I did it! I finished the first section of the 24,000 piece puzzle!
Let m know what you think and if you have any questions for the next video in this series. I know the focus got a little funky on some of the time lapses, so I'll definitely be fixing that for next time 🧩
@Harry Johnston-Smith Yayy!!
PLZ do the villains puzzle after this duh plz say yes.
Great work My dream puzzle is the 18000 starwars puzzle
Have U seen starwars 18000 puzzle
I get hyped watching game of thrones, but I swear I get more hyped watching you work on this puzzle. I'm like "yes karen! You put that edge together! You get those hot air balloons!"
When you found that missing edge piece, my mind was calmed.
Oh but just wait until you find out about the extra piece I discover later on 👀
@@KarenPuzzles Oh no I was just scrolling through the comments then I see this 😭
I got anxiety reading this sentence even though you typed she found it. 😂
9:35
@@KarenPuzzles i can actually see an edge piece at 8:09 kinda near the middle right of the box
I was impressed with the blue tape, but when you mentioned taking the last column of the puzzle to have an edge for the next part... that's a freaking pro move I wouldn't have thought of with my fish brain.
Excellently FISHy comment.
I see what you did there. Very stealthy 🤣
I was thinking the SAME thing! Two great fish minds were thinking alike! 😄👍
i actually gasped at saving the row
A true big brain moment
Karen: "I've been taking notes, that's how you know I'm serious about puzzling"
Me: oh definitely, that's what gave it away
I am a 73-year-old retiree who loves to watch you put together your puzzles. And I have found some of your tips very useful. I also have a tip to share: when I have pieces that don’t hold together to move sections around I use a metal pancake turner to scoop up a section and move it. That seems to work well for me. FISH!
That is brilliant!!
Pancake turner..? You mean a spatula..?
as I watched this and she mentioned how difficult it was to move large sections I to was thinking the 'egg/pancake flipper'..it's surprising that she hadn't thought about it herself, considering how many jigsaws she's done..
Smart and creative! Good thinking 🤔
Thats such a good idea!
The scale of it really didn't hit me until you started putting those _fish_ together, they were way bigger than I was imagining!
Who else is obsessing over that random mystery piece??? 😂😂😂
I was thinking it's probably more likely to be a repeated piece from this first part than a random piece from one of the other 3
That occurred to me, but I think she would have noticed if it was a repeat.
Could it have been a piece that was accidentally stuck to one of the lids from another puzzle box that she was using to sort?
We need to be updated, like "section 2 and I still have not found the place for the piece."
Me🤣
"puzzle dust" makes the whole process sounds so much more magical 😂 like pixie dust
IKR!!!! i was literally thinking the same thing
Man, I really admire the dedication! Not only to do a 24000 piece puzzle, but THEN make a video of the process with everything from analysis, time lapse, close up shots of pieces going in, panning shots. Like not only is the puzzling crazy but the video is so well done!
We all need somebody in our lives that talks about us the way Karen talks about this puzzle.
We do.👍
Karen, take a quick, quiet moment for yourself. How cool is it that this is your job now? So cool.
Imagine my husband’s face when I told him I was going to bed early to watch a 40 minute video of puzzle progress😂 this was great. I love all of the macro shots of you putting individual pieces in. Those fish were tricky and I was hoping you would rainbow them☺️. I puzzled this week and my cat ate one of the puzzle pieces, so I am emotionally healing from that with this. Can’t wait for the next installment 🖤🖤🖤
Now that's what we call a puzzycat
me the same lol
did you get the missing piece back when the cat pooped? :)
So with all of the taped-together sections of puzzle, you'll actually end up with a 48 piece puzzle at the very end!
That would be the perfect puzzle for me. 48 pieces is enough 😃
@@marcop4107how about a 50 piece puzzle?
I’ve never been a puzzle person, I thought it would be boring, seeing your first video of the 24,000 piece puzzle that popped up in my feed, seeing how excited you were it got so interested in doing a puzzle, I went out and got my first one, and I love it!!! Thank you for opening my eyes to puzzles!!
I’m happy the puzzle community has made a new friend. I hope you enjoy lots more puzzles in the future.
What is your first puzzle going to be?
I just got it in the mail about 2 days ago, and got a puzzle mat just in case I can’t do it in one sitting(I have kitties that would love to help me for sure). I’m sure I’m being over confident, but it’s a 1000 piece Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. So wish me luck!!:)
@@kathrynmoore4071 good luck! And in case it doesn’t work out with the one you got I very much recommend something super colorful with clearly separated sections. Karen has a few good ones on her channel. It’s a good first step when you’re just getting used to doing puzzles
Thank you, the lady I got it from said not to get overwhelmed and give up starting out with that puzzle. And, she said if I get frustrated, put it away and start with a smaller and easier one.:)
I really appreciate Karen's editing skills, making 40+ hours of footage enjoyable 😊 also who else remembers all her tape diys? 😅
Yes!! I bought so much washi tape!
Same! The time and effort she puts into everything is so admirable!
Watching you is dangerous. When I started watching I was like “hey I have a 2000 piece puzzle that I’ve had laying around for two years, maybe I can finish it”. And let me tell you what. The puzzle is a picture of a busyNew York Times Square at night. I started with the edges and tried to continue on through the middle part and holy crap it’s very difficult. Kudos to you for your patience and persistence
Some brands are really bad and just not fun!!! Definitely dont be afraid to scrap it and try a new puzzle that is guaranteed to be nice
(my fav are the jumbo brand puzzles especially the xl ones cus thiccy queens that lock together 🙌
and definitely dont recommend ravensburger or clementoni unless you really really like the image. Heye is fine but somehow they seem to tend to come with a piece missing a lot of the time. 😒)
You can find a ton of reviews online! And a bunch of people have their list of comparisons and faves
Yeah, I have a 2000 piece puzzle that's going to be a nightmare. I think because I've had it for 10 years, I feel very determined to do it at some point, but once it's done, it's going to be donated.
@@damalewis9277 omg pls film and post for our catharsis
@@ThirrinDiamond Lol!
I have a beautiful scene of the Brooklyn Bridge against the New York City Skyline at night from Eurographics, it is 1000 pieces, I was so excited when I bought it. The edging & the first 2/3 of the puzzle were difficult but doable and still fun. then the last 3rd was just the sky at night with varying shades of black & grey & on top of that all the pieces are identical, I lost total interest after a while because it was taking so long to fit a single piece. My Husband & I started it July 14, 2020, as a date night for our wedding anniversary during quarantine & it remains unfinished to this date (May 31, 2021) with about 10% left & no real desire to finish. What is worse is that I bought two other almost identical puzzles from Eurographics of Chicago & Seattle skylines AT NIGHT and I now totally regret it. Maybe someday New York will be complete but I doubt the other two will even make it out of the box.
This is both a "NEVER NEVER NEVER" and a "I want a full day of just puzzling."
I love this channel for the pure stress reduction it gives to me. Thank you so so so so much! :D
Wait wait wait...it's a puzzle, of a puzzle?
THAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SOLVE THAT!
My thought was the sandwich idea, and then stacked into a spare bedroom closet until it's done.
Um...I had FIsh for dinner this evening.
I have been an avid puzzler since I was 14. I'm now 71. I have learned a few new tricks from you!! I usually do 1,000 piece puzzles as 500 piece puzzles can be finished in a day.
seeing the tape sections being lifted and placed so neatly into the box tickled my brain
so satisfying
i love it when she poses on top of the puzzles like a puzzle model or something, it's so cool
So glad I found "Karen Puzzles", I thought I was the only one obsessed with puzzles (about to start my 25th puzzle since Covid hit!). Great to see there is such a strong community out there. Karen I'm so impressed with how you present yourself and your passion, it really shines through in your videos. I can't wait to watch the next 3 episodes of the '24,000 piece puzzle'. Now, onto my first ever 3,000 piece one (I know I know, I've got a long way to go to catch up to Karen :-).........). From an Aussie admirer.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
Karen: CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
Totally not me being dumb watching you make the edges and thinking "how did she miss an ENTIRE side??"
hahaha
I did too at first, but then I remembered what puzzle she was doing
Karen: “I have finished putting together the edge pieces”
My dumb brain: “What do you mean? There’s a whole edge missing!!”
just saw that part, and i guess that shows how big this puzzle really is. i'm terrified.
I felt the same. I then thought she had put the missing edge aside so she can bend over the table and not screw it up. Admitedly, not a very smart thought, but I don't know puzzles this large and it was the best I could think of without assuming that she needs new glasses. :p
Karen: This is my project for the year
Also Karen: finishes the first quarter in 10 days
Wonder how quick it would have been if the fish weren't as tricky.
Not sure how I ended up here. Well played, CZcams! I truly enjoyed that blue tape tip at the end! I've always wanted to do large puzzles, but never really knew how to store them, nor do I have the space for it. This was so useful! Thank you :)
the storing method is sooo satisfying. this must have been a lot of work, but so much fun to watch
This is Karen’s magnum opus. Besides making her own puzzle, of course 💚
I think most puzzlers have probably obsessed about this puzzle at some point. I sure have
you're the reason i finally decided to get a puzzle again after many years! i forgot how much fun it is to do them. thank you 😍
Seeing you exude so much joy spending hours on hours assembling fish reminded me of my own enjoyment of puzzling. I've been away from it lately thanks to cats and parenting, but I'm finding ways to make it work now, and it's been as delightful as ever.
I have to admit, it was so satisfying at the beginning of the puzzle when you sorted all the colors of the FISH. The rainbow effect was beautiful! Can't wait to see the next section!
OMG, never thought about the idea of covering the back of a puzzle with tape to put it back in the box. I always break them up again completely after they are finished!
I know this project was a year ago, but somehow it just came across my youtube. My sweet mother was truly the puzzle lover in our family. As she aged she lost a lot of her sight to macular degeneration and could no longer work on puzzles. But she would continue to buy them so that when my husband and I and our twins would go to visit her (which was 5 out of 7 nights usually), we could have puzzles to put together. My son and I were the ones who enjoyed it the most. My mom passed away in August 2021, but I have all of the puzzles that she kept for us now. My kids are 20 years old and we still like to puzzle together and remember how much happiness it brought my mom to watch us. This project you took on was truly remarkable! I am enjoying the videos and you did an amazing job explaining everything. I've subscribed and look forward to keeping up with new puzzle adventures.
My cat would be in HEAVEN with all those pieces 😂
lol
holy shit. I wasn't expecting you to have a quarter of the entire thing finished after 1 update.
You work fast xD
"ok so this is a project I'll be working on throughout the year, I'll post updates"
a few weeks later...
"Guys it's a quarter done!"
@@JessBonomo omg ikr 😂 it’s literally been 4 months and I have yet to finish this 500 piece puzzle and she just over here doing a part of a puzzle 1,800 times bigger than mine but finishes in 10 days
Great job I'm going to subscribe
You identifying that rogue purple piece so early is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in one of your videos. Respect.
when you said “hi new subscribers” i went up to check the sub count and i swear the last time i checked it was 60k at most. congrats on almost 100k!
2 weeks later it’s 105K 😀
It surprised me how big everything was! The FISH were huge!
FISH. FISH. FISH
I'm soooo invested on this journey of yours. So, interesting and exciting.
Karen, I found you through your collab with the Try Guys and you deserve all your views and new subscribers! You are such a joy to watch and your videos have so much thought put into them. I hope you get more popularity so people can see how much joy puzzling brings you!
Hi Karen. I am one of the new subscribers you spoke of and you have inspired me to become a puzzler. I’m working on a 1000 piece puzzle but it’s taking me significantly longer than it would for you. I really love your videos. Thank you.
You are clearly a little crazy but your enthusiasm, excitement and obvious love of puzzles is just so uplifting.
Blue taping sections for storage - equals - Brilliant!!
The puzzle looks so beautiful! But I definitely thought it would take longer! And the FISH looked like they would be easier... Also I loved the tip of removing the line of pieces where it connects to the next section!
That is a brilliant storage solution. I'm surprised the fish was the hard part. Can't wait to see the next section!
can you imagine if karen live streamed one of the sections lol. it would take her 10x as long but it would be fun to hangout and do a Q&A type of thing
Karen the puzzle queen giving us much needed endorfins during this (hopefully not forever) lasting pandemic and lockdown. We love it!
Just watching you work makes me feel overwhelmed. You know how to break down everything. You know your process. Awesome. Thank you for your gift.
The table mat sized sheets you made are deeply satisfying to me
the tape trick is brilliant! also i didnt realize how satisfying this would be to watch. Take your time. Breaks are always better than burn out.
This puzzle is overwhelming to look at but when you zoom in, the detail of color differentiation in the individual pieces was very pleasant
I’ve never been so happy to find a channel. I feel so seen lol I didn’t realize there were puzzle community on CZcams! Love this, it’s like a puzzle lovers dream
Fish!
Soooo cool. You are motivating me to work thru the dozens of (much smaller) puzzles that were just donated to our game library. 😃
To be honest I don’t like watching videos that over 20mins, but I watched this video because, 1. Love puzzles, 2. Like Karen a lot! Her energy attitude is so sweet! And ofcourse 3 to support her channel 😍
Also the blue tape thing was GENIUS! It was so satisfying to see whole parts picked up and put back in the box!!
First off I love the way you say fish 🐠 for no apparent reason- second I DREAM to be like you and do all of these puzzles like you. Thank you so much for showing off your amazing puzzle skills and I can’t wait to see more!!
I am blown away by the amount of thought she put into this puzzle. From organizing all the pieces, to taping everything and saving that edge. I never even considered any of that!
I use a large metal spatula for moving chunks of pieces. Metal spatulas are thinner and slide under puzzle pieces easier.
Ooooo i should get one of those pizza/bread ones 👀👀
I use a plastic spatula I bought from dollar tree. It tapers and slides under the puzzle fairly well I have to help it a little bit
This came out at the perfect time! I just started my first 5000 piece puzzle. Can't wait to see who finishes first
Your enthusiasm for puzzles is contagious! Love your videos
I LOVE her idea of the blue tape at the end! Just BRILLIANT and MUCH better than using glue and the other things for sale. Bravo Karen!!!
Even though I'm 66 I just started puzzling a year ago, and so I really appreciate watching you puzzle, and picking up tips!
I just finished my 3rd puzzle as an adult last week . Started lat in life too. Began my fourth one last weekend.
When you were talking about burning your breakfast cause you were distracted by the puzzle I really felt that, I’d probably burn the house down on accident if I were trying to cook and think about that puzzle
Also props for not burning your house down while cooking and thinking about that puzzle, bravo! 🙌
I am so happy I found your channel! I feel like I am picking up so many tips to use on my smaller puzzles and it's encouraging for larger puzzles that I found intimidating. I've been taking each video in sections between homework as breaks.
It's amazing that you finished it so quickly. The part with the fish was so pretty and looked like fun!
Karen: "I didn't mean them to all be gradient puzzles"
Long-time Subscribers: Sure, we believe you
😂👌🏻
yoo this is the best editing yet
This puzzle storage method is life changing! Thank you for sharing! Nice work on section 1. Enjoy your break
Watching you be so passionate about puzzles actually made me take up puzzling! I finished my first 500 piece puzzle and had so much fun with it, can't wait to do more! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
You are such a strong person; and I admire how you get all this mess in order. It's nice to join you on this amazing journey, and be able to experience the hapinness that this project brings you.
Huge hug from Ecuador. :D
I literally watched this twice back to back. I love her. Been recommending her to all my friends. I love how she talks strategy with her puzzles, I have definitely used her sorting strategies on puzzles I've done. Love that she just films her time laps and just lets the music play in the background so satisfying. Especially when she zooms in and shows her just clicking pieces in one after another. I can't wait to see more.
Staying as calm as a fish doing a puzzle like this would be bliss. Thanks for another great video Karen!
That was amazing to watch. What an incredibly beautiful puzzle. The FISH are my favourite. Great job Karen. I can’t wait to see this all come together for you.
I love living vicariously through you. I really want to do the Ravensburger Memorable Disney Moments puzzle that's 40320 pieces, but I'm a student so I don't have the time, space, or money to do it at the moment. Watching you do this puzzle should hold me for a while.
The Disney puzzle is so pretty. But like you, I don’t have enough money or space.
thats my absolute dream puzzle, but i definitely don't have the time space or money either. i also have two crackhead cats and a son who is gonna start crawling soon so i can't do any puzzles really
Just cleared 40 minutes from my schedule. Been waiting days for this 😍
This was just amazing! Wouldn’t mind if this video lasted an hour longer. Watched it while doing my first ever 3000pc puzzle... you are my hero. Loved the fish!
The FISH area, and the panda are my FAVORITE!!!
Karen, that's so cool to watch such a long video of someone's puzzling progress. Thanks for sharing this journey!
I love how the fish look like they're cheering you on.
I recently watched a video of an opera singer reacting to a music video. Her excitement when describing the techniques and abilities of the group was infectious. She clearly was gifted with her music knowledge and she was able to describe the techniques in everyday words. She appreciated their skill, despite the style being nothing like her own. She praised and clapped and gasped. It was just a joy to be able to see someone be so excited for others. We need people like that in our corner
But. We should also think like that about ourselves, see our abilities and talents as valuable. Be excited enough that others catch the joy.
That’s why I love watching Karen. Her joy of the process and excitement of the progress. Her passion for a hobby that is little understood for the pleasure it brings.
Thank you Karen for yet another awesome video. Take care of yourself though, this is a marathon not a sprint.
We will be in the stadium enjoying your progress on screen until waiting for you to cross that finish line.
I love the idea of using the form boards, poster board and blue tape! Taking notes and FISH!!!
OMG I just watched CZcams for 40 minutes on one video AND I LOVED IT! Best thing I seen in a long time. GOOD CONTENT!
You're so close to 100k!! I'm loving this series, I've never done more than a 1000 piece puzzle but it's inspiring me to try something bigger.
Yay! I've been so excited for this!
Watching the closeups of you slotting puzzle pieces in, is filthy filthy adult entertainment for me.
I also love the joy you have. Thank you.
What a treasure you are to all that watch you. To take the time to show us how you so methodically separate, and then put together this masterpiece, was almost magical.
Three cheers!!
She’s nearly at 100k! Let’s help her to it!😃🙃🥳
This puzzle probably wouldn't even fit in my flat. I'd love to tackle a puzzle this size one day, it is always satisfying when you complete a puzzle. Loved the animals and brightly coloured fish on this puzzle.
I love doing puzzles and I'm SO glad that your videos popped up on my feed the other day, super excited to watch all your videos!!
You have done a wonderful job with the camera angles and the time lapse. I love your enthusiasm. Looking forward to watching the next sections.
The *fish*es part was the best!
I can’t believe how quickly you were able to put the fish section together; it looked so difficult! Also I’m so salty I’ve been mod-podging my puzzles and storing them fully put together under a bed when I could have been doing the blue tape technique all along!! Better late than never I guess!
Wow - that was amazing to watch! Your techniques for using blue tape to preserve sections and keeping the edge for the next bag were absolutely brilliant. What a gorgeous puzzle - my favorite part is the colorful fish!
Your excitement is so contagious!
And I learnt a lot in this video, tips and tricks to solve puzzles smarter 🥰 thank you!
First! And omg. I was literally just watching the video from last week. Ok, let's get calm and watch this video. EDIT:That was so beautiful!!! And I can't believe how huge its is. I was definitely ìmpressed with your upside down balloon work. Watching the pieces going in and going over them is so satisfying. Let's hope for a break from fish in the next part. Great job!
You got the first comment!
While I know that you’d never fish for a compliment, I must say that your dedication and optimism while puzzling have been an inspiration to my family. Your skill and charm have encouraged my kiddos to put down their game controllers frequently in favor of puzzling. Such a feat could only be achieved by the Queen of the Puzzle Realm. Thanks for bringing joy and wholesome fun to Puzzledom, Karen! 🧩💚🧩
*FISH*?
I'm hanging in there with what patience you have. Enjoying watching you do this. Three cheers to Karen. 👍👍👍
thank you for sharing your love for puzzles with us!
can't wait to see where that 'orphan' piece goes...if it even does
my OCD brain would be examining that picture with a magnifying glass, trying to match it to some area of the finished picture
fish!
Not Karen not being able to identify a flamingo AGAIN* 😭😂😭
*The first time was in the $2000 custom wood puzzle video
I’m not too into puzzles but I stumbled across your channel and it’s so wholesome and happy. I feel safe and cozy here. I really like seeing unique puzzles here that I haven’t seen anywhere else! Keep up the content, you’re doing a great job! ❤️
This is amazing! I had to watch in 2 parts, but eagerly came back to finish. Thank you for the sections of timelapse, I find them very relaxing. Your channel is a happy place which I sorely need right now. The pictures are very detailed especially the fish!
