    Huge thanks to:

    So, you want to know everything about Shinnok's Amulet? This is the video to watch! In it, I cover a lot of ground - everything from its backstory in MK Mythologies to its cameo as a side mission in Konquest Mode to its current whereabouts in Mortal Kombat X. And, boy, is there a lot of ground to cover!
    Sometimes they call it "Quan Chi's Amulet" or even "The Amulet of Shinnok." But to me, it will always be "Shinnok's Amulet" no matter what.
    Is it a Kamidogu? Is it not a Kamidogu? That is the kind of thing that will be answered here.

    The new writers don't have enough respect for the old lore. They are changing elements of the story chronologically before the timeline shift. I'm sure it was frustrating for you as well when making this. Amazing video as always. One thing that struck me as odd during MKDA is while the amulet on Quan Chi's body looks different, the amulet in the endings, intro and backgrounds remain as the original. Maybe there is a meaning behind this.

    I got a 2 theory about why shinnok turns into a monster when his amulet is removed in Mkm
    1.if I remember correctly in mkm you fight shinnok in the netherrealm, a place filled with evil,
    So maybe at the time he was way less powerful and used the amulet to keep his demonic form hidden in places like the netherrealm.
    2.shinnok is making himself transform in to a demonic monster as a last resort

    • @tabmok99
      @tabmok99  Před 5 lety +1

      Raiden's timing sucked. I guess he doesn't love punctuality the way the women in MK do.
      As far as Shinnok's beast mode in MKM, that might not have been related to the power of the Amulet. It may have been just the way he gets when he's in a really bad mood.

      One could think that Raiden teleported there (from Sky Temple or otherwise) after seeing the final elemental guardian fall. That's a fair question-- A lot of people get the impression that Quan Chi is much more loyal to Shinnok in MKX than he was in previous games.
      I have a different take. I think Quan Chi is absolutely planning on eliminating his competition (e.g., the other bad guys) -- but only after wiping out the forces of good first. That seemed to be his M.O. in both his MK4 ending and the MK Armageddon "Dark Alliance" scene. Therefore, as long as Raiden and other Earthrealm heroes are still around, it makes sense for him to bring about the return of Shinnok.

    There is obviously one major difference between the two timelines: in the new timeline, Quan Chi has given Shinnok his real amulet. While the events of Mythologies take place before the timeline split and are canon to both timelines (meaning Quan Chi tricked Shinnok with the fake amulet in the past), when and why he decided to give him the real one is a mystery.

    • @tabmok99
      @tabmok99  Před 5 lety

      Right! This makes me think that, in the new timeline, Quan Chi still gave Shinnok the fake (since it happened prior to MK1) and then later revealed his act of deception.
      It was probably less a confrontation (as the MK4 ending) and more of a revelation. "I've been keeping the real one safe for you this whole time, Lord Shinnok. Sorry to keep this part of my plan hidden from you, but it was necessary to ensure Raiden and the forces of light from getting ahold of it before our plan was ready."

    The first fake duplicate was the one Quan Chi gave Shinnok after Bi Han retrieved the real one from the Temple of Elements and Bi Han stole (back) from Shinnok at the end of MKMSZ.
    The second fake duplicate was the one somehow Shinnok has in MK4 notwithstanding Bi Han stole (back) the first fake duplicate from him at the end of MKMSZ.
    The third fake duplicate was the one found by Shujinko after Shinnok told Shujinko to find it in Netherealm because Quan Chi left it somewhere in Netherealm in MKD notwithstanding the first fake duplicate was stolen (back) by Bi Han at the end of MKMSZ?
