- The Invader 1951 episode of the Sci-fi TV series tales of tomorrow.
The young Eva Gabor is in this classic episode about a UFO that
crashes into the ocean. a scientific expedition in the area sends a
diver down to investigate the strange event. review by Broken Trout - Zábava
"It's the science that's important, not the scientist!"
Somebody should tell Neil De Grasse-Tyson this...
Thanks for sharing this classic!
New York is where I want to stay,
I get allergic smelling hay,
I just adore a penthouse view,
Darling I love you but give me Park Avenue!
Oh my word. I simply loves these black and whites. Especially on a rainy day. They are so relaxing. Thanks for the upload😀
I do love the black and white tv shows and movies as well. They have a different feel to them.
This a good look at the time in TV when actors made the story real, not special effects!
Agreed! Thanks for the comment Keith.
Everything was always creepier in black & white, adds to the mysterious aspect. Thanks for another treasure from before I was born that I get to enjoy. Thank you!!!
Aw shucks J. Thank you for the comment.
In 1951 apartment rentals were probably about $50-75 a month, so that $12.95 Kreisler watch band would have been expensive at that time 😗
About 140.00 in today's money
The beautiful Eva Gabor! 😲😍 Great story and cast too! A early version of The Invaders perhaps 😉 Love those Kreisler ads 😄👍👍
Eva Gabor was married five times and died on July 4, 1995 (age 76).
She had no children, but she was Lisa Douglas, an inspiration to us all!
she seemed to look a great deal older here than on Green Acres - almost didn't recognize her.......
Remember my dahling, don't get even,
Get EVERYTHING. 😘😏
I do agree she does look very much older here 😕
A dark tale with a point!
Ava's acting was really good, she was very passionate..heart breaking. The off screen approach bugs me, cause I just automatically imagine what happened but I'd prefer a shaky, awkward insert...than imagination. Yeah, powerful TV, clever and ambitious...warts and all!
That first commercial I thought they were selling dueling pistols! I thought “Wow, the 1950’s were awesome!!!!”
" it came from outer space" was made in 1953.
Eva was the talented Gabor.
Agreed.
I was waiting for the first "dahling" ...at 1.25 so early.
Loved this. Thank you Trout :o)
Aw shucks Tonithenightowl, your welcome.
Good episode☃
So much for the "unvasion."
Oh, and Eva Gabor - Green.Acres is the place to be.....
Now that was funny right there Steve.
And she still says "Dahling". Wonder if she made everyone some "hotscakes"?
Wasn‘t that Zsa Zsa Gabor? They looked very similar though 😄😉
@@RedcoatsReturn Eva Gabor's name was stated at the opening credits of the program.
The music is Bartok's Miraculous Mandarin.
New for 1951, Dueling pistols !!!.
Eva saying "Dahling" even back then
❤
I think William Shatner must have taken acting lessons from "Roy" ;)
Apparently, Eva Gabor said "Dah-ling" in every TV show she was ever in.
Check her out in "Forced Landing" She was a one trick pony alright. thanks for commenting snowjob.
snowjob Arnold the Pig Did it!
snowjob I thought the exact same thing lol Zaza was famous for saying it, too. The British love saying it as well. :o)
May be the audio cables used are made in China/ Taiwan. Darling heard as dahling. RIP Eva Gabor. Fr.incredible india.
This live program ended 3 mins ahead of schedule! It’s a mess at the end.
I think I want the Kreisler Montecristo ! 😂
Me too Hugo, look at those prices!
@@BrokenTrout so cheap it would be silly not to ! 😁😂
@Randay Sunday agreed ! 👍🏼😁
That scientist seems like he cares about only himself & as he claims it's about science 😠
very good and very creepy. check it out!
According to imdb the son William Eythe became an alcoholic and died from hepatitis at age 38
I was looking for the Tales of Tomorrow episode with the carpet maker ads, not watch bands.
I'm sorry.
Check out "Tales Of Tomorrow" (Season 2, Episode 19, "Bitter Storm"), which is sponsored by Masland Carpets, and is available for viewing here on CZcams.
That watch band was pretty steep. Roughly about $125 in 2018 dollars.
Those ads always make me smile. a Timex was probably $6.00.
I remember having to replace my watch band sometime around 1961. Not sure if it was a Kreisler but it tore my arm up, like hamburger.
@@godfreecharlie Speidel also made watch bands (and still do), but they are now focusing on selling watches, including pocket watches, too.
Reminds me of an Ed Wood movie.
green acres..eva gabor ...
@Daemon Hauyer Eva.
Do you know if there is any source of Season 2 of Tales of Tomorrow. All the available DVDs are Season 1 only. I only see Season 1 episodes on CZcams and only limited Season 1 on www.archive.org
Check archive again Bill, I think I saw a few. search all video "tales of tomorrow" check copyright though, some were renewed.
now the is really unusual with all the exploring the Russians are doing at the south pole. They found a creature that can make itself look like a man. It tricked a fellow explorer and killed him.
And in 2016 he won the presidency of the US.
Yes, I read this. It was a giant octopus that formed itself into the shape of a diver. One of the diving team approached "the diver" and was killed. Chilling.
Sounds almost like the plot of the Sci-Fi story "Who Goes There?"
This came out, the same year i was born ,,, But i don't remember it .,. LOL ,,, "Baby Boomers" ,, ***Rule*** ,,, LOL
Was the specimen at the beginning a real species?
Am I the only one who loathes Eva Gabor? I cant stand her accent. But the watch in this flick was Awesome!!! Ty
this one was good until the ending ,leaves you like ..what the ..could have been better.
Some of the episodes can be a little hit or miss alright.
Yes, it was like... well it’s time to end the show- let’s just kill everybody... the end!
Dang.. Wish i hadn't read these comments before watching, lol !!
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
there was nothin wrong with it , absolutely based on the truth that many alien races consider human life as worthless
Dark on the boat but light under water?
So dramatic.
Where's Oliver?
1ml or 1 cubic cm, not 1 cm. I find the old geezer is too imprecise to lecture anyone on science.
Hitchcock’s move to the US from the U.K. lowered his IQ substantially. And such bad acting.
Think the show was a comedy; script and acting was hilarious.
In the late-1940s and early-1950s, most TV drama programs were broadcast live in New York City. Actors and actresses only had a few days to memorize their lines, and to make adjustments on the fly when network "standards and practices" required a last-minute script change. It was not unusual for even the best actors and actresses to flub their lines on television. For film actors/actresses, it was a problem, because they could not stop the action, and do a retake to get the lines right. Broadway stage actors/actresses had a somewhat easier time, as they were trained to make adjustments to their lines if they forgot them, to say whatever they wanted as long as it worked within the main storyline of the play. These TV programs were known as, and are still called today as, "teleplays".
What did you expect from early 50's TV, The Mandalorian? 🤨
Sooooo. “Science is important, not the scientist!” Well, without scientists there is no one to do alllll the sciency stuff. Not very precise, geezer scientist.
BORING AND VERY CORNY, AND FAR TOO DARK. I SHALL NOT BE WATCHING THIS AGAIN, COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.
