Xabi Alonso is the latest to sit at our Masterclass board, here explaining to you his various roles and responsibilities at Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich - and how they changed under the managers he played for.
Alonso spent his formative years at Real Sociedad where he made his first-team debut at the age of 18 and went on to make more than 100 appearances for the club. He later joined Liverpool in 2004 and was part of their historic Champions League-winning night in Istanbul in 2005. The Spaniard then moved to Real Madrid, playing under both Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti.
In the latter stages of his career, the midfielder went to Germany and played under Pep Guardiola, and Ancelotti once more, at Bayern Munich. He won three successive Bundesliga titles before hanging up his boots in 2017.

No background music. No fancy transistions. Just plain facts. Awesome
.
Respect
And no interviewer interrupting!
its xabi. what else you need
Music would be allowed for a Brazilian masterclass player, you know why because they just simply play joga bonito
Xabi's management infinity gauntlet: Benitez, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Guardiola, Del Bosque, Aragonés. All European champions.
Top comment.
And his style of play was always different under each of those
He’s going to be a class manager hopefully I can be his assistant 😃😃
Now he needs to learn a bit of klopp now
Mourinho wasnt european champions with Xabi.
8 minutes for a player like Xabi is not enough. Not enough.
I hear a lot said about him but not sure what to watch when I study him

Next episode COACHES VOICE with XAVI II (length 5 hours)
Viewing this in 2024 after the extraordinary job he's doing well Leverkusen.
Xabi will be a top coach.
He speaks Spanish, English and German. He had the best coaches of our time. He won all the big titles. He was a baller and a very intelligent midfielder. I know that Bayern want him as a coach whenever he wants.
Not now
REAL SOCIEDAD B GAANGGGGG
He's a head coach on his hometown club
So does Real Madrid
I am watching this video today and it is the month of Sep 16 / 2023... I understand very well he is now the coach of bayerleverkusen and he has proven what he is and they have drawn with bayer munich now I hope he will be the coach of madrid 2024/2025
He has finally done it!!!! Bayer 04 Leverkusen are officially German Champions.
Even Alonso understand why Özil is such a rare and amazing player.
He is that kind of player that makes a good team -> into a great team. But he can't shoulder the while team and be psychical dominant as Ronaldo. Sad that so many people don't understand Özil
damn right!
damn right!
an easier saying that once you put urself in their shoes - like you train hard, play a lot in high lvl, you know the REAL stories way wayyy better than idiotic media ones.
Ozil us great, just to passive, theres a reason why real Madrid sold him and they win 4 champions league titles in 5 years
Ozil is a luxury. No one has ever said he's shit. When you're 2-0 up at home he is one of the greatest players to have played the game. When you're 0-1 down away from home he is literally the last player you would ever want on your side.
He has absolutely no defensive ability or workrate and 20 years ago that would have been fine because you'd play him behind a quick striker like Bergkamp/Henry type partnership and watch the goals. These days it's just not possible. There's a reason Madrid sold him.
He still speaks better English than most of England national team players
Chester GC get outta here
Harry kane...
Harry Kane left the chat
@@garciapedro7554 Not even lying, xabi has better English vocabulary than sterling and lingard, and yes, it's easier to understand him than kane
kane you believe it
what a career. seems like he played a lifetime even after his success at Liverpool
"Success" lol...NONchampions ofanything league where they were fluky, FAcup because WestHam player tried playing fair giving it to Liverpool for Gerrard to strike a hit&hope shot in to make it 3-3 in stoppage time won on lottery shootout again, apart from that nothing from 06/07 to 08/09.

Remember watching this and thinking: this guy is gonna be a great manager?
Mourinho's Real Madrid is still the fastest attacking team I ever saw.
And Guardiola was able to stop them.

@@Zz-gu6xx you would prefer to win the Copa Del Rey to the Champions League? Guardiola DOMINATED Mourinho in their time together. You are hanging your hat on the Copa Del Rey? LMAO
I really believe that Xabi Alonso is probably one of the best passers of the ball ever, his 90° passes could penetrate the most compact of defences, a joy to watch.
nah, Cesc, Ozil, Messi, just a few that's better by a distance
Pirlo from his position
@@deadlydimitarr read my comment carefully, I didn't say he's the best, said he's one of the best, spare me Mr. Policeman.
He is the best I’ve seen at long range passing. Better than Gerrard and when he was at Real he was the only one making long passes. Like he was the only one allowed.
Woosh naaah he was definitely top top class but not better than Gerrard. Prime Gerrard was the best midfielder in the world
deadly dimitar alonso is one of the best passer in the world. Wtf you talking about. The players you mentioned are better by some distance????
Fuck off trolls
Here after he won bundesliga with bayer leverkusen. Congrats Xabi🎉🎉
It happens now with BAYERN LEVERKUSEN.
What a journey he have. Such a great player, yet great manager he will become.
*Bayer Leverkusen
Always felt he never got enough credit. He's never the first name that comes up when naming legendary midfielders. He makes my all time XI.
Coming back here after Bayer's undefeated title. 4 years ago, he was a genius already.
What a player, what a career. Champion everywhere he went! He's not the first player you think of when you think of the "golden years" at Liverpool and Madrid, but there's a reason he was always there. I would love to hear him tell stories of specific games, and go into more detail on tactics.
Blud went to lift the trophy with Leverkusen this season 🗿
one of the most intelligent, quiet, professional, absolute ballers of the game #legend
Xabi Alonso - one of the most intelligent yet also hardworking footballers of our time, and will most likely be a top manager in the mold of Pep Guardiola if he ever manages a top team in the future.
His defense-splitting passes were out of this world, yet he was also very solid defensively as a DM. A slightly rougher version of the great Andrea Pirlo if you ask me (and that is a very, very good thing).
HE DID IT BOYYSSSSSS
Classy and elegant on and off the pitch, perfect midfielder, fit in like a glove in rougher Rafa and mourhinho sides as well as elegant Spain and Munich sides. Every team regressed after he left. I think he was the best in switching play from one side to the other.
Passmaster and in my opinion one of the best passers of the ball in the 21st century up there with Xavi and Pirlo.
Pirlo lol
I am a Barcelona fan, but we definitely need to mention Scholes in that conversation.
@@juanmanuelgarcia-moore7270 Yh, but Alonso was better than him
Xavi plays really good because he play for Barcelona, put him in West Ham and he only become a second Mark Noble
@@notyourmom697 Maybe so! But he is still one of the greatest passers of the ball!!
He's going to be great manager one day.
What a man. I’d love it if he managed Liverpool in some point in his managerial career
The hell is that name you have?
He will
Captain Oz he mains sadio
well...................
Spain is truly dominating the world of football. Interesting how Arteta and Pep are two of the best in England, Xabi Alonso is leading the bundesliga after 7 games, Xavi won La liga in his first full season, and Emery keeps impressing with Villa. The country will likely wind up shaping football like the Dutch for the next 10 years (which isn’t crazy considering the lineage from Michels -> Cruyff -> Guardiola -> manager X, Y, Z). This is a huge simplification, but you get the point.
One of my all time favorite players. Extremely elegant on and off the pitch.
xabi played in such great teams, what a career he’s had !
This guy is a winner through and through.
Xabi still a LFC legend in his own right so underated
I enjoyed the last bits about his experience as a youth coach. Good channel!
"They learn quicker than i thought" - His explanations sound like he's such a natural teacher, bet that has to do with it as well..
Alonso will be an amazing coach! He was such a class player and understood the game
damnnn, look leverkusen right noew 🤯🤯
Alonso is the best passer I have ever seen. His positioning and reading of the game was second to none and just unreal technique when striking the ball.
One of the best players I have ever seen.At his best, he was poetry in motion.
Xabi I wish you had stayed at Liverpool longer, A world class player we missed. Legend. YNWA.
thee hawklord fuck off
"With Messi... (sigh)" perfect description! Xabi was fantastic, one of the best!
I began appreciating the tactical aspect of the game perhaps in my mid twenties. Since then, I've never found a CZcams channel that covers that.
Till now.
Kudos Coaches' Voice for your videos 👍
@Hank Petersen I have. Different content than CV but still good nonetheless. Thanx 👍
When I was Young, I used to call myself Xabi Alonso😂🙌⚽💯
Such an intelligent and talented footballer, I recently watched a review of Liverpool's 06/07 season and was really impressed. I can see why he is touted to become a good coach over the next few years.

he knew what he was talking 4 years ago
"Closer to competing with them." He said it all in this line.
He is a born leader. Intelligent, yet humble enough to learn, and he is the kind of guy who enters any room and you know he's in charge, without a fuss, without being your best friend, but with a strategy to win. A champion. Sure, Bayern would like him as their coach someday, or Liverpool, or Madrid, but eventually, he'll be put in charge of Spain and win another WC for them
Held the Shape of a team, he did. Relieved underpressure teamates, Put/Lure/encouraged Teamates in good position. Also a Long Ball king.
What a player this man was! I hope he return Liverpool as coach someday! Forever his n°14 red shirt will remembered
Pep needs to b promoted to first team manager. Not a man manager yet but a good coach. The players know him and will respect him
we played luton town in the fa cup, xabi and the keeper had a race, xabi had a shot from 70 yards you should of seen the look on gerrards face, a-l-o-n-s-o its alonso xabi xabi alonso :)

I think he'll be an excellent coach, so much knowledge of the game, and has worked with Guardiola. that's not just the Liverpool in me 👌
Coaches voice and Tifo are the best channels out there
Absolutely loved xabi alonso great player,Liverpool never replaced him, makes my all time Liverpool 11,one the best passers ever,
When Xabi speaks..... its gospel. Not too quick, not powerful, not fast. But the man an insane fútbol IQ. Una Leyenda 👍🏽
Love it!! Great video. . YNWA, Xabi Alonso. ❤️
I feel like I went to a fancy coffee shop around 3 to 5pm, ordered an espresso per hour whilst there and just chatted with Xabi about football the whole time and at the end of the meeting he said “I’ve got it” and paid for the whole thing. In reality I watched an 8 min video of Xabi explaining his function on the field and that is the wonderful thing about this video, it doesn’t have anything “complex” in its production/composition but is a perfect piece of content. Counting the days for something like this with Pirlo.
Informative channel for us who aspire to be coaches in future. Xabi Alonso has enough exposure to be the next big thing in coaching.
One of my favourite players to watch. Absolute joy. Ynwa
Awesome to listen and scratch the surface of such an intelligent player. True legend.

FANTASTIC! Guys, thank you) Waiting for the next videos with Xabi! Cool and very clever player.
Please make these little more elaborate ...
what a legend...
He was so good and essential in Madrid that Klopp's simple strategy of man marking him made Madrid lose 4-1.
He was the only creative player on that team, that's why.
Ehm, when did Madrid lose 4-0 to Klopp?

As an Arsenal fan, Xabi has always been my favourite player outside my team; even during his Liverpool days. Very dynamic and incredible range. Then his Madrid stint happened and i felt he became even more complete. Great video and fantastic insight.

One of the best DefMid I've seen in last years. Strengh, technique, long pass and incredibly intelligent.
ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER EVER HE'S JUST AMAZING
I really enjoyed this upload - Great to watch as a player in the premiership, he was cut above.
He was world-class in the end, but he also had a couple of frustrating seasons. There's a reason why Rafa was looking to replace him at one point
But still, we fell apart when he left in 2009
