Have a serger? Make FAST and BEAUTIFUL ruffles. Settings: Stitch length 4, Differential feed 2.5, Left & Right needles 7, Upper & Lower loopers 3. Thank me later! 😊 If you only have a sewing machine: Check shank type of yours and get a ruffler foot! It makes ruffles OR pleats, and you can even attach the ruffle or pleat you are creating to bodice, armhole, or neckline! shank size important though b/c NOT interchangeable without adapter. Ask your sewing supplier for assistance with size by giving your machine brand and model # and they can suggest correct ruffler to fit your particular machine.Hope this helps someone who hates old fashion, tedious making of ruffles with a zigzag foot!

What is a high shirring ratio?

It just means alot of gathers. A high shirring/gathering ratio might be 2:1 meaning if a waistband is 30" in length then a gathered skirt would be cut 60".
