The video about the FINALS is up now! czcams.com/video/8_Hm9jrC1BQ/video.html
Love this video karen
I have zero interest in puzzles myself, but holy crap these videos are addictive. The culture, the competition and the strategy is amazing.
ikr
you might be the last person i expected to see in the comments on this video lol
Just got this recommended. Same. Absolutely 0 interests in doing it myself, but I have been watching this for the last 40min without realizing. 😂
Yep, I have no rational idea whu I am still watching but I cannot stop 🤣
Yes, this is the Olympics of puzzling!!😂😂😂😂Everyone must have fun!!😁😁I hope everyone there had a great time.
I appreciate all the shout outs to some competitors like the woman who did the puzzles all while holding her baby (which is impressive), the old and young, fashionable, and everything. Just so cool
Hey Karen, you're basically the reason why I even know things like the WJPC even exist in the first place. Can't even believe I actually casually watch puzzle content for fun, never would have believed it even a year ago. You make it sound interesting, you have a knack for doing CZcams puzzle content haha
Personally she is the reason I know about them and think they are great thank you Karen
Today had been the first time I gave discovered speed puzzling! I randomly got recommended the previous video to this I'm so down the rabbit hole now 😅 can't believe I have to wait a week for the finals now!!
Exactly the same for me
Same here.
Also same for me ❤
I am a 40 something male who maybe did 2-3 puzzle in his adult life. The fact that I just watched a 1h25 minutes (basically a movie) video about puzzleling is a testament to the quality of the contents you put out Karen. Good job! and CIRCLE!
I am also someone who has completed less than 5 puzzles in his life. I simply happenstanced on this video and was also entirely engrossed by it. Truly amazing content!
It's so easy to get sucked in on some esoteric stuff on CZcams. One day it's puzzles, the next day it's rock skipping.
Same here bro i havent touched a jigsaw since i was a kid. Im also a first time watcher, now im hooked. Great video
Same about me: the subject only matters so far, how you narrate it is paramount!
Are you me?
Huge shout out to Valentina for taking such WONDERFUL footage. Especially when you Karen were not competing or not at the Dome!!
Thanks!
@@valentinaveeyou are awesome!!
I’m a special education teacher and years ago I had a student who was a puzzle savant. He had Cornelia Delange syndrome which is a genetic disorder with severe physical and intellectual problems. However, he could put a jigsaw together in a miraculous way. He would open the box and reach in a pull out a piece and lay it on the table, picture side down. He then would rifle through the pieces in the box and pull out a second piece and snap it into the first piece. He never dumped the box out, he just pulled one piece out at a time with each piece attaching to what he already had on the table. He could finish a 2000 piece puzzle this way. It was astounding to watch because the picture side was down. It was all done with the shape. I would have loved to see him enter a puzzle competition.
😮😮😮😮😮
That's incredible I hope if he's still alive that he finds out about these!!
I have suggested that the speed puzzle should be olympic sport, it would work as paralympic and special olympics too it seems
Whoa! That’s amazing!
❤@@worldsfunniestvideosandbes3684
Honestly, completing that puzzle under an hour is still insanely impressive because that puzzle looks incomprehensibly hard 😭 You and EB did fantastic!! 👏👏
It's also incredibly pretty.
I noticed that the trauma of getting the shrinkwrap off the box quickly has been eliminated. Good thinking! With puzzling times so close, I think it's wrong to deduct time because you're having a hard time piercing the shrink wrap. 😍
They kept it on for the Teams rounds, but luckily I didn't have to handle it that time 😅
No one need fear shrinkwrap with Michaela on the team. She brings the gusto.
It does seem like "box opening" as part of the competition is kind of absurd. Maybe we should add "putting on your shoes" as the first step after the gun goes off for running events?
I loved Katie's team name: "Improbable, but not impossible!" Haha I bet they had a lot of fun just participating without the same pressure you had
That gets my ‘best name for a puzzle team’ award. And there was a lot of really amazing and witty names for teams
The section at 58:21 where you discuss teams purposefully choosing harder puzzles for extra practice or to get a better table for the next round blew my mind!
This so well edited, presented and fun to watch - Ravensburger really made the right call in sponsoring you there!
As someone who marks his puzzle completion times on a calendar rather than a stopwatch this was very interesting. Congrats to all winners and kudos to all participants.
LOL 😄
Can I tell you, I appreciate SO much not only you listening to comments on several sides of the argument for country priorities, but your analysis of your OWN thoughts. Listening, growth, and respectful conversation - even if you don't change your mind one bit - is one of the best indicators of sportsmanship I can think of. Well done in and out of the competition.
My tip for circle puzzles: Start with the corners.
LMFAO circles don't even have edges! 😂😂😂
@@jewelxiat thank you captain obvious lol
@@Daeneiracorn no problem youtube account Daeneiracorn 👍
Professional puzzelers started from inside. Maybe they know better than you.
@@lajos3980bro its obviously a joke since a circle doesnt have corners .....
i find it so interesting that on the first groups puzzle you were like "communication is key" and on the second one you went "actually, lemme do my own thing." anyways. great video, great competition. can't wait for next weeks'
Haha two different styles of puzzles!
Having decoupled areas to work on makes such a difference....not just in puzzling but in lots of areas of work, I spend a lot of time at work trying to find or make clean boundaries so multiple people can split things without having to be sitting in each other's laps.
The amount of sky was perfect here, too, just about the maximum for Karen to work on and still finish around the same time as the rest of the puzzle. For the Paris puzzle, even if the sky had a better gradient to help there's too much of it, one person wouldn't finish before the rest of the puzzle was done, and there's no way to split out a smaller part. (Of course this is a lot more obvious in hindsight.)
It’s both! Communication is key, but so is delegating a role and reducing double handling :)
She communicated that she could take on the sky so the others could focus on different areas, and I’m sure the other three still communicated with each other about the sections they were working on
When you started the sky section i pictured you like ‚Giorgio A. Tsoukalos‘ … just saying ‚Gradients‘ instead of ‚Aliens‘
I have no idea why the Google Algorithm threw your first video about the puzzle championship in my list... but... I am really happy.
Although I am not into puzzling at all its just really really nice to see so many people doing a competition while being so friendly and respectful to each other.
And your attitude while presenting this is so full of positive vibes and being just full of joy.
I wished all competitions in sports and elsewhere could be experienced with your kind of attitude.
And its really astonishing how fast you all can do this.
Thanks for your videos ... and... for being you 🙂
I got it too!! I can't believe I have to wait a week for the finals now 😅 this is edge of your seat entertainment
Karen's videos are addictive. I wasn't into puzzle either 2 years ago and now I've watched every puzzle video she has in her channel. She is amazing ❤
The editing, the camera work, the narration, the statistics, the TIMER- your videos are a masterpiece!
A few notes: If you heard me mention Puzzle Camp and want to know more, there is a whole video about it for free on my Patreon (you don't have to sign up to watch). patreon.com/karenpuzzles
If you noticed the timer was off during certain finishes…no you didn’t. It was driving me crazy during the edit. For the footage that Valentina shot, I tried to line up the timer to the recorded finish time as best I could. But for the livestream footage, I left it as is and there are a few points where it’s off by a few seconds. I think we just have to trust that the times were recorded correctly in the moment and that the livestream may have gotten a little wonky at times when you’re looking at it down to the second.
Anyway, if you missed the first video and want all of the context for who these puzzlers are, you can watch it here: czcams.com/video/0KRToCPAACI/video.html

I'm so impressed by how well The Misfits worked together. Your communication game was on point! Great work! Also, major props to Valentina for the awesome footage and Karen for the fun and interesting edit.
HUGE props to Ms. Soriano holding her baby throughout the contest. That's not an easy task. It was also really cool to see Ms. Belle out there competing at such a young age. I think that minors should be allowed to compete in singles competition, as long as they're accompanied by a parent or guardian.
A lot of local competitions have a Youth division for kids where they can do all three events, but that hasn't made its way to Worlds yet.
I gotta' give a shout out to the baby. Did not touch a piece (that we saw). No crying (that we saw). No diaper change (that we saw). And if all/any of those things did happen, it was a frikken' miracle that it happened at all !!!!!
@@KarenPuzzles Hello Karen What are your other hobbies than doing puuzzles all the time?
@@gregtowle8830i think she mentioned fashion in one video, the one where she mixed three gradient puzzles 😅
Alejandro and Gisela were having a very interesting strategy. Alejandro filled in most of the puzzle, when Gisela did a very detailed sorting. They basically didn't talk (that's what I saw on teams too).
Sarah and Alejandro neck on neck in the individual semifinal was sooo interesting to watch (I rooted for Sarah tough, because she was a little ahead most of this puzzle) and your comment was honest, detailed and so motivating for the others. I liked it a lot. We guessed times in the chat and it was great to watch how we all guessed different times and were happy, when someone finished.
Shoutout to your whole team: I loved to watch you work as a team together.
It's a little more fun watching the videos, when you hoped on the livestream whenever you had some time :D I didn't watch all the livestreams but it was so wholesome! Really recommend it.
Tiffany and the spinning of the puzzle was easily the most stressful part of any of the livestreams. My heart jumped out of my chest 😅
For real though
Oh 100%, and they cut away just as it was about to fall! The suspense!
no way we're blessed with such a long video😭 thank you karen, this is exactly what I needed today🤗
There was a lot to get through!
@@KarenPuzzlesI know, I'm only 26 minutes in but it doesn't feel stretched or filled with unnecessary information. It was a long week and luckily you have lots of video material to share. It's nice too get a glimpse of the competition and to see what puzzles were chosen. You did a great job Karen!
We watched hours and hours anddd hours of puzzling on the world’s competition, is very funny to me Karen though 1:25 would be too much… haha not.
What an amazing video! All your hard editing work was worth it!
It's wild to me how this channel made me a puzzle enthusiast. Two years ago I had 3 puzzles. Now I have an entire shelf of puzzles, I have puzzles hanging on the wall, buying a local puzzle is my go to travel souvenir (if I have bag space), I am watching the puzzle world championship live, and now I am watching a recap of the same championship I watched a few weeks ago BUT AT A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ANGLE AND DIFFERENT COMMENTARIES.
Same! Karen is a huge enabler 😅
13:24 hardest puzzle in the entire world. Love that foreshadowing.
If you know you know. And if you don’t know just wait for the next video.
I'm dreading even editing that part and having to look at it again 😭
Circle! I think one of the top things I noticed while being there was how lovely all the people were. It was an incredibly kind and hospitable atmosphere - everyone was in it for the love of puzzles. Great job on this edit - the recap kept me riveted throughout! And your data - wow! That’s a lot of work.
Wow I can't believe how many teams chose that Paris puzzle. I am FAR from a hardcore puzzler, I've only ever done a few in my whole life, but I took one look at that puzzle, saw the solid colors, and thought "wow, no way!" I think your team ABSOLUTELY chose the correct puzzles. Congrats on that #1 win!
The algorithm brought me to this channel yesterday, I think I have watched/listened to 8 hours of content at this point. Something wholesome in the toxic cesspool that is CZcams
I love watching these competition videos and recognizing people like they're mainstream professional athletes lol. I can't name anybody on my city's football team but I know world championship puzzlers
No false fits, Go Misfits!!🥳
I watched a lot of the live streams and knew the outcomes, but am still really invested in this video! You are an amazing storyteller!
The fact that Gisela and Alejandro got the most difficult puzzle in the pairs semifinal but got third place overall as shown at 23:22 blew my mind! They're superheroes 🤩
Fernando's fit was really just perfection ❤ I loved how excited he was throughout the competition. Your coverage of the event is really top notch Karen🎉 I love hearing your thoughts that we couldn't hear on the live stream
seeing the kids competing or being held while their parents compete makes me so happy it must be such a fun environment there i hope i get to go one day
Love Kristin and her mom! So sweet Alejandro came to wish you and EB luck!
Way out of left field, but in the international Rugby world, the most valuable thing for teams from "smaller countries" about the Rugby World Cup is the opportunity to actually play against the best teams; in my (South African) opinion, this situation is similar. If the goal with the tournament is to sort the competitors by speed, then yes, the country rule isn't optimal. That isn't the goal, though. A better attempt might be to say that the goal is to identify the top quarter of that sorted list (so that the final has a good chance at accurately identifying the fastest players). Once that goal is achieved (up to some level of accuracy), the rules can serve secondary goals. Giving the best players from the smaller countries a chance at high-level competition is a pretty serviceable secondary goal, I'd say (compared to "sort the slower three quarters of the field accurately").
Can we all appreciate all the infographics in this video? They all look so aesthetically pleasing and very easy to comprehend
Yes!! I was looking forward to this update!!! I’m so excited to get settled in to watch a whole HOUR of puzzling!!! 😄😄😄😄
I like that you omitted the kids’ surnames. But they will be famous in the individual competition in five/eight years. So talented.
I checked with all of their parents too to make sure they were ok having them in the video.
@@KarenPuzzles Great. I’m a teacher and it’s just essential to be really careful these days. But I’m sure Alma was delighted to be included. I’ve spent a lot of time in Gibraltar, though I haven’t been there since the pandemic, and I’m sure she’s a local celebrity now.
She and her mum, more than anyone else there, will also have been most at home in the Spanish/English bilingual environment. Indeed, I bet Gibraltar was the place where the two livestreams were most equally played.
@@KarenPuzzles Alma's name is visible at 55:46
@@alliberry Only her given name(s). From the commentary on the live streams I thought her name was Alma Bell but it turned out to actually be Alma Belle X when they showed it on screen later. So I’ve referred to her as Alma for simplicity but I think her full first name is actually a double-barrelled Alma Belle. She’s certainly referred to by that a lot.
I’m a Norwegian grandma who hardly knew about puzzle competitions. Now I have seen 2 videos in a go and can’t wait for the next one. I’m so proud of Kristin, Siv and the other Norwegians. Norway is such a tiny country and their so good. 🇳🇴.
Your team is so good as well, I can’t comprehend how you can puzzle so fast.
I love that you mentioned some people that we othervise wouldn't have noticed. Like the women with the baby 😊
It was a wonderful competition and I'm sure you've expanded your circle of puzzling friends.
I've been waiting anxiously for this video, and it did not disappoint! It's clear that you put so much work into these recap videos, Karen. Your hard work is greatly appreciated!
I so relate to you being tired, not feeling well. Traveling takes so much mental and physical energy! The jetlag, sleep and eating rutine being off, all the "sensory overload" of being in a new country, where everything is different. And all the energy from socializing with more people than usual. No wonder you would get some fatigue, even without a difficult competition! So well done for making it!
Also these videos are so well done and professional looking, I can't believe you edit them yourself so fast! I would've thought it was a whole team of editors!
Since you're making the gymnastics comparison, I have to say the jigsaw puzzling rules are much more reasonable than the gymnastics rules. For the last Olympics, for example, if Simone Biles hadn't dropped out due to twisties, Mykayla Skinner would not have been able to compete for the vault final even though she'd ranked 4th in the qualifying round and later ended up taking home the silver medal. It sounds like your puzzling competition rules are the perfect midway point, allowing ALL the competent people to move on to the finals while giving the less represented countries a chance at representation. It's not like gymnastics where even 3rd place may not be good enough if the top 2 happen to be from your own country. Let's be honest, the winners of these puzzling competitions are all going to be from the top 20 of their respective qualifying rounds anyway. Those who got to the next stage based on country representation alone are not going to win anything regardless, so there's literally no point in barring them from competing. But allowing them to compete does help make the sport a more worthwhile endeavor for them and their country, which will help even out the playing field in the future.
Jordyn Wieber in 2012 be like
@@KevinOnEarth_ No one's getting a participation trophy or anything out of it at all. They're just being included more, which is something that will help even out the playing field by incentivizing people from their country to participate more. And yes, there are better puzzlers around, but if you take both forms of qualification into consideration, roughly the top 50ish people from each qualifier makes it to the next round. If you were not good enough to place in the top 50 or so of your qualifying round, you're also not going to make it on the podium in the next round. And from a logistics perspective at least, if your country is this well-represented, there's no benefit in incentivizing participation even more because it will end in a huge overrepresentation which is discouraging to people from other countries.
Thank you for these awesome behind the scenes videos! I appreciate that you include how you were feeling throughout the event. 😃
Anne's dad is Ken Watanabe, an academy nominated actor! And, she has 1.19 million subs here on YT! Thanks for a shoutout to her, Karen! I can't wait until I do my first circle puzzle!

"Let them fight!"
I had so much fun watching the live stream this year. You rocked it! I'm so happy you have shared your journey with all of us!
Hi Karen! I think it was during the teams challenges (but could have been pairs) there was one team that didn't put their puzzle in the box. Instead they took another piece of cardboard and placed it on top of the completed puzzle. A very fast method! The announcers were debating weather or not it was a legal move. Do you have any insight on this?
Great job editing these videos, I know it must take so much time! Plus all the planning before and after you have the footage. It's also amusing watching Valentina circle around all the contenstance getting the best shots. Great job to you and your team!
When I watched the competition they mentioned it in commentary if the finals. I could be remembering this completely wrong, so it could be good to get fact checked by someone. Apparently it was never explicitly said in the rules that a team could not cover the puzzle even though it did state that the puzzle did have to be put away. They ended up giving the team a small time penalty which didn't end up changing that team still qualifying for the final. They then added a rule for the finals (and future competitions) that if a team did something like that again they would be disqualified. The team that covered the puzzle was informed of the added rule and did not do the same thing during the final.
They asked Karen and Sarah during the livestream after they were done, I believe Karen said she was unsure if it was allowed but Sarah acted very catty and said they should be disqualified
I have no idea how your page came to my home screen yesterday, but I am so happy it did! Your videos are a joy to watch, thank you!!
Fantastic teams time! Also Alma & Gabi were crowd faves as well in the livestream. Also congrats Katie, we were rooting for you too! ♡

Hi. Are you doing a video about the final? I'm absolutely dying to watch it 😮😮
These videos are so much fun to watch. I did catch most of the event live streams, so no surprises for me. But, hearing your perspective about each puzzle is great. I love the 'circle' puzzles.
You reignited my love of puzzles when I found you last year, and this series is outstanding. Your editing skills and the videographer skills is top knotch and made for exciting viewing. The stats are a bonus for this stat geek! ❤🇨🇦
This content is so comforting to me. I puzzle in my free time for fun but watching elite puzzlers like Karen makes me so happy ❤❤❤
Many great moments captured in one video! My favorite one: At approximately 57:25, when both Team "Non Stop" and "Las Chicas Checas" finished their first puzzle at the same time they acknowledged the other team's achievement and even exchanged little waves to each other. 🙂
Thank you for the coverage and your participation!! I got to know about this cool competition because I have been watching your videos.

…puzzle camp?! …world jigsaw puzzle championship?! I’m learning so much about the jigsaw puzzle world thanks to random CZcams recommendations.
Hahahaha idk if puzzle camp is a thing. She is actually talking about one of her friends birthday celebration. A group of puzzlers from different states rent a house and spent a few days celebrating her friend and practicing for World's. They called it puzzle camp.
@@mirian03060 ok, lol, that makes more sense. It wouldn't surprise me if that existed for children, but that concept threw me for a loop - being for adults.
when will you post the finals?? I can't wait!
Pog - you knocked out that sky. "When I'm under so much stress...but with a gradient I can focus on the shape of the pieces and the slight color differences and I just become one with the puzzle". That's some words to live life by right there.
There is something so satisfying about watching a timelapse of a puzzle being finished.
Hi Karen! Love the recap videos and over and hour! That's over an hour of Karen talking about puzzles!

I'm loving this video!! I really appreciate how much content you are giving us! Over an hour long video is awesome :) I was wondering if you know when the finals puzzles will be released to the public? I'd love to get my hands on the pairs final, such a fun puzzle!
Good question! I don't know yet, but I'll ask Ravensburger before I make the next video.
I've never competed, but I own several of those puzzles and I now feel the urge to compare my speed. I'm also a fan of large, subtle gradients, but what I like most of all is a puzzle that challenges me to develop a new strategy.
Great job showcasing this. This was great. I don't think I'll ever get to speed puzzling, but I have been enjoying doing puzzles with my wife since starting to follow this channel last year.
