You remind me so much of my Father. Not in looks,age, etc but , like you, he took things & remade & made do. He was also a Mississippi born & raised man from Covington Co to Yazoo Co & finally Sharkey Co. He worked for Delta Imp for many years & then had his own Farm Repair business till he retired. He would loved your tractor & way of life, as do I. I live in AR now but Mississippi will always be home. Until covid, I went home almost every weekend. I’m so glad I found your channel. It helps . Thanks Danny and ms Wanda for your videos. I just traded for a cub, it was in pieces. The tractor was taken apart by an old man who got sick then died. His nephew then moved the tractor to his barn. Then a friend of mine got the tractor and moved it to his barn. 3 weeks ago the tractor arrived at my barn. It has the cultivators, planter and fertilizer hoppers with the drive units and a sickle mower. The lower portion of the planter is missing a lot of pieces. Thanks again your videos have been a lot of help.

We've got that same attachment here. It's makes a world of difference for us. Both of us have bad backs and torn shoulders. Great find!
You have inspired me to possibly refurbish the old 40s model Cub I used on my grandparents farm. We had all those attachments you are showing if I can just locate them. As a kid my grandpa had me plowing soybeans all day, day after day when the Cub wasn't in the gardens or mowing. Thanks for the inspiration.

You have a spectacular place there! Loved watching you doing the sickle mowing. I want to get one for my 1948 Farmall Cub for the same reason. I’m enjoying this channel as I want to restore the Cub. It’s my grandad’s original tractor he bought new in 1948. Your videos are a blessing.
So interesting..husband farmed with huge tractors but I grew up with a horse pulled plow. Still appreciate the old ways.

That cub is like Aladdin cave, open sesame and look at what Danny has found, excellent job Danny.
I have a special place in my heart for the Farmall Cub. The first tractor I ever drove or used was my Grandpa's 1955 Cub. When I'm done with my fertilizer hopper, I clean and wash it out. When it dries off I set in in a tub od burnt motor oil until about a month before I will use it again. I take it out and turn it over so the fertilizer will drain off.
Very nice Danny!! In the sixties, my dad had the planter for his cub, the seed hopper was navy blue and said McCormick, the fertizer hopper, as you mention was all galvanized, all the castings and running gear was that same navy blue
There was also a row closing wheel behind the fert/seed trencher..... It was a HEAVY set up.
I painted this one the gray because I just didn't care for the blue color.

Buying attachments can easily become an obsession 😂. You’ll have to see if there are any swap meets in your area. We’ve found a few items at them.
We don't have anything like that around here.

Someone was pretty smart and knew what they were doing when they designed that beautiful tractor. So glad you found the old, new parts shop!! You fixed up that fertilizer bucket pretty 🤍🤍 glad to know you aren't hurting your back and neck anymore. Manual spreading hurts!!! Loved watching as always. Hello again Danny. I don’t know if you will be able to see this comment as the video is not current. On with my story, I very recently purchased a Cub with a side dresser. Someone had stolen the man’s cultivators as he had them on a pallet behind his shop! The side dresser was indoors however. The majority is as NOS, I just did not know how to install it. I am 95% that I have everything now. The hopper (with lid) is as new as well as the mount. I got a bunch of different sprockets in the tub of “stuff”. The man did not realize the cultivators were not there until the deal was nearly complete. He discounted the tractor so much I could not pass it up. I have a bunch of Cubs (mainly early) but no side dresser or planter! Thank you for providing useful information. I’m somewhat older than you, but I refuse to be a couch potato! I just finished a 1,600 mile rd trip to pick up a 25 hp TLB package out of western TN. Pretty country. I’m the guy the gave Joey the Super A’s. Heck of a nice man, and his family. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge. Stan here.

To do all that in garden now. I’ll be lucky if I’ll be able to keep my garden going. 6 weeks ago I had surgery on my hand . Can’t do a thing now. Good luck on your garden next yrs.
You should see if there’s a young could you could mentor. Many want to learn but don’t have property. You could teach them and share the produce. It may end up being a blessing to you both.👩🌾💙🙏
A friend of mine gave me a planter and fertilizer distributor for my 1966 cub I've heard that the complete setup is 800 to 1000 dollars keep up the good work
I knew they were expensive but dang ,,,,,,, $800 to $1,000 ? I seen the planter were pricey too,,,,,

I like watching the videos about the cub because I farm with the older equipment myself. Currently my main tractor is an old 8n and finding equipment from Ford that's the same age or time frame is hard to do, so I love to see when someone has success in finding the old stuff and restoring it.
I really enjoy watching all your videos, porch time No. one then watching anything with your Farmall tractor, was always my favorite tractor on our farm,

i spent $4000 getting a wreck of a cub that belonged to my uncle in mississippi restored. it was a wreck, should have been scrapped, but it was "family". so i cringed and went for it. the guy doing the work spent two years, every time he turned over a rock he found more trouble. later he told me it was the most difficult one he ever restored. i forged on. after delivery i still did some follow up work, carb, regulator, still doing the fine detail work. it was worth every penny, i only found one as nice and it is in a museum. it starts up with just a touch and sounds like a little sewing machine running. i have a picture of my uncle riding around on it in his yard in the 1950's. it stays in the poe barn on concrete floor. it's huge demanding farm job is me riding it out to the mail box. still is almost entirely original. still 6 volts and generator. people run these little gems into the ground until they die a sad death then park them and let nature rust them back into the soil. it is just sad. THIS GUY at first i thought was just another "hill billy" abusing a little cub, i was wrong. he has dug into this at great depth and treats the little cub like it is a real treasure. he has a video on the most extensive piece on wiring i have seen yet. not exactly original style but neat and functional. i am still pondering mine, there are some issues with the L charge and other of the 4 positions that are a little vague, what farmall engineering intended to accomplish there. it sounds real simple....until you dig into it deeply. when you get a little cub all restored and everything working right it is a real joy and worth every penny and all the time spent. they are an amazing piece of equipment from.....ummmm....how long ago ??? 70 YEARS AGO.....think about that for a while......
I have since purchased new tires and like new equipment that I'm restoring. They're worth every penny.
@@DeepSouthHomestead yeah, i put new tires on all the way around, they were needed. i am now having a super M reworked....it really needs rear tires....once installed those tires will out live me

This is a great video and thanks for sharing. My dad passed away in Oct of last year and he was a collector of any kind of Tractors. My son has his super A running good and has the cultivators mounted and layoff plows. We also have two cubs of his and one my son has running and I want to find a fertilizer attachment and planter for the cub. I grew up around this equipment and I remember so many neighbors had cubs or As and a lot of Super M and Super C farmalls. Thanks again for sharing. .

Hi i love your videos and listening to you talk about something that you are very passionate about . I like to see you working with your Farmall Cub as these old tractors are very few in the UK , i love to look around tractors at vintage shows and think how clever the old folks were 60/70 years ago when they had a problem or a job to do how they designed a tool to do the job and make life easier for them selves best wishes from N Ireland .

Great job rebuilding the fertilizer system on the cub. It will help anyone trying to repair a cub they might have purchased. Is the clutch engaged with two discs or is it some kind of gear system?

I was wondering in an earlier video, what that knob looking thing was, on the inside of the rear wheel. Now I see that it was actually a drive sprocket.

Hell Danny I don't even own a tractor or a farm. I just like learning about how things work. I wouldn't mind watching the restoration that you do to the equipment before you put it on. But I know you can record everything or you would never get anything done.
I had seen JTWES say he had to grind it off to make it work. I can say I didn't grind those ears off my base and my new fiberglass hopper unit fits and j bolt hooks tight.
I've had several people say they didn't fit right. I've not tried one to see.

Thanks Danny for sharing. I have purchased a couple Cubs this year and I’m learning. Somewhat older than you and appreciate the labor saving of the ultimate garden tractor. I have acquired lots of “stuff “. Much of it I don’t know what it is even! Is much of the planter/fertilizer equipment from the Super A - or 100 series transferable?
The cub needs a 172 planter for underneath mounting. They make one for going behind it. I couldn't find one of them.
I bet that fertilizer setup was expensive !! 😳

How do you know how deep and how much fertilizer to use?
Most vegetables around 4 inches deep for the fertilizer. Amount depends on what your planting.

that fertilizer attachment and if you can piece together and find the planter one too make's that tractor

They do but people say they aren't as good.
