Bryson City Yay! I love it! Y'all should take the Nantahala train ride in the Fall and the Polar Express train ride at Christmas😊 I went on the Nantahala train ride with friends from church and we loved it. Some of my friends went on the Polar Express train ride at Christmas and had a blast😊
I love driving through the gorge, it's soooo pretty! 🥰 I thought there was a sign that says No honking in the tunnel, but I could be mistaken. 😁Your spot looks great! It will be so nice for you and sister to live next door. I've heard of Bryson City, but have never been there. Was it a couple of hours drive like you thought? It did indeed look like a small town. Remember NC has a state income tax unlike TN that doesn't, so you will be paying more in taxes and you also have to pay a personal property tax on your car every year. So keep those extra expenses in mind when budgeting and looking for a job. NC does have some great scenery, I hope it all works out. 🤞
It's funny you mentioned increase in taxes, since I looked at today's Bryson City newspaper online (Smokey Mtn Times) and on the front page it says "Town adopts budget with tax increase" 🙂
@@gregoryhodge9452 Actually that is good to verify the vehicles on the road are "roadworthy" and not going to cause an accident for safety violations. (as long as the fee isn't too outrageous....here in Massachusetts it is only $35. a year.)

I loved north Carolina. I went down there with my son for 3 months. We rented a hotel room for 240 a week, and 10 mins from the large beaches , and 15 from south Carolina. I always said if I had the chance to move there permanently I would have. Unfortunately pay wise was worse than where I lived and it was too expensive. So we just went and did alot of trips to different spots and enjoyed ourselves!
Yay Bryson city is near my mom and where I maybe moving soon. My mom is near Nantahala Gorge Topton NC😊 oh you will see Smokey Mountain railroad too and you can raft and tube at Nantahala. Excited for you. My grandfather is from Topton. Topton a few miles from Nantahala. Hot chocolate so good at the Smokey Mountain railroad in the winter. I'm looking at tiny homes in Franklin to move near my elderly mother.

I spent many many summers in Bryson City. Love that town. Must be closer to Silva if Walmart is close by. Tubed deep creek many times. Had a family reunion a couple times at deep,creek campgrounds. Water is chilly

Well, it's around the corner for my sister and her work... me, i have to find a job there. Walmart in Sylva is about the same distance i drive now so that's what I'll do until i find a job there.... I'll have 2 jobs. I delivery job cause u get paid right then! But yeah, it looks like it might be happening.

What a beautiful area! If there is work around there for you and your sister, that big lot looks like the perfect spot for both houses. You could create a little homestead with raised garden beds and a gazebo for outdoor living. I love it for you and hope it works out ❤️
My sister already has her job. She's more established down there, I'm the one thats coming to a new place and has to find a job. It is a pretty area though, and i like being close to town!

Love Bryson City - good luck. Deep Creek Falls is probably where Cody will want to go and get in the water. The trails and waterfalls are very pretty. My parents had cabin rentals in Sylva for many years. We often went to Bryson City and visited Fryemont Inn to walk around around or to eat.
I've been following ITH for about a year. Initially thought things were on the up n up. Mostly liked the tours of the tiny homes & learning about the owners & how they chose tiny. After a while things started to change. As I heard about the key money going from 6k to 10k to 30k, I was blown away & kept charging this over & over with each new buyer. Then, the crazy offer to buy into the company with worthless shares that were essentially donations to IHT, I saw this was a scam to raise money for ITH that was supposedly worth 3 million or more. Then, shortly after, they fired 50 employees, retaining only 18-20 for assembly line due to poor sales. Yes, I read the Newport news article about what the fired employees said.So yes, I want to hear all you have to share to prove my instinct about them.... 9:19
I use to live in a bryson City. I walked at Deep Creek daily. I ended up over Franklin way because I couldn’t afford to buy there. You will love it there. If I can help, let me know. It’s a great place!

I bought a ITH....still waiting for Buffalo Creek to be finished! I sold my house and have been paying rent to stay with a friend, also paying for storage! It is getting very costly! One of the latest ITH videos, Randy said it might be another 8 to 10 months before Buffalo Creek is ready!
I love the Bryson City area! I grew up white water rafting on the Nantahala River. It’s an easy family friendly river. You three ladies would be fine white water rafting there. You will have the best chili hotdog ever at the restaurant across the bridge at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. I think you all will be so happy in that great spot! You could put Adirondack chairs on that slim shady spot under the trees. Would be a great place for you & your sister to relax in the late afternoon with your dogs.
Yes, it's a pretty area, and i love that it's like 5 mins from town!!! The smoky mountain railroad is there too, I'd love to take a trip to see fall colors on the train!!
@@italian_grl we rode the Smoky Mt Railroad. It goes along side the Nantahala River and over a lake. It’s a great ride! Fall would be a beautiful time to take it!
Pretty area. I like Deep Creek park area. You might be cautious going out there alone. I think several of those missing in the Smokys videos name it as the location.

Or another option is for your sister to take your moms house and for you to put your house at Lola's since you said the new place is more money.. Plus then your mom' won't be alone there in Tennessee, but it is so pretty there at the river and the stores are so cute. The views are also very beautiful. It is hard to pick which one would be the best and you have made friends at Lola's. Good luck with your choice and do what is best for you.
My mom was the one actually pushing me to take this lot with my sister, so i don't think she's too upset about me moving haha.... she knows it's a good area. She'll probably move down around there to an apt someday.

Pretty spot for your homes. I don't see electric and water hookups? Nice area. Great area for Kody. Tubing is fun. It's been a long time since I've gone. Also I wear clothes more than once before laundry day.
If you and your sister DO move there, your mom could maybe put her name on a senior housing list over there now, and be closer up on the list quicker by the time you girls are all located and settled. It's a beautiful spot! Good Luck!

Crazy they are now trying to be builders of more traditional homes, right after layoffs snd financial troubles. You mentioned RJ perhaps have a reputation as a womanizer. My friends, who went on the Polar Express train ride, wore reindeer headbands. The performer asked them if they would prance down the aisle while he sang. Those 3 senior ladies did it and had a fun time. From what I understand, riders can wear their pajamas on that train ride😊
Looks beautiful. Just consider what it will be like in the winter if there is snow, those hills could be dangerous if not maintained. With it being in a recreation area, are there all the services and stores around that you would need? I like Lola's but this one looks much nicer, as long as the surrounding area meets your needs.
@@italian_grl Sounds good. At the very least your sister has her truck there if things get too bad with the snow. (Being from New England, when I think of mtns I think of snow, perhaps that is not the case in NC during the winter.)
@@melonmonte6385 Ice is a real problem everywhere if not treated. It doesn't matter if you have a 4x4 truck or whatever, you are helpless once you are sliding on the ice. (My truck and the guard rail I hit had the dents to verify that.)
@@pcthayer I haven't lived in TN or NC for a long time but do remember that ice is impossible. I was on a bridge in Nashville (I-40 or 65, can't remember)a few years ago when an 18-wheeler on my right started sliding to his right. We were at a dead stop and the weight of his truck just worked with gravity to slide him off the road. There was nothing he could do to stop it. I think they are better about treating the roads now.

I love the Bryson City area! I grew up white water rafting on the Nantahala River. It’s an easy family friendly river. You three ladies would be fine white water rafting there. You will have the best chili hotdog ever at the restaurant across the bridge at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. I think you all will be so happy in that great spot! You could put Adirondack chairs on that slim shady spot under the trees. Would be a great place for you & your sister to relax in the late afternoon with your dogs.
Yes, it's a pretty area, and i love that it's like 5 mins from town!!! The smoky mountain railroad is there too, I'd love to take a trip to see fall colors on the train!!

Or another option is for your sister to take your moms house and for you to put your house at Lola's since you said the new place is more money.. Plus then your mom' won't be alone there in Tennessee, but it is so pretty there at the river and the stores are so cute. The views are also very beautiful. It is hard to pick which one would be the best and you have made friends at Lola's. Good luck with your choice and do what is best for you.
My mom was the one actually pushing me to take this lot with my sister, so i don't think she's too upset about me moving haha.... she knows it's a good area. She'll probably move down around there to an apt someday.

Pretty spot for your homes. I don't see electric and water hookups? Nice area. Great area for Kody. Tubing is fun. It's been a long time since I've gone. Also I wear clothes more than once before laundry day.
If you and your sister DO move there, your mom could maybe put her name on a senior housing list over there now, and be closer up on the list quicker by the time you girls are all located and settled. It's a beautiful spot! Good Luck!

My friends, who went on the Polar Express train ride, wore reindeer headbands. The performer asked them if they would prance down the aisle while he sang. Those 3 senior ladies did it and had a fun time. From what I understand, riders can wear their pajamas on that train ride😊

Looks beautiful. Just consider what it will be like in the winter if there is snow, those hills could be dangerous if not maintained. With it being in a recreation area, are there all the services and stores around that you would need? I like Lola's but this one looks much nicer, as long as the surrounding area meets your needs.
It would be no worst than winter here at Lola's and being 30 mins from anything at all lol
@@italian_grl Sounds good. At the very least your sister has her truck there if things get too bad with the snow. (Being from New England, when I think of mtns I think of snow, perhaps that is not the case in NC during the winter.)
@@pcthayer Ice is the biggest problem but it's probably no worse in western NC than it is in eastern TN.
@@melonmonte6385 Ice is a real problem everywhere if not treated. It doesn't matter if you have a 4x4 truck or whatever, you are helpless once you are sliding on the ice. (My truck and the guard rail I hit had the dents to verify that.)
@@pcthayer I haven't lived in TN or NC for a long time but do remember that ice is impossible. I was on a bridge in Nashville (I-40 or 65, can't remember)a few years ago when an 18-wheeler on my right started sliding to his right. We were at a dead stop and the weight of his truck just worked with gravity to slide him off the road. There was nothing he could do to stop it. I think they are better about treating the roads now.
