    I’m glad you’re posting again I just recently picked up an Audi A5 B8 2.0t I love it. My plans are to eventually make it B8.5 because I love the look so much. So I’ve started making it a little bit more bullet proof by getting GFB diverter valve and catch can etc. My next move will be intercooler, turbo kit and tune, suspension and exhaust. I started following you about a month ago when I started doing my research on upgrades. That wide body look is on point and this I must say is the best I’ve seen yet! I followed you on instagram too. Keep those videos coming brotha!!🔥🔥🔥🔥

    I believe I am somewhere at 390-400 HP on my 2017 Audi S3 without having done a carbon cleanup.
    I have a ram air intake from USP + turbo inlet upgrade. I tried to copy Eventuri's design in the air filter. The air intake has definitely made a HUGE Difference in power. Also got RS7 Spark Plugs THESE ARE NOT GAPPED. I kept their original gapping to allow for more power but, potential less reliability in the forms of misfires. The higher the gap (usually) = more power. No problems so far and as a matter of fact I have 0 misfires now.
    Also got the APR Coil Packs. I also have the dogbone insert mount which has believe it or not increased my 0-60 time due to the car remaining planted to the ground. Michelin PS4S tires. Unitronic Stage 1+ ECU + TCU Tune. Using Liquimoly for all my fluids and have seen some noticeable results. Haldex pump has a new filter as well to fix previous traction issues.
    At this moment I am contemplating Stage 2, an intercooler, and additional Subframe Mounts.
    What are your temps right now that you can see in the dash? Not through data logging.
    I usually see 210 nominal operating temp and when I get on it it makes at 230. However, on average when I drive somewhat hard it will be at 224 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, I'll turn the car off and my radiator fan kicks up due to the car being very hot. I am thinking it might be coolant related but, my water pump is not leaking. Or maybe I need an intercooler.
    You should look into a carbon cleaning as well. I am meaning to do that next.

      Main amazing right up, loving your build I might have to try the Audi r7 plugs, and agreed I just did a video on spark plugs. I have mine gapped at 28, the suggested from apr .24 made me loose torque, and power.
      My intake temp with my Wagner racing inter cooler on a hot, is around 190, and when I push it around 212, but then there’s the met I have it post inter cooler so my mad doesn’t read the data, but it basically cools my intake about 40%, it’s like your first drive when your engine is cold, or if the temp is around 60%. Meth is what gave me the big jump up to , 450, before I was around 400 like you, I also ad heat to every gallon of boost juice, which helps with the cooling, and octane, I’m also running Apr 100 octane racing file. What’s your insta would love to follow your build
      Also I had that fan issue before my inter cooler upgrade, and my temps where close to yours

    • @DaveThaBossDTB
      @DaveThaBossDTB Před 4 lety +1

      @@brucecustommotors Good to know. I will see what temps look like during stage 2 but, an upgraded intercooler would maybe make more sense at that point.
      I was thinking about meth as well. I did not want to install a tank in the trunk though, and I was thinking about pulling it from my windshield wiper fluid reservoir. I do not plan on using it 100% of the time. I would like to run it maybe 5% of the time when racing other people.
      You suggest running a custom map for Meth or should I just use it for cooling purposes? I do not want to go E85 and it seems like meth is maybe the next best thing next to doing a full turbo upgrade (bigger turbo means I lose the low rpm torqueyness of the IS38), having the engine bored for higher displacement, and going fully stage 3.
      What's next on your list? I have a bunch of cosmetic stuff I want done soon as well aside from performance upgrades.

    Run like this for 2 years now, I don’t drive it lightly either.
    Most would say it’s silly to do old school mods on a 2002 Audi A4 Quattro, I say it’s practical and safe, as long as you do your math right and compensate for the issues caused (too rich or too lean) timing issues etc, all issues have solutions.

      RotorMan Dan if it’s in your budget I would go k04, I was torn between going k04 because forums would say it’s not worth it, or much of a difference From the k03. Man the k04 make me feel like I have a v8, also the b7 platform has already have a base of big turbo upgrades that can be cheaper than b8 and above, people mastered that year, my brother has a b7 1.8t pulling numbers close to mine. But I was in your same boat, I lost some boost, and a little white 💨, so when I looked my turbo waste gate had play in it, and I switched to a gfb dv valve. You can also find a k03 on eBay for about 2 to 300 bucks or less if you dig enough, but I’m really impressed with the numbers on the Mazda , I know you will go beast mode on the a4, 3 main causes , of no boost, is diverted, waste gate, or pcv. • @brucecustommotors
      @brucecustommotors  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeh its all about the timing, and tune, you just have to know the right time to start your spray, and max out your spray, thru the highest boost. APR is a safe company, so they don't promote anything outside of a tune. for b8 and below platforms, we don't have the option of e85, because were not flex fuel, and our intake manifold. So methanol is our best option, but I prefer it because, you can get more of gain. Apr can put you at like 380 with e85, look at my link in the description. Heck I know people running meth, and e85. Overall meth gives you more timing, cooling, octane, and helps with predestination, so you can push your car harder, when I was with revo, I just advanced my timing with my sps controller, and apr 100ct race file ads more timing so I put 2 and 2 together, and stage 3 just gives you more visual features with your controller, but everything else is the same. Glad I could help, and thanks for subscribing

    I've heard rumors of turbo oil leak from blocking off the intake manifold driver side pcv port. Maybe something to do with over loading the diverter valve lines since some pressure would normally be venting out off the valve cover driver side pcv port. Also the crankcase would be venting out of only 1 valve cover pcv port versus 2 ports, what it was originally designed. Replacing the cyclonic oil separator with one that is lacking a cyclonic system is not a good idea. I understand that the whole idea is to prolong carbon build up on the intake valves. I've researched all Audi A4 B8 FWD 2.0 catch can systems. I think all of the catch can designs (BFI, Billet, ECStuning, CTS, etc) for this particular vehicle all have flaws. The reason being it completely ignores either the driver side or the passenger side pcv vent system by simply blocking off a side. In addition of the block off, some system completely replaces/remove the cyclonic oil separator. If I was to do a catch can system for this vehicle, I would go with the ECStuning system that keeps the cyclonic oil separator. It covers the passenger side pcv port -TO- ECS catch can -TO- turbo inlet. Then I will install a custom catch can system mount on the driver side firewall that covers the driver side pcv port -TO- baffled catch can -TO- intake manifold. That would be an ideal system for me to prevent a problem down the road. Catch cans you'll have to keep empty them, even more often if your driving region have bumpy roads and hills. Either that or don't install one and remove your instake manifold ever 90k miles or so, manually turn the crank to close each cylinder's valves and clean them one by one. I would also inspect the intake valves using a borescope every now and then. Stupid direct injection system with constant computer regulating unnessary shit for daily driving for the sake of optimal fuel economy by a few miles and slightly lower emission in theory not taking into factor the driver's behavior. Like the eco start/stop system. You have to ask yourself with the high amount of high pressure fuel injectors being replaced due to direct injection system and the high amount of starters being replaced due to constant use from eco start/stop system. How much energy or resources does it take to manufacture those items and transport them to sell to consumers. Is is worth having a direct injection system and eco start/stop for daily use? Port system works just fine and gets pretty good gas mileage if its an inline 4 with more gears keeping the rpm low at cruising speeds.

    • @brucecustommotors
      @brucecustommotors  Před 3 lety +1

      if your seals are worn, you can have that problem, which is why I put a breather on mine, to your point to elevate crank case pressure.

My car will smoke badly and the can fills quickly when I install the can system. • @brucecustommotors
      @brucecustommotors  Před 4 lety +1

      It’s seems that catch cans cause crank case pressure in your engine, and in some cases leaks from your valve , and timing cover, so I put it there to let out the crank case pressure, the traditional Pcv valve, put the pressure back into your intake manifold, which will cause carbon build up, over time, from all of the regular blow by, from your piston rings, which is normal, especially if you have a tune, so it’s bitter sweet

      Khalid jabar I actually have an back up engine with forged rods and pistons, and timing chain, 2 tunners, told me my our engine peaks at 450 hp, one said 400hp, so it’s safe to say 450 is more ideal, being that if you tune an s3 or gulf r with the same engine you can reach dose numbers . But to awnser your question. I’ve been sitting on the extra engine for a 1 1/2 years🤣😂, I’m reluctant to do the work because, the forded parts will only make my engine stronger, but not as power. Although it is ported but that won’t be any power you will feel. And the cam follower is solid, I normally take of my fuel pump twice a year to check for wear on the fuel pump end of the follower.💯💯💯💯💪💪💪💪

    These mods look all great, the big questions for me was what did you do about the tuning? Is the APR K04 turbo just the turbo+manifold bolt on with the S3 injectors, or did this need adjusted fueling / ignition timing? And I see with APR's K04 they require their upgraded high pressure fuel pump to feed the beast.. Do you have the upgraded HPFP?

    • @brucecustommotors
      @brucecustommotors  Před 4 lety +6

      the apr tune is pre loaded with timing fuel and boost, I can change maps, from stock to 104 . I normally use 104 map with my meth. apr says with k04 with out meth and added injectors they can get you to 385.hp. I guess i got lucky before i added my s3 injectors, and turned on my meth I dynoed at 391, after i put in the s3 injectors, and turned on my meth on 93 octain i was pushing 433. once I switched to the 104 octane map i averaged out at 452.
      Yes apr is only turbo and manifold, they recommend that you go to a colder spark plug like ngk 8 . and gap them 23.
      For the b8 and above ther is not an upgraded hpfp pump available. I thought the same thing. if you look on apr sight you can see its for b7 and bellow. with revo you can play with your timing, fuel, and boost with an sps switch, but be careful lol

    • @brucecustommotors
      @brucecustommotors  Před 3 lety +2

      no ie should do the trick, for example, when I went k04 and ran my 100 octane file. I would get some lean codes from time to time, because the factory injectors, could not match the air flow for the fuel to air ratio. So I upgraded to the s3/golf r injectors, and I was able to optimize the full power of my tune and gain some horse power,(its also recommended by apr and various tuners) and never received a lean code again, ideally your tune will request the fuel to match the air from you maf (Mass air flow sensor) regardless if you can get it are not, and the size of the s3 injectors vs the stock is to small of a variable to run rich with just spraying. here's a right up

    • @brucecustommotors
      @brucecustommotors  Před 4 lety +1

      Eric Thomas I felt the same way, before I went k04 , especially from reading the forum’s, about is it really that big of a difference, I was also afraid to loose bottom end torque, but my k03 had waste gate issues, already, so I said what the hell. I was actually surprised how much power it gave, me, it was the same feeling as my first stage 1 tune, as we all know going from stage 1 to 2 is really not to impressive, more gain, but nothing like that first one, I honestly feel like a v8 now, before I would do pulls , with stage 2 on like m3’s mustang gt, and 392, and about 90 I would step off the gas because they would pull me, I kind of stayed in my power curve lane, know the top and just keep going and I pull on them. It’s definitely a big increase, and worth it , I just raced a c8 corvette from a 60 pull, and we were neck and neck, of course around 120 is when there extra cylinders would take over but who races over 120, same with hell cats etc... it doesn’t really matter if you go CT’s, hpa, or apr, there all k04’s and just basically put you in a position we’re you can run more power, for example if you pout a k04 tune on your k03 it would probably burn it out, so basically a k04 internally can handle more power, I would say it’s like forged internals in the engine 💪💪💪🔥

    • @brucecustommotors

      If you run it without a tune you will get, better performance do to the cooler engine temps, and higher octane which is about 105 it will also , help to keep your internals clean. The tune ads more timing which gives you the most horsepower which can go as far as 60hp, with out the tune you will probably get about 10hp increase, but you still have the other perks

    My friend I have a question, is there an order to those mods? cause If you install for instance the s3 fuel injectors before changing the turbo I think its pointless, that is a change you need to do when you change your turbo for a bigger one right? so besides the software upgrade (revo, apr, etc) and changing the exhaust and downpipe and Intercooler, what else can you do before changing the turbo??

    • @brucecustommotors
      @brucecustommotors  Před 4 lety

      Yes , you're right. I think if you changed the injectors first you would run rich, which is to much fuel, the intake, may not be able to provide enough air to accommodate, the added fuel. For example when i went k04 big turbo, I was running lean before i switched my injectors, which means I had to much air and not enough fuel.so what else you can do, is get a diverter valve, which helps the turbo spool up, a little better. Also a sprint booster. which improves your 0 to 60, and gives you full control of your throttle, and takes away the electronic lag, you may mentally feel like your anti lag is gone. I m going to do a video on it next week. also a throttle body spacer, improves your torque, and ofcourse an air intake.

      Yes our cars or under tuned oem tremendously, other than manuals they build almost equivalent platform forms as s3 cars . For example my bud has a stage 2 s3 running 425hp, and I always beat him by 2 cars. I’m definitely at the peak , every one says from a tuning perspective , 450 is the max .they say before I run into risk but so far so good, I’ll be the Ginny pig for the group. I figured if I blow something, I’ll just get forged internals, like piston rings/ springs and valves, as far as transmission, apr has torque management which briefly, reduces torque before gear change, is almost like your sliding into gear, you still have the dsg fart but it’s smooth. With revo, I don’t think my car would have lasted, I would get whiplash after every shift, it put all the power , to every gear shift, it was fun, but I wanted something mor conventional , I could drive every day. Apr only gives power when you ask for it, revo gives it on a tap, but both make it to the finish line at the same time, just a different way

    Hey bro i need some great advice from you since your like Albert Einstein on this platform. So I bought me a 2010 Audi A5 Quattro Manual AwD its at 151,000 miles on it. I replace new rocker arms and cams and clutch recently and my turbo is out but im driving perfectly fine like a brand new car. But to go the same route as you is it worth doing it with the condition and me being the third owner ? Because I know its alot of money to tear down a motor just to see if the engine is in good health but should i risk doing that because I know its hella expensive or is it safe to just start putting in a Ko4 turbo into it with same mods like you with out the watermeth?

I wanted to know exactly what S3 injectors you are running? Can you give me the part number and where you got yours? Did you upgrade your high pressure fuel pump? Have you gotten any codes lean or rich? Enjoyed the video man, keep up the good work!

      Chris K for our car which is the same, apr does not offer an high pressure fuel pump, or turbo sensor. I too was looking to upgrade it, the b7 and b6. , and some gti’s offer the upgrade and engine fart noise were as ours doesn’t have a need. Yes I was running lean , a lot before I put the injectors in, once I put in the Bosch s3 injectors . It solved my problem, if you’re running rich , try cleaning your mass air flow sensor often , because of the boost level and air flow it tends to get dirty quick depending on what air intake system you have . I’m going to send you a link to the injectors, the injectors will level your tune and ensure the gas matches the air flow, our factory injectors are maxed out with the k04

    • @brucecustommotors
      @brucecustommotors  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeh that chip tuner or race tuner is like just a extra sport mode on your vehicle, at least the race chip, but that is mounted in your engine and reprograms the signals to your engines, the ones that go into the USB port with out software programming prior to it, that you can switch back and forth I’m skeptical about. But race chip does ad like 30 hp, but if you’re on a budget. Here’s some first baby steps, and it’s all about your budget in order know. the race chip would be a waist of money if you ever plan on going stage 1 tune, but sprint booster can be ran with a tune, and actually feels like a tune. I have a video on it you should check it out in my playlist under tune and performance
      1. Air intake, about 150$ to 300, any airflow helps your engine get more air in for a better combustion
      2. Gfb diverter valve, 100$ helps your turbo hold boost better
      3. Sprint booster, quicker throttle response bout 250$
      4. Stage one tune best bang for your buck (of course if it’s not in your budget you can take baby steps with the stuff above )about 399-499$ depending on who you go with, apr/revo/ie recomended

      yeh all stock internals, all of my tunners says the most the engine can take, stuff like pistons and rings, and valves is 450hp. im right at the breaking point. the transmission seems to hold up aswell, but the shifting works better with apr tune, with revo it was real hard shifts. but apr has a torque management which reduces the torque right before you switch the gears. so its seamless gear switching. but honestly no issues, I figured if i blow something, ill just go forged internal to take up to 600hp, but of course that will be with a different turbo and fuel system. if the m3 isn't tuned with the right mods shouldn't be an issue. but a tuned m3 depends on the level they take it. Ive beat an old gen m3 and a new gen m3, but my buddy has his tuned stage 2 with exhaust he got me by a car and a half. im waiting for my rematch lol

I new at that point, I had potential. ( I was hooked) so i went all in. the only other 2 times that I noticed a significant difference, is with my water meth and k04, the rest is minimum noticeable. but with s3 injectors, and intake, you will feel more torque. So defitnetly stage 1 tune first. Ive had apr and revo, They are both similar.
