With next gen fighters a new fly by light fibre optic system would be part of a new design. Japan has been already working on that for their next gen fighter.
I'm wondering if thrust vectoring would require a longer runway for the Arrow. I think the Arrows parachute was located in the round bulge between the engines. It looks like it was taken away.
