From what DMS was saying, it sounded like you were slowly turning until you heard the enemy in the center of your screen. I wonder if it would be more effective, with regards to getting a better sense of the soundstage, to have the aimer try to flick towards the origin of the noise. Then, the aimer could also adjust from the faster motion after judging the initial movement.

Hey Badseed Tech, happy to see Maxwell's pop up few times, I also exchanged quite a few ones and the level of audio you get in Maxwell is unmatched from what you get from competitors. Is indeed a little heavy, but you get used to it after few days, really. Not that big of an issue. The software is working well, absolutely no issues with them whatsoever! I do recommend them as well. They work very well for music, movies and gaming! I was hoping to see some good feedback from Crin but that left me without a comment :)), I wouldn't follow his friend's advice at all. If you care about audio, study a little bit more the market and get something better than just "whatever you like" :)

thanks @BADSEEDTECH, cause of your recommendations, I sprung for the Audeze Maxwells about 5-6 months ago.... even if your not an audiophile you can definitely hear the sound difference. I love my punchy metal music (devil-driver, tool, and lamb of god) and I play COD and HellDivers 2... this headset is by far the best sound quality I've found. HOWEVER! **** the clamp on the left cheek is brutal to the point i had to get on reddit and look up possible solutions for what to do. i found that if your pull GENTLY the headset apart to straighten them GENTLY you can alleviate a lot of that south paw you get after long sessions. if you wanna know what im talking about press your thumb between your cheek bone and your ear idk what they need to do to fix this but it's like the headset's pads are too bulky, i even got the wicked ear pads for it with the cooling. they help a lot. I just don't believe the ear pads need to be as thick, could be a design flaw but the drivers are hands down, amazing.

The most immersive headset I ever used was the Audeze Mobius. The 3D Head Tracking was amazingly accurate. It took the game audio out of your forehead and onto the screen. Sounds in the distance were really realistic. Birds flying over your head make you duck out of the way. It was as close to speaker surround sound as I have ever heard. It wish it was a little more comfortable and less buggy. Someday I hope someone does that 3D Head tracking just as well!

I'm realizing now that the previous video is what set me on my path as a budding audiophile. I didn't know who anyone in the video was and I was looking to upgrade from a Logitech headset.
Ended up getting a PC37x for me and a PC38x for my wife. And then an H6 pro to have a closed-back option.
Since then I've upgraded my tv from a soundbar to a decent 2.1 setup, and just got the Truthear Zero IEMs.
All of these sound so much better than what I was used to - without costing more!

I am not an audiophile, but a gamer. My previous headphones which is more affordable was the DT880 250 Ohm. Now I use the DT1990Pro, which is a straight upgrade from the DT880.
For a mic I use the Modmic5 for a long time now.
There is also a reason I don't use any headphones/mics with any kind on knob or dial or button, they tend to fail very early on.
I had ALL! mics and headphones/headsets fail on the volume dial/mute switch (including the Modmic5, but that switch was optional), making them near unuseable after just 1-2 years. (especially Sennheiser, used many of their gaming headsets back in the day). And the funny thing is, I barely even used these dials/switches. I use the windows volume/mutes.
And I do care for my headphones. I place them either on my head or on the stand and thats it. No throwing or placing them down hard.
Bluetooth headphones also have some lag in them, but some people just can't notice it.

I have some fancy headphones and iems in my collection, and I think my favorite casual headphones are the Meze Classics for most everything. They're just so light and comfortable. If I actually need a mic, my H6pros are still going strong after 2.5 years with my ARC MK2. I have the same issues with IEMs about them not being comfortable after like an hour.

Personally prefer IEM:s for gaming, not as hot on my head during the summer months and as I am getting older, I get more details I otherwise tend to miss in games where foot steps etc. comes from.
Rocking Moondrop Aria 2 for IEMS with Moondrop Chu 2 as backups. Highly recommend switching the ear tips to Spinfits to not get itching in the ear canals and to be able to spend 8+ hrs on your R6 or Minecraft sesh!

Sorry for my english, I speak french. Thanks for the good content! But again it’s practically all about multiplayer. Nothing about solo gaming except “more bass for cinematic immersion”. What about an analysis of timbral accuracy of wind, water, voices and all the amazing sounds of solo games and movies. And no explanation of what type of binaural process is used, I guess it’s the binaural audio built in the FPS games and the output is 2 channel PCM ? This information is in clear correlation of soundstage rendition in games.
So here is my take on Solo gaming/movies :
Best binaural process : SoundblasterX G6 which takes the dolby digital content and converts it to binaural. I didn’t try the Smyth realiser (for obvious reason $) but I am practically sure it will create the same illusion of speakers as the new G7. I tried the G7 new mode but even if it was a perfect simulation of speakers (which it is not), it’s not as good for immersion as the old mode of the G6 because every scene will sound like speakers in a room even if you are outdoors in the game. The G6 binaural virtualisation is more immersive because it just puts the dolby digital spots all around you at about 1m with no big reverberation, so outside sounds like outside and inside like inside. And after testing the same mode available in the G7 I didn’t get the same rear cue accuracy as in the G6, placebo or some changes in the process ?
Best headphone/iem (with EQ and calm environment) : HD600 with added bass (30hz 4db 0.5Q, and small tweaks in the treble based on sound sweeps). I have the 800s, Hifiman sundara, akg k702, k371, SRH440, sundara closed, moondrop variations, blessing 2, Truthear hexa, red, ie200, U12t, and around 10 other headphones/iems, and of course all the things I tried in stores. I tried and tried and tried to get the same timbral accuracy in the 800s as in the HD600 with EQ but I still don’t manage to do it. I don’t use the dspears anymore because I found way better inter-headphones accuracy using the in ear mic of Sound Professionals. I cut the hook to put the mic even closer to blocking ear entrance. Best treble peaks accuracy I ever had that correlates with sound sweeps. HD800s has better soundstage and imaging than the HD600 but it’s not a huge difference, most of the spatialisation work is done by the G6. And as I value timbre over anything (I tend to walk a lot in games just to immerse myself in the environment/story), HD600 (and probably its brother 6XX/650) is always a reminder of natural/accurate sound.
Best headphone/iem (no EQ, noisy environment) : Truthear Hexa (for timbral accuracy) or Moondrop Variations (more unrealistic subbass on this one but more soundstage due to the harman dip in the midbass/low mids. And for really noisy environment (air conditioner, family), put the XM4 noise canceling headphone around it. I didn’t find any closed back able to rival the clean frequency response of in-ears. It looks like the new Focal Azurys is the real new closed HD600. I am egger to try both HD620s and Azurys !
And there is the whole chain :
    - PS5 in 5.1 or 7.1 dolby digital mode to
    - HDMI Extracteur (for no latency in audio) to
    - G6 (to get excellent binaural audio in any dolby digital game at least for my HRTF) to
    - Minidsp Flex (to get a precise 20 band equalizer) to
    - Mojo 2 (to get good DAC and enough power) to
    - HD600
    Have a nice day !

I have had really good luck with 660S which is close-sounding but excellent sound separation and accuracy, and the Hifiman Ananda Nanos, which offer more bass/subbass and a bigger soundstage while still having excellent accuracy.
I noticed a lot of options with bigger soundstage will not have the pinpoint accuracy and so in some games like Valorant it will become a bit vague exactly where someone is, even if you have a general idea of the direction.

I don’t know if I got a dud, but going from a PC38x to a Maxwell because I missed having wireless from my old Arctic pro wireless, I had heard such positive reviews of the maxwells but I had to return them, the sound was harsh to me and sounded awful compared to the pc38x, there is no beating the open back sound in my opinion
I had a hard time locating sounds in CS2 with the maxwells, where it feels like I can see through walls with the pc38x, also a side note is that my friends hated the microphone on the maxwells?

My only complaint is the elastic headband cords wore out, but my head is so large that this is irrelevant. Even the ear pads are still in like-new condition, in spite of my heavy 5-o'clock shadow rubbing against them all the time.

However what got me in the world of headphones was the Sennheiser HD 700 which also has an amazing sound stage, and if you run an EQ (like APO) you can fix the infamous tuning, these can be bought used for around $300 to $500 US on the second hand market. They are also a really good headphone for hip hop/trap/etc

What you use...well, that depends on what I'm about. I no longer use headphones all that much. I don't need the coms anymore, so I don't typically bother. When I do need them, my old Audiotechnica ADG700s get the nod. Back up for them, or when I just want open cans are the Philips X2HR. The new Senn 490PRO tempts me mightily, but not much use for it at present. Closed cans are the Beyerdynamic DT177X for isolation or fiddling with bluetooth via the Quedelix5K and a balanced cable. Everything with detachable cables gets Hart modular cables.
