    Despite my best efforts, I keep learning from you. Thanks for the tips. I remember a quote from Jack Benny, who could actually play pretty well, that on violin you have to practice to be bad at it. You're a lot better player than I'll ever be on that instrument. Thumbs up to crush a troll.

    I always enjoy watching this non fiddle player play fiddle. He plays fiddle better than any non fiddle player I have seen. LOL 🎻

    On that String set the E String is also wound, the Aluminum Wrap Wire softens the tone quite a bit to prevent it from sounding too harsh

    Thanks again Jerry for another great instructional video.. it just so happens I just finished putting the fingerboard on my customers new fiddle I just finished. So, I’m at the pegs/bridge/tailpiece/sound post stage.. so perfect timing on this video.. I can’t play a lick on a violin. But a local violin teacher volunteered to check it out once I’m done for feedback.
    Wish me luck.. it’s my first attempt.. turned pretty well.. I think I left a tad to much wood on the bass bar.. sounds kind of bassy when I tap listen to the sound she makes.. guess we’ll find out for sure soon.. lol
    Thanks again for your sharing and deep knowledge about instruments. It’s invaluable IMHO.

    Standard nut to bridge length is 328mm.You always say 325. Small variations is possible but rule of thumb is 328mm.

    I would change those friction pegs out to mechanical ones so tuning up would be easier, however w/ Wittner Fine Tune pegs I wouldn't have to make any other mods other than just swapping those pegs. Mechanical pegs also eliminate the need to have fine tuners on the tailpiece

      @@zapa1pnt Maybe not, & I think it's because especailly in extreme weather conditions geared tuners will make a big difference.

    • @willmorrison1022
      @willmorrison1022 Před 2 lety +2

      Yes. They are the same thing. Even the old Germans and Italians called it a fiddle. They are the same, but a fiddle smells like beer (so I've heard. Mine doesn't).
