Yeah, I am super glad that this content is never old. People will always be wondering about different things like this video is about.
We use сейчас in any sentence with the neutral meaning of ‘now’ or ‘this moment’ in it, which literally means ‘this time’ or ‘this hour’.
But, we use теперь only in those sentences, where we are answering an implied or actual question ‘and what about now?’.
I always imagine that теперь is a contraction of ‘тем перечит’ or ‘те перечить’, which means ‘by that, it contradicts’ or ‘to go across those’ respectively. From both, one can easily derive the meaning of ‘the present moment contradicts, or is put in contrast to the previous moment’, thus, ‘the change of one’s state’.

I came to think of сейчас as specifically "at this point in time" (no other moments in time are relevant) eg: "сейчас I will make coffee", where as теперь is about contrasting the past with the present.. Теперь I am happy (unlike before) :) Thanks for another great video... Sub'd

Сейчас is not completely the same as 'now' because we also use сейчас when English speakers use 'right now'. In Russian, you can say прямо сейчас but it's used rarer than 'right now'. E.g. 'I'm reading _right now' = Сейчас_ я читаю (not прямо сейчас я читаю)
Maybe you could translate теперь as "from now on". Just a suggestion, maybe it'd be easier to understand.
While that makes sense in the "now" time frame, "from now on" also suggests that the state will not change again, which isn't necessarily accurate. "But now" or "unlike before" might flow a little better. Fedor did a good job explaining it, though!

In -ого/-его in the end of a word or a part thereof (e.g. сегодня == сего + дня).
If I understand, теперь is used when the circumstances can be or have changed, whereas cейчас is the direct translation of now?

Seems to be like in French maintenant=Сейчас VS désormais=Теперь.
But désormais is used ONLY IF the change is permanent or unlikely to end soon.
For exemple : The traffic light was green, maintenant it is red.
Is it exactly the same in Russian?
If you expect the traffic light to become green again in a few minutes, can you still use Теперь?
And what about ныне?

Be Fluent In Russian Could you cover "твоему" и "твоей" and so on. You know, all the "your", "mine" and "their" in all the different genders :)

Yes, maybe not 100% match, but the idea is close, very close.
@@BeFluentinRussian The difference in English is in the syntax. ТЕПЕРЬ corresponds to NOW at the beginning of a statement, which expresses a contrast: Now I'm a manager. СЕЙЧАС corresponds to just using the present tense, or using (RIGHT) NOW or AT THE MOMENT at the END of the statement: I'm a manager (right) now/at the moment.
Change the title if it's possible, you accidentally wrote тут instead of теперь.
