A warm welcome to Andrew to the farm. You are joining a fine family young man. Hope to see more of you. This video is very interesting and informative. Appreciate your hard work Eric. God bless you all.
Awesome video Eric. Congratulations to Cassidy and Andrew. Hope you enjoy your new family. Thank you guys and thank you for letting us into the farm life
I love watching how your cows kick up their heels when you put them on new bedding, fun to see. The new technologies really gives a fellow useful information at their fingertips, I guess there's some good and bad in those things, not sure, what do you think? Congrats Andrew and Cassidy on your engagement, best wishes to you both. Nice video Eric, I certainly enjoyed it and the info, thanks, have a fantastic week. 🐄
I'm sure your dad took great pleasure in telling Andrew he approved of his proposing to his daughter. Congratulations to the happy couple. And Eric, your brother followed another path to success, so you get to work with your brother in law! Job well done one and all!
Glad the last bits of the extension project are done! It looks really good. I don't know anything about shell corn but those ears looked impressive. Congrats to Cassidy and Andrew. Andrew looks like he might pretty helpful around the place. Thanks for another fun video.
Another awesome idea Eric. Congratulations to your sister and Andrew. Looks like A drew isn’t afraid to work. Should be a great help to you and your dad. Look forward to seeing both you younger guys on the farm. God bless you all.
Eric, I thought I was next in line for the 10th Generation Apprenticeship Program, but I didn't realize I had to marry into it! Well good luck to Andrew, he had his work cut out for him in this video.
Congratulations Andrew on your engagement and I’m sure you will be a welcome addition to the farm, I’m sure you will learn lots from Eric and his family about what is needed to run a very successful and thriving farm and we hope to see you in many more videos to come
That little doggy scares me...either getting run over or kicked. She is a little to brave, curious or not "street" smart yet. Is it a jack russell? They are high strung and curious little buggers.
Do you ever rinse or clean the cows? Also do you ever wash the stalls between removing all of the old bedding and adding new bedding? Is there something you add to bedding to reduce infections or skin irritations?
Eric make sure that if that’s silage corn you do a stalk bending test make sure it will stand as long as you need for dry down. That hit me one year on silage corn!
My grandfather was a dairy farm in the 30's, 40's and 50's. He was rumored to have stated that diary farming is nothing but moving shit, cleaning shit and feeding shit.
My observation, from watching several YT farmers/dairy farmers/ranchers/homesteaders...is that your grandfather was a very smart and common man...who understood life at it's base...he prolly added the dust unto dust part... in his observations somewhere, too!
Another great educational video Eric. Congratulations to Andrew & Cassidy. I’ve got a good sense that Andrew is going to fit in well. Having two strong young men around the farm is fantastic. Wishing you all well. We’ve got 15cm of snow forecasted in our neck of the woods over the next two days. It’s that time of year.
I’ve always liked seeing cows reaction to fresh bedding. I spent my first 17 years on our dairy farm so I’m pretty familiar with the dairy business. I spent another 10 years working for a beef and row crop farmer. The last farmer I worked for is the reason why I finally quit farming and took my first public job. The technology has changed a lot since to 60s 70s and 80 when I was farming.
Eric i would like to see a little more of the girls who are most friendly. I know they all love living at y'alls farm - they all truly appear to be very happy and content. And they are without a doubt the most beautiful Holstein herd i have ever seen. I know there was one girl who is always first. Then you have shown others at times who are extra friendly (nosy!!) They never cease to amaze me with their knowledge of daily routines. Never forget my Brother - our American Farmers are the backbone of this country - always have been - always will be. Thank you and God bless you and your entire family.
1. an old gravity wagon comes in handy, even years after you might not use it regularly... 2. While you have a few more steps when swapping out the inflations, your milkers are so easy. Particularly since you don't have to stretch them into the shells, that was the part I hated doing.
It feels so great watching your videos. Great content and editing skills. Short and precise. You are such a hardworking young man. Keep up the good work.
It's quite the science breeding cows. Those ear tags are pretty high tech. Anything that can help you with your return is great. Will Andrew now join the family business? Good luck to the newly engaged couple. Stay safe.
Big congratulations to Cassidy and Andrew. Am I right in guessing that Andrew will be assisting you so that your dad can take on an easier role at the farm?
I get such a kick (pardon the pun!) when you bed up the spaces and let the cows back in. They frolic and kick up their feet like they’re having a great time!!
Congradulations on Cassidy & Andrew a new member of the family welcome aboard . Heifer’s our looking real good in new barn. Dutchess is a little spit fire daredevil thing . Who beat who to the barn to have corn tested Eric? Wash utters cups to keep bacteria and germs an dirt from going into the milk . My neighbor does that every three days . Eric your one hard working man doing real good love the info .The new curtain on the barn looks really good.
I like your videos, you're very informative. Thanks for the explanation each step of the way. Many say they are videoing to educate us, but they don't explain anything, so I love watching your channel bcz you do!
I know a lot about a lot and farming and dairy cows are NOT in that fold. I've really enjoyed your channel and have learned a LOT here! It's fascinating! Absolutely GREAT content!
i worked on a farm where we got inflations from IBA,not silcon,milked 550,changed the inflations once a month.double parlor where u miled between back legs,13 on a side,26 machines,milked 3 times a day
I was watching another diary farm u tuber and was disgusted with place just wanted to say thank you for all you do to keep it clean and you animals cared for
Those are some big ass fans. I bet they do move a lot of air. When we were trying to conceive our first child they gave us a device that monitored her temp and vital signs and had different colors on the unit. This is when we only had flip phones, so this was high tech. But the light was red when all was normal, yellow when her numbers were improving and green light meant it was go time. lol She was dead serious about it too. I don't care if it was 3 am and sound asleep, 2 pm and I was mowing the grass. When that light was green I only had one purpose on this earth. It worked on all 3 of our kids. I take credit for it of course! hehe...
A question about the sawdust that you use for bedding: is it produced specifically for dairy use or is it the by-product of some manufacturing operation? Great video, as always.

It's so interesting to see all the jobs you dairy folks have to do. And glad you'll have a new family member/brother-in-law. Welcome to Andrew!
Loved seeing Dutchess charge across the field and congratulations to Cassidy and Andrew!
Wouldn't you former generations be in awe of the hand held techs you now have available. Amazing!

Thanks for the video. Where had your other dog Cayce been? Have not seen him in the vlog recently.
good video--thanks!

I was thinking about it and I wonder... have you ever had a cow sneak past all the testing and end up calving in the milking barn?
Mini cow is cute... 🙂
