How can you not like Tony Gwynn
I know
Ikr
So humble. The 12 people who didn't vote for him. Are either contrary or just dumb sorry.
If you’re an asshole like Jack Clark
Imagine the 2% of sportswriters who didn’t vote for him!
Tony would be fired up to see where the pads are now. He'd be proud.
Especially with his son announcing the games :)
Should have been a unanimous vote.
No kidding. Apparently the 13 writers who didn't vote for him explained that they wouldn't vote for anyone who played during the steroid era, no matter who they were. Ridiculous explanation.
@@jtstevenson81 that’s ridiculous. Tony was as clean as you can get
@@shanestevens5352 Agreed. Anyone who didn't vote for him should be fired from the committee.
You’re not crying I’m crying. RIP to a man that will never be surpassed in San Diego lore.
I`m a red sox fan! and yesq i`m craing!
One of the greatest of the greats! On and off the field. We miss you Tony!
#19 Tony Gwynn, will always be my favorite Padres player. A 15 time ALL STAR, with 5 GOLD GLOVES, not to mention 8 National League Batting Titles! A true Padre and hero to the city of San Diego.
Tony is the 🐐! Was there even a question that he’d get that phone call! Should’ve been unanimous tho
tony gwynn is the best
2:30 Loved Tony’s laugh. So glad to hear Jr. on Padres broadcasts. Sounds just like his pops.
We miss you Tony! A true legend in San Diego!
This video never gets old. He was such a humble man. He was a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame, yet he still considered it such an honor to get the call.
A great baseball player and an even greater human being. A true class act. RIP Mr. Gwynn, you are definitely missed.
I’m a Dodger fan but Tony Gwynn was my absolute favorite player. I even emulated his stance and swing (with much, much weaker results), and it’s no accident that my son’s name is Anthony. When he cried after he got the call, so did I. Such a humble and funny guy, and that laugh is classic Tony. RIP Mr. Padre.
He will always be the greatest to San Diego and it means a lot coming from another fan base, especially a Dodger fan. That’s what makes this game great is the comradery at the end of the day we all get to join in on. He especially meant a lot to me personally as I’m sure many people got the privilege to witness. His humbleness is a pillar for this team that might never be accomplished again but will always be our cornerstone. That’s why he’s Mr. Padre.
My hero
Mr padre
Such a deserving reward for such a gentlemanly player. As someone who grew up a Dodgers fan, it was such a pleasure and honor to watch someone with Mr. Gwynn's dedication to his profession ply his craft on and off the field. It's such a shame that he's no longer w/ us, but I hope that his family takes some solace in the fact that he meant so much to so many.
MR. PADRES!!!
RIP to my hero. Mr. Padre. I watched his whole career and he will always be the greatest to me.
He’s crying. He’s humble. He was a gift from God. Luv you Tony.
Such a great man and Padre !!!
Let go get this championship, For Tony.! Well deserved. !
This man was the epitome of class … all the way. I am bit teary eyed watching this.
Im a Braves fan until I die but Tony is one of the most deserving players ever of the HOF. Great guy on and off the field. One of the best hitters to ever grace the diamond
A great player and a great man. Enjoyed hearing him cover games also. He is missed.
I had the pleasure of being a San Diego Padre fan Tony’s entire career. What a player, athlete, ambassador, and so many other SD community endeavors. God Bless Tony Gwynn and his family.
congrats
"Can I get any details on the rest of the voting?"
Meaning..... did anymore of my pals make it in with me? Such a selfless and charismatic guy. There will only ever be one Mr. Padre
Man gave me chills. One of many great players I grew up watching across the MLBs.
What a legend, we will always miss you Mr. Padre❤️🥺
Thank you Padres for sharing this!
Love and miss you, Tony
Voting needs to be in the hands of anyone but the writers. I'd like to see the living members of the HOF vote but it could literally be all of our mothers voting and we would get more objective results.
The greatest baseball player of all time. No doubt.
i was born in san diego and i grew watching tony play he was a great person and player
The smoothest, would be President today, thats why he passed so young.Just like Arthur Ashe
make me cry

Tony would have a problem with today’s baseball he would preach against the slugging today and tell hitters to concentrate on just putting hard contact on the ball there well never be another Tony Gwynn again R.I.P LEGEND
I was born the year tony Gwynn died
The only people that call me, are debt collectors.
how can you not be romantic about baseball
God bless Jesus loves and has a plan for all

These old white baseball writers need to go. There is no way he shouldn't have been a unanimous selection
First or at least first comment let’s go
