The level of detail that you and your crew spend into lining and leveling the pavers is amazing. Work ethic like this is very hard to find these days, respect.
Ty yes we try to do our best for levels very important!
@@OdellCompleteConcrete agreed. Obviously Dave's attention to detail and dedication to quality has rubbed off nicely on his sons and staff.
This is the standard way we do it in Europe and let me tell you it's better. It looks more appealing and it lasts forever. Water can drain better and usually it doesn't collect as much heat as concrete would. It also seems more durable. No cracks no nothing. And if you want to change something you can just lift them up! Great work!
I don't know , which part of Europe you mentioned, but in my old country instead sand we do the concrete slab on which we setting pavers . It is forever and for example, on driveway we never get wheel tracks or get the pavers uneven after a few heavy rains
I'm from Europe and these small pavers have some huge downsides.
1 any water flow or heavy vehicle will make individual pavers sink and it's never level after a few decades of abuse.
2 needs a lot of maintaining to keep the weeds and algea off. These guys did great but it's not extremely tight so grasses will sprout in northern Europe. Even when done perfectly you get moss growing.
When kept up well and not overloaded they do last, make sure you leep some extra for when some break. You will not find the same ones 30 years later
Unbelievable! I can’t believe how much you transformed this whole yard. Beautiful!… It would be cool if you could give a ballpark price on these jobs….thanks….
Great idea!
I'd say $15k
Great looking job. I've been laying pavers for nearly 40yrs now. I have always place the sand over the pavers before compacting. Rake over the sand leaving a 2mm film over the pavers. Then run the plate compactor over it. Preferably use a urethane mat or carpet bolted the the plate compactor. Wacker actually sells them.
By doing this the sand is vibrated into the joints creating paver interlock.
Yes I like that idea.
This craftsmanship is amazing and underappreciated! Great job!

Nice Paver Job. Really Professional! The space that was transformed is so clean and ready for the owners personality. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for uploading another extremely informative helpful video, many people and DIY prefer pavers because of different unique designs/colors or poor access for concrete truck to pour.
Only maybe a handful of concrete tradesmen that know how to explain advice carefully with just right crucial details on video, great job Mr.Odell
Yes I concur

You guys never surprise me with the quality of your work. Ed

Excellent video sir. Best detailed video on pavers I seen thus far. Great job to the whole team!
Some people watch asmr videos, some people watch people eating a giant meal. I like watching Odells company place concrete and pavers.
Me too
TY
Yep. You can't make paver bridges but like you said, one could do a project like this by themself.
Good stuff. Thanks for all your videos. Really great
For sure

This!!! My house is in the final stages of being built, it’s right next to my old house and our landscaping people did recommend us these for our patio and our driveway because and it turned out amazing compared to the driveway in my old house also the repairs are way cheaper and you can DIY
This is absolutely an exceptional job. Well done, guys!

I've got a question, Sir. You know when you lay the sharp sand flat, just before you put the slabs on the top, I've seen a builder adding a thin layer of mixed dry cement and sand and then when they put the slabs down, they'll start watering it in order to go hard underneath. Please, advise me because I'm about to do some work in my back garden, in East London. Thanks for finding the time to answer me.
Very nice! Methodical and precise, now you're talking my language.
TY
wow! looks very professional and clean.

Pavers are definitely tricky! Great job guys!

God bless your beautiful family for sharing such a beautiful work.

It really is!

The apple fell right under the tree! Great work, just really great. 👍👍

I've been watching y'all for a while now and I haven't seen a bad job yet. Y'all rock the pavers and concrete.

We did our entire house front yard backyard walkways with Italian marble 1" thick , cement base underneath. It’s been 35 years now looks like it was installed yesterday. You get what you pay for
No house is perfectly square, but in one of the videos I saw you found that out and found a better way to do it so it would be square. I love it when you leave in the mistakes to show that even experts can make a mistake. Kudos!
Live and learn
Love it, way to make the most out of a small backyard
I concur
Very nice, enjoyed watching. Used the same pavers for my project in gray. But sure wish my contractor would have done a border like that. Maybe I can add later on my own now.
Looking awesome guys!

If you do pavers ...especially in the northeast, consider using the big 2'x2's .they are big & heavy and won't be as much as a problem when they shift from frost heave.
The little pavers will cause you problems with that. We put down the big Hanover pavers ...that are fantastic.

I've been a hardscape contractor for over 30 years. Installed pavers from dozens of manufacturers. They look great when installed but I've been getting more pushback and complaints from customers who's installs go back 10 years or more. We're seeing a lot of deterioration and crumbling especially on the oldest jobs. Some brands hold up better than others but a lot of that is dependent on the age and in some cases no rhyme or reason why the pavers fail on similar age identical brands of paver. In my market were seeing a fair amount of customers rejecting the pavers and going back to slate and stone for this reason.
That was an entertaining review to be fair bro. You have a new subscriber 😎
TY
I was just gonna ask David how they keep the outside pavers from shifting but then he showed us they use concrete under the outside pavers. That's pretty smart! 🤔
Yes
thanks for this post learned some tricks here. not an easy job thats for sure takes time and needs to be done right the first time
GL
The Romans laid a lot of their roads with thick small pavers, it was their idea we still use to this day. It’s the best for longevity and heavy use.
I don't think they were very thin, and they were stone
BETTER THAN CONCRETE?
...looks damn good thats hard to say tbh. Concrete with brick inlays looks very nice too.
Hard to say but it does look awesome especially how the pavers flow up against the retaining wall.
Looks Damn Good 👍
For sure
I like the concrete on the edges. I couldn’t think of what to do for that part
Concrete works
Thanks for these uploads mate. Am mid way through doing a DIY job at my place with just over 120 Square metres of paving. Yup, Im feeling old. Also had to install 5 storm water drain inlets and one inspection point. First time I have done plumbing and used a new invention called a Snap Tee. Been great looking at your youtube clips as I leant to screet and level correctly. Cheers from Australia.
I make those by cutting in half and tie wire.
TY
Nice
Damn that looks so much better than a slab
8:07 “Freehand that sh*t right there” 😂
bingo
Aswsome job wet setting the paver soldier course. great idea instead of a plastic parameter borader.

Was just thinking about how do I keep the Florida rain running off the pavers, away from the house. Beautiful work.
great
Waow bagus sekali.👍👍👍🇲🇨
great video series, as usual! In general, how does the cost of a similar stamped concrete pattern compare with pavers in a situation like this? 2x- 3x-4x? another question, have you ever done a video on dealing with boulevard trees(liquid amber as an example) that are repeatedly raising the sidewalks?
The city of Long B, Ca. each has been adamant about not removing the trees and expects the homeowner to pay for the replacement of the walkways, driveways, etc
root barriers help.
Replace with pavers. When it moves, reset the pavers.
Please consider coming to Missouri! I need New extended patio (N to S entire back of home with new patio in center), plus must have the flow to go away from the house foundation all the way around the home, as well. Stunning! Help....
Sure I would like to do a working vacation
👏👏👍.🏆 👍, very good job, thanks, sam job me from England, seven years working England, me, thanks for your 👍
Great

I really like how you used the pipe and paver, to establish finish grade to your drains. How much did the pavers settle into the sand? Was that a factor, so pavers ended up flush with drains? Just wondering if you left pavers slightly higher than string line, to account for this? (His hand was blocking camera close up). My concern is not to end up low at drains, after compaction.
Look forward to learning this important detail from your skilled team!
If the base is tight and the sand is consistent 1" you can count on a 1/4"
I like to learn more about installation paving
Great
Give Juan a raise
It looks like you guys bring the Professional 😂 good video.
Thanks! 😃
I looked a Video how you made a Slab and now this came from CZcams and i only can say you are the Rolls-Royce of all Handymens!
You need to come to Florida to see how sloppy they do all down here.......

I sure would like to make a job stop and the way to Carribeans
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Welcome !
Looks great.
When you do more you will not have to set your pipes 2 times. Get gavel close and set 1inch pipes. Do you have slag sand in California ? Much better then sand.
yes
sounds good
TY
Very nice work. What s the recommended amount of slope for drainage?
You should sweep the sand in place before you compact with the plate compactor. The sand vibrates down and settles in place preventing the pavers from breaking.
Hey my guy, I see that stucco patch. I’m here in SoCal I can match just about any finish hahaha 😝
Good to know
TY
2200 square feet is a lot of pavers I've done both I prefer concrete they both look nice but concrete goes in much faster ,I think most finishers like the in & out factor get ur done & get out of there good job guys.
I concur
TY
Great job, sir. Where did u get these pavers from? They look beautiful
Orco
Cool video. I have a mason came to give us a quote and said they will pour concrete for the driveway and backyard patio before laying down pavers. Is this a common practice? Or is it more like standard for driveway and optional for backyard patio? Thank you.
Craftsman at their best.
TY
Love it, except all the 4 way joints.
Great series. Was there enough slope to get the drain to the street or did you have to run it to a sump pump?
The drains worked
nice video i wish you had gone more into detail the drainage and how you installed it as well as your slope away from the house, thanks
Next time I sure will
Do you normally seal pavers and if so, what are some of your favorite products? We have a newly installed paver patio but it hasn't been sealed yet, I'm debating on whether or not to do it.
Glaze and Seal
Idk if better than concrete but definitely looks better in away . Idk I’m just a fan of concrete can’t go wrong with it
Yes it a matter of preference and cost
The wet set concrete perimeter, how thick is the concrete? Seems like it is prone to cracking, hence the bricks will readily move.
Also, you'd mention to soak the base rock before compacting, aren't you concerned about over saturating it & the subgrade? You could get pumping as a result.
