Love mine . Just bought mine used and they blow away anything I've ever had . Everything about it is really good .
Mine will be here this Saturday
Thank you very much for this video. Do not hesitate between the Maxwell and the DT 900 pro X. The council the council you? I mainly play Warzone
I find any Beyerdynamic headphone too bright to hear gunshots for a few hours without getting fatigue and wanting to lower the volume.
I do not have a USB C port in may mobo, using USB C to USB A adapter, will it affect the performance?
hi ... i have a problem with my maxwell...when i play games like call of duty ....i put high level volume and the explosion i hear a croack in the headset....or with bass.....just it happens only when i play...with music no
Out of all the reviews I've seen about this headphone/headset, you have been the only one to mention (even though it was only in passing) the elephant in the room - what (if any) is the difference in sonic quality (both from the mic and drivers) in bluetooth mode, Audeze's own wireless dongle mode, USB wired, and 3.5mm wired. Does the physical layer effect how they sound (mic quality too)?
How would you say these compare to the Hifiman Ananda BT? I use my HD800s for gaming on the PC and I have a feeling I'm going to be underwhelmed on the console side. Logic would dictate that I use my HD800s with the Hel Schitt 2 on the PS5 and Xbox, but having it wireless is the key, especially when using VR to reduce the clutter and wires around me. Awesome video by the way!
I don't personally have the Ananda BT, so I can't comment too much about that. I know people love the HD800S for its sound staging when it comes to gaming. I don't think the Maxwell is going to win in terms of sound stage, but we're also talking about a pretty substantial price difference lol. The importance of the Maxwell is that its delivers a devastating blow to the "high-end" offerings from gaming brands like Turtle Beach, Razer, Logitech, Corsair, etc. It delivers fidelity that no other gaming brand has come close to, with way more battery life and awesome range. It's easily become my #1 most used headphone at home for all things.
Hey have you had and issues with your mic? Others players say I sound muffled
how would you compare this to other planar magnetic drivers like the audeze mobius and the dan clark/drop Aeon closed X? I loved my mobius but it broke and idk if i should get another mobius, the aeon, or the maxwell
So the Penrose that I showed in the video is the same chassis design as the Mobius. That chassis just wasn’t good for larger heads; the headband would crack. It never cracked on me in the 2 or so years I had them, but I gave it to a relative, and it cracked on them. Maxwell is a pretty big upgrade in its build materials and overall durability, but that yields a heavier build overall. Personally, I don’t care that much about the head tracking in the Mobius, so I wouldn’t buy it again over the Maxwell.
Dan Clark’s headphones are quite light-I love my Expanse and can wear it for hours on end. I can’t speak to the Aeon Closed X since I don’t own a pair, but I’ve seen them go as low as $379 new on Drop. Lots of happy owners of DCA headphones. I have numerous headphones, but I think Maxwell is fitting a large number of use-cases for me. And it’s quite a bit cheaper than any Aeon.
@@koreanfriedchickenguy Wow thanks for such a detailed response! What I loved about the Mobius is that the audio quality was the best ive heard in a headset. If you use it wired with the 2 channel Hi-Res mode the bass and overall audio quality was so clear and punchy. Would you say the audio quality of the Maxwell holds up to the Mobius?
Yes, the Maxwell definitely lives up to the sound of the Mobius and improves upon it. Audeze is also implementing a custom EQ option in case your sound preferences deviate from their stock presets. Overall, it’s a very comprehensive package for me.
Love the info, just a heads up though, you are coming off a bit loud/harsh sounding through your mic.
Do you own a hd 600,how does it compare?
Hello! Can somebody tell me please how these headsets are oerforming with Dolby Atmos on 4K blu-ray movies?
I have a Zidoo multimedia player and an LG OLED tv that supports Dolby Atmos, but I want to know how these will work with my setup. You can hear the sound as you would have a surround sound system?
Your output device would have to take that Dolby Atmos encoded audio and downmix it to stereo in order to achieve the result you're looking for. The Audeze Maxwell itself does not decode Dolby Atmos audio.
You mentioned the possibility to connect it with usbc or 3.5.
If I did this, would it mean no latency since t'd be wired. Would the Bluetooth, etc... be totally off?
There is always a bit of latency because there is digital processing from the onboard chipset, but there should be less compared to wireless usage.
That being said, the latency is already really really low and it’s not a concern to me. Rtings variable results led an average of 34ms latency when over the wireless dongle and 18ms over wired.
@@koreanfriedchickenguy thank you very much for answering me with details
@@docpic18 regarding latency, Audeze corrected Rting's measurement and stated it's 18-24ms so it's lower :) as long as you use the dongle you'll be fine.
Does this have dual channel?
What would you say is better the maxwell or steel series nova pro (WIRED).
I would love an answer to this question
Audio company > gaming brand (usually a 3rd party supplies the gaming brand).
Coming from the penrose the maxwell sound is not a huge upgrade, i fact they sound a bit different and I sometimes go back to the penrose. Comfort goes to the maxwell.
Overall which is the best?
@@faizxs1the Penrose has 5milimeter bigger drivers that’s why but the wireless 5% smaller speaker and other features the Maxwell kind of comes in as a counterintuitive choice but Penrose does have a little bigger driver I belive it’s 95 and maxwells 90 😊

Please someone; an acceptable headphone that is open-back for the xbox. I'm currently struggling to get my HD650 to work, but it just isn't meant to connect to a console
I’ve used the HD 560S on Xbox. It’s a sensitive headphone, so it works fine directly into the controller. Obviously no mic, but there are some boom microphone cables you can buy for it should you need a mic on Xbox.
@@koreanfriedchickenguy I now have the Sennheiser PC360 plugged into the controller, but it's far from using it with a decent dac/amp
You want something reasonable in price Sennheiser h6 pro open back
Only way to use the hd650s with the Xbox series x and not have it sound like garbage is to use the Astro MixAmp Pro Tr, it’s a wired solution but the hd650s work fine using this method. The Astro branded headphones are kinda trash though, I would only buy the MixAmp which lets you use any headphones you want with the Xbox series x.
Cheapest best wireless headset is the Xbox branded wireless headset. price and performance increases from there until you top out at the Maxwells.
Also, like you I love the HD650s and use them for PC gaming with a dac/amp combo. I would love it if someone put out a decent wireless open back headphone for the Xbox.
What about the gaming sound compared to other top 5 headphones in your book ? Also do u think is there any other headphones better thn the Maxwell?
There are many headphones that perform better in certain categories, but Maxwell is still to me the best sounding WIRELESS headset for many things. But it may not meet everyone’s very specific needs.
If you’re really into competitive FPS games, I don’t think imaging on Maxwell is going to be as incisive as an HD560S or PC38X or Hifiman Arya for footsteps. I’m not a competitive FPS player, but I felt Maxwell was decent for positioning cues in games, but not effortless like others.
Some headphones have a “walls of sound” presentation (HD 660) while others have more of a “field of sound” (HD 560S) presentation. For me, Maxwell is somewhere in between, but leans towards field of sound.
Where are people getting wicked cushions for the Maxwell? I can't find them anywhere
It looks like they’re in development, I think I saw some postings on Reddit about them coming in June, so it seems like they’ll be a while. That being said, I’ve not personally had comfort issues. Big improvement over the Penrose.
Audeze.... yESSSSSS
which is better between maxwell and turtle beach stealth pro? i play adventures games and watching movies
I’m debating between the two also 😭
If you really care about sound quality, then Audeze is really pushing the bar here.
The main features the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro has that the Maxwell does not have is Active Noise Cancellation and the ability to listen to two devices simultaneously. Even so, the Maxwell has superb noise isolation, so in my experience, it's already really really good without that ANC. And with consoles supporting Discord and music streaming platforms, I feel less of a need to have the ability to simultaneous stream from two sources.
And in basically every other metric, the Maxwell smokes the Stealth Pro. 80+ hours of battery is going to smoke the 12+ hours on the hot-swappable Stealth Pro.
To me, the Maxwell is in another class of its own. And that's coming from someone who owns two other Audeze wired audiophile headphones-the LCD2 Classic ($799) and the LCD-X ($1199). I find myself using the Maxwell way more often.
@@koreanfriedchickenguy I have the Penrose X and sound fantastic. Thinking about upgrading to the Maxwell but Audeze won’t be shipping new Xbox version orders until June
@@christiangarcia9102 yeah, it is a bit tough if you didn’t get in early. I mean, I waited 4 months when the original promise was shipping in January! I still think it was worth it over the competitors.
@@koreanfriedchickenguy do you know if the Maxwell Xbox version is compatible with the PS5 like the Penrose X?
Audeze is always a win
I got my Audeze Maxwell yesterday and I‘m amazed how good these headphones are! The sound quality is incredible I love them!!!!! I had astros, steelseries, razer but audeze is on another level!! The best headphones in the market ✨
Are they better than the novas pro or turtle beach need a new headset badly?
@@jasminahmetovic140 Yes, by a stretch. Can't really compare brands that focus purely on audio to brands that do a bit of everything. A Logitech keyboard will never be as good as a DAS Keyboard, but that of course doesn't mean you might not prefer the Logitech or Steelseries product. Test both if you can :)
@@jasminahmetovic140I have all 3 and maxwells take the W.
I love this headset, I like defean cushions better then WC
How long did it take to ship yours
Ordered my pair from headphones.com mid December and just got my pair April 20th. Worth the wait because I got my Xbox pair for $281 by purchasing headphones.com gift cards at 15% off back in December.
Ordered mine the 9 of January, had to cancel the order last week because my dealer will not have any... Found a way to order directly from the french distributor I had received them today ! Testing them tonight I'm hyped lol
@@AbstiiaN I ordered mine straight from Audeze and I keep getting delayed shipping emails. But let me know how you like them so I know to keep the order or cancel for the tb stealth pro
I know that with the XBox version the dongle works if connected to the Ps5 setting the dongle in pc mode.
I would like to understand if the PlayStation version does the same! I cannot find anybody testing this.
nope, you can use the xbox version on everything, but the playstation version is only for playstation so... I would go for the xbox version even if it is 30$ more but you got the dolby atmos for every devices
@@superpouvoir912 thank buddy
The Xbox version has the Xbox security key on the dongle that’s why the ps version doesn’t work
