Monster Mike discusses camber and how that's typically a concern with solid axles however what we've found is that is very important after swapping your axles that you have the truck professionally aligned by a shop that specializes in off-road vehicles. We have found that certain wheel, tire, and suspension configurations require caster/camber adjustment. James Duff does offer the parts to correct your alignment issues.
    To correct caster you will need the correct c-bushing:

    Bro, I can't thank you enough. I have a Frankenstein raised Gmc k1500 with leaf spring lifted and a 78 Ford 250 4x4 Dana 44 front rear end. This is the exact video that I needed to see. Thanks a ton man

    Great video and it really helped with my install. Only thing I want to mention, driver side went perfect with this method 👌🏼. Passenger side I ended up with 40lbs of pull after. What worked for fixing this was unseating top ball joint and loosening sleeve. Torque sleeve to 40lbs and then torque castle nut to 100lbs. I tried less torque on the sleeve (

    Thanks for the video. I've got a bent axle tube on my '78 Bronco and I have having to swap a new housing in. Those upper ball joints are a funky design. Thanks for the tutorial on them.

    I wanted to thank you guys for all of your videos. You made me putting together the front end of my 1978 F-150 short bed 4x4 so much easier. I put your T-Rex bars on the lower spring perches and the heim adjustable track bar end on my truck. It looks so good. Thank you.

    Thanks for covering the nuances, that's helpful! Currently finishing up a Dana 44 from a 79 F150 to go under my 96 F150 and this saves me a lot of time searching for info.

    Hey Mike having issues with my knuckle from this kit pairing to my Dana 44 inner knuckle outer knuckle part of the kit is hitting the inner knuckle. Any ideas why? Anybody else have that issue? Assistance and help would be appreciated.

    sense your not in the rust belt, what are the options when the tool used for that ball joint expansion nut doesn't want to come out?

    Duff customer here. On my 77 Bronco, what backspacing do I need on an aftermarket wheel to clear my factory knuckles? Thanks! Great video!

    • @BroncoGarage
      @BroncoGarage  Před 3 lety

      15” wheel you’ll want 3.5” of backspace. You could possibly get away with 3.75”
      On a 17” wheel you can do 4” and 4.5” with no issue

    Once you tighten the top to 100lbs is is common to have the knuckle loosen up to like 5lbs pulling force?

    • @BroncoGarage
      @BroncoGarage  Před 3 lety +1

      Yep that is totally normal. In fact it may only do it on 1 side and that is ok too.

    Is there a preferred/best direction for that grease zerk to face on the upper bj? It looks like yours will point straight out the back. The old bj on mine had it on the bottom.

    • @BroncoGarage
      @BroncoGarage  Před 3 lety

      I would face them towards the back of the vehicle so you can get to them and they dont ever get hit by debris from the front at speed

    I'm too far from reaching 25 pounds with the scale torquing just to 25 foot pounds with the adjuster sleeve, there is no way easyly I have to reach up to 50 foot pounds to only reach like 15 pounds with the scale

    I like this video. But I must disagree with you on your camber setting. 1.5 degrees of camber is way to much. I run .25 or less . I have an 89 ramcharger with 33 x 12.5 x 15 . Im running as close to zero on camber as possible. I run 6 degrees of caster for directional stability. I also have a rancho steering stabilizer. No bump steer. Great tire wear and it handles excellent at 75 mph. DJ

    • @BroncoGarage
      @BroncoGarage  Před 3 lety

      We agree that 1.5 camber is too much. Ford designed them with 1-1.5 of camber for the stock size tires and the crown in the roads back in the 60's and 70's. Larger wider tires we set up with .1 to .25 too. Thanks for the feedback!
