We want to uplift each other together, but ego gratification relies on individual pursuits. Especially in basketball and the commercial world of basketball, money = awards and recognition from fans. However, if you want to win, those things come second. The swing pass is itself a metaphor for a larger dilemma in the sport of basketball, especially in an generation that has social media pressure on their appearance and way they play in no way that any star has before.

    Please show this to people who think Steve just came in a took over an already made team. I'm a soccer fan, who follows Barcelona, wich is a possession based team who move the ball around. So its crazy to me that a professional doesnt understand the power of ball movement. A saying in soccer is, the ball will always move faster then the person holding it. The ball is like a magnet, so u move it around to create the space from the magnets that follow and stare at the ball.

    Very interesting to hear what Steven Kerr brought compared to Mark Jackson…. Not that Jackson was bad…. But Steve Kerr did bring a revolutionary new style of basketball.
    A few days ago I was watching some games between the 90’s Celtics and Bulls. Watching these classic old games, you really notice significantly less ball movement. It was about creating a mismatch and then attacking that mismatch one on one.
    Also, it was interesting to see defenses setting up about 5ft in from where current defenses set up. That created a lot of congestion in the paint…. Which in turn made it much more difficult to attack the rim with back cuts, etc

    • @MrArdytube
      @MrArdytube Před 2 lety +1

      @callmecatalyst
      Well said
      My posting was prompted by frequent posts that dismiss the Kerr contribution as simply proceeding with what mark Jackson built
      That said, Draymond clearly elaborated on how Kerr insisted on playing in a way that felt unnatural (different). And, yes, Steve Kerr freely acknowledges his debt to other great basketball minds. But, if you go back and look at games from those previous teams…. There is a clear difference in style reflecting the further refinements Steve Kerr brought to the game. And, of course, one has to further acknowledge that those changes were enabled by Kerr’s good fortune of having Steph, Klay, and Draymond
