    Couple things I forgot. It helps to remove the belt shield when doing this job. Also it's a good time to inspect and clean your belts and thoroughly grease the bearings.
    Email me if you want pages from the Woodchuck manual sent to you.

    Or go to my website and email me from there www.bauertree.com

    You are doing The Lord's work posting videos like these. Thank you very much! I'll keep an eye out for other videos regarding the maintenance of these machines. I bought a used 2015 Midsouth WC-D12 but I have no manual and nothing to go off of. Its crazy to me how many years machines like this have been used, but when you look online there isn't anything to read or watch for maintaining them.

    Handy hint is masking tape knife edge incase of a slip. Pull tape off when finished. Saves bleeding everywhere.

    thank you for posting this!! This is an awesome video! I've got a really old drum chipper that I picked up and it doesn't feed like at all. I've seen those diagrams but dumb me was not setting it correctly until I watched this video and the way you explained it made sense! Thank you!

    Super good info bought a used WC126 and wondering about changing that blades. Do you have the blades professionally sharpened or just use a grinder in maybe a jig?

    • @CalTreeEquip
      @CalTreeEquip  Před 4 měsíci

      Have them pro sharpened. They use a cool grinding lathe. If you do it at home you'll take the temper out of the edge.

    Hello, and thank you for these videos!
    Do you have any idea where I might find information for an old (1958?) Fitchburg chipper please?
    It doesn't expell anything out the chute.
    Thanks!

      That's a tough one. I have only ever come across one Fitchburg and never worked on it, though I did chip with it a few times. Seems to me it had a spring loaded anvil plate. Email me some pics and a more detailed explanation of what it's doing and what you've try to fix it. matt@bauertree.com

    I have had an Altec WC 126 chipper for a few months, I bought it used, and it needs new blades. Your video explains the blade replacement quite well but I am planning to replace not only the blades but the bed knife (anvil). Do you have any information on this blade, size and wear limit?

    Is it normal to have one of knives a little higher

    • @CalTreeEquip
      @CalTreeEquip  Před rokem

      Yes. This is not a precise thing. If you look closely at the blades you will see that there is a bit of inconsistency in regards to how the edge lines up with the striations. Sometimes the line isn't even strait. Try to get them as even as you can but don't sweat it if they are off by a few 1000's.

    Had a WC12 question, my clutch seems to be disengaging when using the chipper, is that normal?
    my engage handle is been broke off and rewelded so something could be bent.

    • @CalTreeEquip
      @CalTreeEquip  Před rokem

      No, it should not disengage when in use. What kind of clutch is it?

    • @sc5102day
      @sc5102day Před rokem +1

      @@CalTreeEquip i think i found the issue it was the safey was not engaged which doesn't let the clutch fully lock in and engage. The break band is wore out so the safey doesn't work correctly.
      Not sure on the clutch it has a ford 300

    • @CalTreeEquip
      @CalTreeEquip  Před rokem

      Altec will have them. But first make sure you are wrenching the correct direction and them try heat. In all the years I have been doing this I've only ever had to cut out a few and then never more than 2 on any one chipper. Altec Environmental Parts 877-462-5832.
