In this video we will be talking about the Dorman aluminum thermostat housing upgrade that replaces the factory plastic version that is prone to leak, break, and cause a check engine light.

Eh, at least there's a better product now. I'm just waiting on the ticking/knocking from the cams, and the oil cooler to leak. Luckily, you're already a step ahead on the videos for those. This 2011 3.6L (Chrysler T&C) has been pretty resilient, to my surprise. It's the stuff in the rest of the vehicle that's had me ticked off. The TIPM module (fuel pump relay stuck closed) I had to hot wire, change out alternators (3 now), changed out window regulator assy's (3 driver side, twice on the passenger side, all Dorman replacements that had failed along with OEM) and the Remote Start module that is intermittent.

Outstanding! Thanks for sharing that! I had a 2011 Dodge Journey with the P0128 code, and when I pulled the thermostat housing, I found the plastic ears that hold the thermostat in place had broken off. I got the pieces out by pulling the lower radiator hose.
On another Dodge Caravan with the 3.6, I told the customer to "harden" the cooling system, so it got Dorman's new aluminum oil cooler manifold and the and the crossover pipe.
Dorman also makes the the heater hose assemblies for Chrysler mini-vans that have an aluminum Y fitting instead of the factory plastic. Another suggested upgrade.

Guys just my 2 cents I have 2 2015 Chrysler 200C AWD with the 3.6 I ran a test and it seems that its working, believe it or not, I remove the huge beauty = noise cover on top of the engine on one and left it one the other one since I purchased both cars in 2017 as lease returns, the day I purchased both at the same dealer, they had to replace the both coolers because obviously both were leaking already with 20K Original miles both were purchased middle 2014 as 2015 models, ANYWAY to make the long story short, both cars are driven more than les the same around 10K miles a year my daughters are using them, the car WITHOUT the beauty cover had it replaced only ONCE when I purchased the cars, the other one with the cover 3 times in TOTAL so, I have a theory that that FRICKING huge beauty cover with all the noise reduction foam is not letting the heat dissipate, it just cooks everything there under it... I just decided to remove the second one since last time the cooler was removed and no issue so far...Thank GOD! I purchased the lifetime warranty on both... spread the word REMOVE THE BEAUTY COVERS ON ALL 3.6 PENTSTAR ENGINES! bunch of dumb FCA engineers

Hmmmm Wish they made this for my Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 2015 limited 3.6l. I hate plastic components! I got the slight oil leak from the oil cooler and about the replace that plastic POS. Would be nice to replace the thermostat while I am at it. I do have one quick question. When I drive up an incline, Ive gotten the jeep (Now it was an extremely hot 90 degree day both times) to where the engine temp hit 222 and climbing. I backed down, threw the heater one and got it controlled to 210 to 215 or so BUT that was a horrible experience. New coolant and everything in vehicle, no air bubbles in line, no codes. Had Jeep look at it, couldnt duplicate, said its a non issue. Im not happy with that as I am nervous going out of town with it. What do you think it could be? Any thoughts? Again, no codes.

Which non Mopar one do I go with if I cant wait? Dorman appears to have a plastic one available, do I give that a try, or park the thing until the Mopar ones come in at the dealer? P0128 by the way, coolant level is good, temp staying between 180 and 185, never gets hotter than that otherwise running and driving fine.

It points in different directions on different vehicles. Front wheel drive vehicles point towards the left side/towards the radiator while others like the one in the video point towards the right side of the engine. Depends on the vehicle and there are different part numbers for different housings because of this. Sorry to disagree but your not correct
