Life in the early sixties, including these old tv shows and older movies, had an impact on me. The way people used to dress and speak clearly and to the point without being stiff, dry, heartless or arrogant. It doesn’t need to be expensive, but I dress for life - dress with some personal dignity. Personal behavior has become more casual and relaxed and I like that, but sloppy, gaudy or childish just has no class and is like wearing a banner that says; I don’t care about you and I don’t care about myself and don’t understand how important life is. Clothes don’t entirely make a man but what you wear says a lot about you. What message do you want to send?
I saw this episode as a young girl and never forgot it. It was lie the most magic scary story ever, and I've been looking for this episode to see it again. Funny I thought it was the raccoon and I was so sad he died. Thanks for posting this and ending my search to end my first
In 1971, my gf and I would come home from school and watch "Star Trek" religiously, daily.Episode ,"Assignment Earth",was particularly exciting, causing my hair to stand on end and giving me an"epiphany" of meaning that I would learn 3o years on.I became a guitarist and moved to Blacksburg,Va.where I answered an ad in the "Roanoke Times", "L.A.studio guitarist would like to jam with others, give me a call."I did,and low and behold, it was Bob Lansing,Robert Lansing's son and super musician and best friend till he passed away 2011.
The wonderful Luana Anders. one of Roger Corman's early group of actors who went on to very unique and/or very high profile careers---like Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, Bruce Dern, Robert DeNiro etc..Unfortunately she died fairly young.
I read about this story years ago when I was still in high school, and it creeped me out. I think it’s really cool that I can see the TV version of that same story, including how Roger looked. And yes, I STILL think it’s CREEPY, even today!
I had scarlet fever when I was a child. I was very sick, for a long time, sicker than I’ve ever been since. I was quarantined for weeks and had to amuse myself with books. But I was very weak, and slept a lot. That was in the early 60’s. I was lucky to survive.
The only other time I saw this episode was when I was young. I don't recall any details that are not in this current version, but I do recall the grief-stricken girl "speaking in tongues" when her beloved pet is shown to have been killed. My understanding at the time convinced me that the bigotry in the town had forced her to hide her incredible intellect and talents behind a ventriloquism relationship with "Roger," her pet, but now this seems much more ambiguous --- and sinister --- than I recalled. It truly is a remarkable episode, and I don't quite know what to make of it.
@MaGuffintop You can buy the complete collection (96 episodes) at Amazon. I watched these episodes in the 80’s. I never saw them aired again I checked Amazon and bought the complete set. Very well done. I always look for old movies or shows to add to my collection.
We're all connected, even to the Universe itself. Some of us are connected to more things than others. Fear and hate of these people is the usual response of, as she put it, "the monster." I wonder how much of our natural gifts have been 'educated' out of us.
History that was taught to us of our societies were false. Now is the time to discover the truth. Since our first parents Adam and Eve chose to believe what the devil told them, that God wanted the forbidden fruit for himself because he did not want them knowing good from bad and that the fruit would make them like God knowing both good and bad and that God was selfish and didn’t want to give them the ability to think for themselves_. It was the first lie ever told and greed was the first deadly sin to taint the human Gene...Genesis is where it began and Revelations about all the knowledge the human family had lost and by disobedience to God and our fall from grace. Listening to The Snake instead of God brought corruption upon the earth and its inhabitants forcing God to be no part of the world in which became the throne of Satan the devil the father of the lie and ruler of the earth because God is love and their is no deception found in him he can not interfere with Satan’s systems in order to prove his sovereignty to the Angels and mankind.
Oh dammit the good old days when two men would run into each other in a doorway and one'd say "Whoop, sorry" and the other would say "My fault" !! Haha
The young girl (Joan Goss) was played by the magnificent Luana Anders who had a long consistent career. She was a close friend of both actress Sally Kellerman & Jack Nicholson. She even appeared in many of Jack's classic films. He paid a personal tribute to her during his Academy Award-winning speech in 1998 for "As Good As It Gets." Author Stephen King also cited her as his matinee idol. She died in 1996 at 58. A career that spanned 1955-1997 & appeared in many well-known TV series & films. She should have become a major star. Her chilling performance at the end of this episode of One Step Beyond is one of the best scenes in the series. RIP Luana.
Out in my yard, had two adult and two raccoon kits. This year, last night in fact, saw one of the little ones, who wasnt so small anymore. I looked on him with a smile and a laugh...he saw me , stood up, spread out his little two raccoon forefeet, or hands, snapped his toes, or fingers and bippity boppity boo...one hand held a pen and pencil, and a track ruler, for use in geometry, his other held a calculator. One his back was a knapsack containing books on calculus, algebra and mechanical building, for beginners. And a tomato sandwich. I was and am so very happy he grew up and is doing so well on his own....Truly. Roger, yes, mine is Rudy. RACCOONS IN PHILLY.....LOL!🤗😄😃🤣😂😁😀😆🤔😉

These are superb they remind me of a program they showed in the 70s-80s called tales of the unexpected..The writer of that program spent a lot of his life living in America so it kind of makes sense that this is where he got his ideas from maybe..
Wow! All this & a Rabelais deathbed quote too! Outstanding. Two little flaws: the defendants were deprived of their right to trial by jury, & were without apparent counsel. They should have been tried in another venue where unbiased jurors could have been found.
Hahahahahahahahahaha....Love it!!! ....I'll get you my pretty!.....and your little raccoon too!! Isn't that splendid.... Thanks for posting. This is a VERY GOOD ONE!! Watch it! :-)
It is funni in one way but all things are possible! Man lives in sunlit world of what he believes to be reality but there is unseen by most an underworld that is just as real but not as brightly lit! A Darkside

You spoke well. Some young ladies dress scandolousky in skin-tight dresses. It is sad to see so little self-respect
@@marywilliams9858 I wish society demanded a tighter dress code. I love suits despite its anachronistic image.

charlie morris I’m sorry for the loss. :(
Great episode, such a sad ending. Roger the raccoon is adorable.
This episode was really good! That girl did a great job!
Robert Lansing (Mr. Corning) was in the Twilight Zone episode 'The Long Morrow' and the Star Trek episode 'Assignment: Earth', as Gary Seven.

Ah!! It's Gary Seven. The voice, the presence. So reassuring and compelling. How enviable!
No sign of ISIS his cat.
Thank you. I thought it was, but wasn't sure.
Well I can say with certainty that I've never seen this episode in all my years of watching this show. Thank you for uploading this one.

Launa Anders , she was in the movie ‘Easy Rider ‘
William Friedkin ( The Exorcict's director ) must have watched this episode
Racoons are quite smart, but the Classic Greek was a dead giveaway. Davey Crockett
This is the ONE OSB episode I have been looking for for years now. Thank you for uploading!
Roger is too adorable
This is one of the eeriest episodes in this series, ever, even for 2016!
MAX MARS ....oooh
I disagree. I think the civil war one was the eeriest
One Step Beyond was a great series, I watched them all as a teenager.

All true documented stories .. I have a .. 50 epoisode DVD of them.
TRUE.
KLRJUNE - kinda scary you have to explain that to people! : o

For every cruel act laid upon another's flesh or spirit , we shall pay the price
Have no recollection of this one. Very intriguing, eerie and unusual story.
She's an old looking child. Lol, love this series.
This is apparently based upon the case of "Gef the Mongoose". But its set in different time and place and takes other liberties.
I thought so too
It is Rocket Raccoon! XD
You should realize the heavily edited is a serendipitous. I remember rare b/w television and this doesn't have the computer sterile look.
Now that was weird.
My raccoon only spoke Pig Latin.
Lol, mine spoke with a Jamaican accent.
After a spliff, or all the time?
While smoking a spliff and drinking Appleton Rum.

There's a Simon Pegg movie coming out with this same premise - wow! 😮
My God this program, especially the music, frightened this child. I had horrible nightmares; was I sleeping,
or was I living these horrors ?
This episode is creepy as hell
Creepy Jesus doing the narration is not really needed.
Robert Smalley Yup, makes it even creepier.
There's Gary Seven!
A pet Racoon speaking Classical Greek, really Cool or really Creepy? Lol.
Very good question at the end. Such ignorance and superstition continue.
