This story of human existence and love transcending death is touching and quite believable. William Shatner really was a good actor. A bit Shakespearean at times and had he been born ten years sooner would have been known as such. At 92 years old now in 2021 he's relegated to appearing in commercials for Medicare. These old TV shows makes me appreciate him more.

Some say Shatner was convincing in this as a German but I couldn't see it here. He seemed more like James Kirk the more I watched it. He was extremely moving in other character roles he was cast in. I kept imagining, as I listened, that he was going to almost run out of options and then call Spock from the Enterprise to come with a crew and help defuse the bomb!! Still, he was a stellar actor. Just me . . . ╫

I find it so weird...to see Shatner...talking...like a normal human being. He does not even stop...his arms...halfway in the air...every time...he stops halfway...through...a sentence.
I don't believe Roddy had a brother, tho he did have a sister. Roddy and Paul have different spelling for their last name, too. The POW with Paul (aka Captain J T Kirk) did have a passing resemblance to Roddy, tho much too old at that time. But then, I think you might just be being silly & that's quite alright!
This is now my favorite episode (even though I didn't upload it :-) William Shatner was great in this. His German was passable but considering that he actually is a German immigrant it could have been better...
I think that William Shatner and Richard Basehart went to the same "dramatic-pause" acting school. Richard Basehart (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea) is almost as "hard" to watch as Shatner.
