  • Got around to replacing the blown out fork seal on the Intruder. Turned out to be far easier than the VTX forks as I could put them back on the bike without a helper.

exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate that you took the time to put this on CZcams for novices like me.

Good deal! Watching youtube vids is how I've learned most of what I know about working on bikes/cars/the house. I figure why not help someone else along the way when I can?

Just did this today on my 200 vs800 time consuming but easy. All you need is a few foot piece of 1 1/2" schedule 40 pvc for assembly. The pipe alone to drive the bushing in and to drive the new seal in but the old seal on top to keep from damaging the new seal. The bottom bolt cracked loose with just the long end of a regular allen wrench with a crescent wrench handle on it for leverage. Had to give it a quick snap.and it came loose, remember loosen the top cap and bottom bolt first as to make it easier while it's still on the bike.

i jus ttook my vs750 forks apart and i'm missing the bushing tubes and one of the oil locks amazing they still worked fin the only reason i dissasembled them was to change seals since of them was leaking slightly, just hope it goes backl together again and still works... missing parts an all XD

I used to enjoy this type of thing, but as I get older....I dread it. I've got rotors and brakes in the back of my Jeep right now...

I HATE, loathe, cannot stand brakes or exhaust on cars. Especially on things that have come out of the rust belt. Unless you have a lift or most tools a normal mechanic has, jobs that involve those things almost always end up with me going "that's it... let's tow it somewhere".

Good to know. I've yet to do forks, let alone on any of my intruders... despite them probably needing them done pretty bad lol.

It turned out to be far easier than I thought it would be. I've had a chance to do it on the VTX previous to these. It's not exactly fun, but it's better than paying an obnoxious for a dealer to do the same work.

Hi, I have a Intruder VS800 from 1995, and I'm having some issues to remove the the chrome cover from the fork dust seal, you have any tip how remove them?
    Tanks.

Sadly, I do not. There's a thread on the Intruders-Alert.com site that I had started and another user also had those chrome covers. I think in the past I've seen you can use a small flat head screw driver to pry them off. The trick being to move around the cover a little at a time being careful not to scratch the fork leg.

Even i am facing the same issue with CHROMED METAL dust covers that are positioned OVER the regular rubber covers on the top of the fork seals. Did you manage to find the solution ?

I got the numbers for the parts from partzilla and then plugged that into ebay or amazon. Sadly eBay no longer goes back that far for purchase history. And failing that you can get them from partzilla but at an inflated price. All Balls Racing seems to be the best for aftermarket in this case. You'll need the seals and copper bushings/washers as well. And if you get very unlucky the spring clips. Partzilla will have a nice break out list of the parts next to a picture display.
