen get enough salt? Is salt truly that important?
Mainly from eating fresh meat.
What is molton salt ?
@@wendycarter5718 MALDON…darn spell check. Hahahahaha
You guys need a break from this diet. It's making you obsessive and crazy. Come back down to earth!
@@DKing-js1of no thank…..to much ignorance there! I love me and will do ANYTHING for me!
Buy a cheap beef roast, grind it and make your own hamburger. No pink slime.
Get a 5 dollar small salt shaker, fill 1/4 of it with rice, and then rest with redmond salt. Leave in your car. Problem solved
Dextrose is used as an anti-caking agent. Also, it prevents the oxidation of the iodine. The quantity is hundredths of a percent - not enough to have a metabolic effect. Do your homework.
What did your glucose meter read?
You state in the video that the point of eating low carb is to stay in a state of ketosis where you're burning your own fat. You're only half correct. Ketosis burns fat, but people in ketosis also eat a lot of fat, so most of the time you're just burning off the dietary fat you're eating, not your actual body fat. Again, this diet is not special. You'll burn actual body fat at about the same rate eating carbohydrates if you're In a.....wait for it....CALORIE DEFICIT.
Really that's funny I have lost 95 pounds and I eat a lot my calories are 3x what I ate on carbs. So what you said makes no sense. I eat a lot of fat also. I'm now the same size I was at 17 actually I can fit into my clothes from back then. I kept my hippy clothes 😂😅.
Don't you think you're at the point now where you can start to add in some other whole foods? You're thin now, you don't need to live in ketosis 24/7 and be terrified of every gram of carbohydrate that passes your lips. I notice you're beginning to look a little skinny fat, which is not uncommon after a few years on super low carb, high fat, when a person reaches their optimal weight, but doesn't quit the diet. You're in the phase now where you'll lose muscle on this diet. It's not designed to be a permanent lifestyle, despite what you've been led to believe. You'll become more insulin resistant than you ever were before.
Nonsense
Yes, pretend that billions of people outside of America who thrive on beans, corn, rice and potatoes don't exist. You're closed minded.
Crazy how the Carnivores are blaming everything more and more but you guys don’t question if eating meat was the problem.
Well I mean, I think it is more reasonable to question all of these new man made ingredients and added chemicals, preservatives, etc. than to question the thing we have been eating for thousands of years. That’s just how I see it though.
Because when you go Carnivore you can see these things ...
it takes the fog from your brain and you can see the deception...
@@tylermac1001 Pretty dumb people i suppose
Humans didn't have access to pounds of meat every single day of the year. They also ate fruits in season, and tubers and even grains. Very few lived in ketosis 365 days a year. This is not normal, and we are not lions.
@@tylermac1001 Ketosis is not a natural human state.
