    In this guitar lesson I will show you note-for-note how to play "Get Back" by The Beatles.
    This legendary song by The Beatles contains lots off cool guitar chords and licks. In this Get Back guitar lesson, you are going to learn all of them quickly and easily.
    There are basically two different sections to the song, the verse and the chorus. The verse chords are very simple and are suitable for the beginning level guitarist to learn. For both the verse and the chorus we will have to learn both George Harrison's and John Lennon's guitar parts separately since they are quite different even they compliment each other very well.
    The trickiest part of learning "Get Back" on the guitar will be the chorus. John Lennon's guitar part here can be a bit of a challenge since you have to go from playing a single note bass line into a quick chord change with a fast strumming pattern.
    Take it slow when learning this part and wait till your hand gets used to the chord shapes before trying to get it up to speed. George Harrison's rhythm part for the chorus goes through the chord progression twice, but the second time around he adds some A7 chord stabs in there. The timing of those chords is essential, so make sure you are very familiar with the sound of the original recording before attempting to learn it on the guitar.
    After all of this we begin our look at the guitar solo. The solo repeats the same melodic figure a lot with a different ending each time. It has a very country guitar vibe about it and it and is very fun to play after you get it up to speed. I will also go through the outro solo which is very similar to the main solo except for a different ending. Very easy to memorize. :)
    Have fun with this classic from The Beatles!
    Carl...

    I admire your accuracy to detail on all the songs that you put out on your lessons. Knocking on for 80 now and still thoroughly enjoy going over old material that you put out that I got slightly wrong in my group days . Thank you very much Carl ,could have done with you in the early 60s

    Really good ear on that chorus part, I had been playing the lost note as the A note, the root, note the b7th, or the G note. Thanks!

      Watching the film, guitar plays the A and the G is played by the piano, which is what fools the ear.

    You're a cool guy, Carl! Thanks for the lesson. I've hit your channel up over the past decade while learning guitar and I always learn something. And it actually gets better now that I know my scales and stuff. You just show how to play the thing without all the fluff, i can figure out all the theory I want on my own time. Thanks!

    Thanks again for another great lesson Carl, very clear and easy to follow. there is one part missing.... just before the piano solo there is a walk down in 6ths from A 12th fret on 5th string to C 3rd fret on 5th string, probably played on the piano but I play it on guitar for completeness.....at the 1:08 mark.

    Funnily enough, we're essentially getting two lessons in one here cuz this song is played nearly exactly as The Rutles - Get Up and Go.

    Two things you missed. 1, John slides (not jumps) from D to A during the verse. 2, George only plays his chords during the up beat after John chugs his chord.

      @mda037 Před 9 lety +4

      Justin J. Clare Agreed. The second guitar A maj is being up-picked on the up-beat in the intro to this song. The rest of this instructional vid is spot-on but a "minor" critical technical correction to this lesson. A rare song lesson mistake by Carl here. Much love for the free lessons of course overall though :)

      That's a great observation about how the two rhythm guitars are alternating or intermixing. I was listening to the recording and it sounded a little different than his lesson, and I think you identified what was missing. It also seems to me that George's guitar sounds "brighter" which may be due to the guitar or amp or just because his notes are higher pitched than John's. It's a very inventive, distinctive, and effective sound.
