Keep in mind, this woman is having to challenge life long habits that she developed to bury her past trauma. Then allowing strangers to come into her home with cameras, opening herself up to public ridicule and shame. You'd be agitated too.
@@ccdj504 I don't have an issue with her agitation. I have an issue with her being indignant and unappreciative. I understand she has many, many issues. The condition of her home is a clear reflection of that. She needs help. But she also needed a reality check. I'm glad the man helping her told her that he didn't appreciate her saying she didn't trust them. Perhaps they should have left her alone and allowed her to lose her home? They were there to help her. And sometimes, time forces you to exercise a little tough love. If you were there to help her and she took that attitude with you, I bet you'd be a bit miffed as well. Or maybe not, idk. You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. And to me, in THAT moment...she needed an attitude adjustment.
You ask me she wants to live that way she can for all i care if she talked to me that way those people don't have to help her but here they are.
It's heartbreaking to hear this woman go "I want my house back to the way it was." The extent of her psychological damage is baffling.
The cleaning up isn’t gonna do much because I’ll just get the way it was, without any psychological in the intervention because most hoarding incidences thay just got back to there old ways after the show stops

Best advice my great grandmother gave me was "wash a wall a day to keep up with your home and to keep it tidy"....I've lived by these words and passed it on to my kids. They are now adults who do the same. Take pride in your home. There is no excuse.

mike sixx I have a tenant who is a hoarder , I inherited the building and I can’t throw him out because of his team of social workers. I have to get the place cleaned up every 4 to 6 months so it doesn’t get like this. I won the right to take his cat away at the renting board at least but he appealed the change to the lease since I included he can’t have pets. I took the cat with me. This is hell , he isn’t as bad as her but this is hell , it’s always in the back of my mind and I get complaints from my other tenants cuz he steals their trash and their stuff in the lockers. I don’t know what we should do with hoarders but this is extremely difficult dealing with them, it’s a crisis every time.

You all have to realize that it’s tough to just find motivation to clean up something so massive after years and years of it getting messy. Some people don’t think like you, if it were me, hell yea I would clean it up the second it got even a tad bit awful but this lady isn’t thinking how we are and being angry and hateful will do nothing to help her. It’s frustrating, but quitting on her would only make things worse. The guy who opened up her eyes by telling her the reality of what will happen to her house did the right thing. He was strict and blunt but cursing her out would only make her mad. It’s a tough situation but with enough persuasion, the job would get done👍🏽
Trust me, I’d love to be able to smack some sense into her, but some things don’t work like that...some things take patience.

Yeah it’s kinda depressing. The upper floor collapsed from the weight of all the junk up there and she got trapped underneath and died from asphyxiation. I also hope she didn’t have dogs at that time and that the council had already intervened to get the dogs out due to the hazards there.

It's also true of people with anorexia (there's a well known HBO documentary of ladies with eating disorders in a clinic that shows this). My fridge's motor died out a few years after I moved into my own place. A company was hauling away my old fridge at the time of delivery of the new one, but that was going to take a few days. My family never allowed old groceries to linger around our house growing up, so I was ignorant about the breakdown process of meat. I cleaned the few items out of the main fridge and forgot about it. On delivery day, I opened the old freezer to clean it. I'll never forget what looked like squirming grains of rice all over a box of thawed hamburger patties. People often say feces is the worst smell there is, but I beg to differ! And seeing the neglected maggoty fridges on Hoarders reminds me all over again.

The smell isn't the main issue. Feces contains bacteria, and cleaning a house filled with it is WAY different that picking up a little accident on the floor. You can contract all kinds of diseases and respiratory problems dealing with this much piss and shit if you aren't properly suited up. Their outfits were fine, but they needed real hazmat masks and proper containers to store the shit.

My house never looked THIS bad, but I was definitely headed in that direction. The only thing that turned it all around was therapy and losing it all (due to a natural disaster). There was nothing left to save. I had to start from scratch and when I did, I ended up on the other end of the spectrum. Now I can't stand any clutter whatsoever. Honestly, I think with someone who is in denial as deep as this lady is/was, the only cure is to send her to a 30 day program and start her off somewhere else with the bare bones minimum.

She was 66, so the age seems about right, as well as her being on the show.

I did a hoard clean out in 2019 and it was the funniest thing ever.
The ladies house was absolutely disgusting, stacked to the ceiling every room shit and trash and junk.
She was super rude and tried to micromanage everything. Unfortunately for her, our project manager wasn’t so accommodating. He gave us the green light to dunk the whole house.
It made me smile so much launching 30 gallon bags of her bullshit out the second story window into the dumpster and watching her have a complete and total meltdown like a 2 year old.
This totally lacks any understanding of hoarding. It's a mental illness, not laziness or deliberate dirtiness. For some psychological reason, the hoarder clings to things. The best way to deal with this isn't just to go in and clear the house, but to give the person therapy for their hoarding. Then when the cleaning is done, they will be able to let go of things and be more likely to keep the house clean.

I work as a home care aide and I have been in houses like this. How can people be comfortable living with roaches? There are a few homes I will refuse to use the bathroom there and carry disinfectant in my bag. The worst I've ever been inside had no running water. I don't think I will ever understand what runs through these kind of people's mind. Thank God I was raised in a spotless home
