- I went to a Jamaican festival which is held in multiple cities in Japan. In particular, I attended the one in Nagoya. I was amazed at what I saw. People really do love Jamaica.
If you know the names of these dance groups and performers please let me know.

The Jamaican culture and music is worldwide. Social media has inspired and influenced the world. We're becoming one in many ways. Blessings.
Social media has nothing to do with it.. Jamaica has been instrumental for many years dating back to the Marcus Garvey era leading up to Bob Marley thanks to him
@@jamaicanqueentvJapanese been traveling to Jamaica long before smart phones😂
I had no idea that we were loved like this in Japan. Jamaica......❤
Don't believe the hype. People who are not Black, love Black culture, but they don't love Black people. Remember that!

We all know the Japanese "got this". We have had many Dancehall Japanese Queens over the decades. Thanks for posting this. I did not know they had such a festival. ONE LOVE JAPAN❤.
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for highlighting this Jamfes in Japan I knew it was a really big thing in Japan for years but I never really watched it so I thank you for sharing. Big respect to you. Nuff love man. 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

I never knew Japan had a Jamaican Festival! I gotta go to this next year :) Thanks for posting this!
Shanghai had a carnival before Covid. Caribbean style . Bare people from Caribbean used to go. Not sure if it still happens . Berlin has a carnival in May.
You're welcome. I hope you do go
This Jamaican from the U.S. will be there next year! bap! bap! 🇯🇲❤🇯🇵
Why?!
Cause it look like fun. Plus I always wanted to go to Japan
@@jlau979 Well, I have an upcoming trip to Japan next year so why not go when they have festivals and why not see some of my people. eeh sah? Bap! Bap! 😊
Big up to Japan every time 💯
wow!😀🤸🏾♂🤸🏾♂😀🤸🏾♀🤸🏾♀😃
because for many years I watched J-vloggers from North America [where I'm from], Europe & Africa on a regular basis. and considering the diversity of topics? not one of them ever mentioned the Jamaica Festival - let alone that it happens every year in multiple cities there!🤦🏾♀
I also don't recall learning there was a Japanese Rasta music & food culture.
and good on who made sure to also include the history about many Jamaican heroes, that's fantastic!
and oh!, I would have been so upset if I learned about this AFTER I had finally visited Japan!
thank god I found out! now I'll consider the calendar dates more meticulously when planning out my first few visits and summertime seems like the right time!👍
thanks for the education!🙋🏾♀🙂
Summertime is fun but Japan has a lot to offer in terms of their culture in other seasons as well so travel to Japan with a mindset to experience Japan itself.
I'm glad I was able to give you an additional perspective. I'm new at this vlogging thing I didn't know it could reach so many people. Thank you for watching.

I am not surprised at all. The UK was the first country decades ago that loved Raggae Music. All through Europe and Canada. I have heard of Japan years ago with locks and loving Raggae.
Wow! This is great thank you!
Since the 80s i always knew the Japanese loved Jamaica and reggae as embraced uk reggae artists whos careers came to and end as it was not hugely popular in mainstream media.
Seeing this has really confirmed to me thier true love of Jamaica and it's reggae music.
The dancing sound system rastas drumming all amazing!!!

So amazing
Bob said it best. Rasta is the way and, the way is with Rasta! Jah Ras Tafari!!
a japanese woman has won the dancehall queen title already & a japanese sound system has been voted #1 sound in the world before as well

“Interesting” is a safe, respectful word. He is a polite man with grace and respect.
Of course it doesn’t matter if the dance groups were not that great. He said the right thing… it’s about the coming together with respect and appreciation of our West Indian, Jamaican 🇯🇲 culture. And that’s a beautiful thing. 🙏🏾💗🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing. Love it. Group 2 dancers were great. Love their choreography and energy. Good vibes.
It’s always pleasant to see so many cultures from around the world who like Jamaican culture..in particular music..in particular reggae..in particular rasta influenced.
How many Jamaicans ah yard..really and truly “like rasta?”
I'm not Jamaican but love Jamaican culture, music, and food. My mother's family is from Trinidad.
Love trini culture too, soka is the bomb.@@NellieKAdaba
@channelone841 this isn't "rasta influenced", it's called dancehall and @positiveaeons it's Soca
Good greetings beenz6795
With raspect..depends what your concept of rasta is.
Jamaican dancehall birthed around 1970’s from the womb of reggae as a child of reggae culture that came into it’s own persona.
Reggae cannot be separated from “rasta”.
Reggae is a child of the village that raised it. Primarily, “rasta culture” calling for “equal rights and justice for everyone.”
Also; Jamaican drum & base from Nyabinghi & buru drumming. Ska, Rocksteady, Kumina, Mento, Pukkumina, Revival Zion. Even miss lou (jamaican poet, folklorist) helped in the village to raise the child..called Reggae whose grandchild is now called “dancehall. Peace & Bliss.
@@beanz6795 It's just that some of my Trini friends spell it that way.
You can look up any type of music and find them dancing in Japan
Can we just talk about reggae right now...Because it's what were watching. .Especially because it would not be real otherwise. It is not a competition. Check this out as a young girl growing up in Jamaica 🇯🇲 when we had concerts at school....music from any country. That is why we're the way we are.....World music lovers.
I never knew that Japan has a Jamaican festival..... thanks for the knowledge and the video 😊
I'm really impressed, especially with the dancing. I would've picked group 3 but group2 really out on a show. Nuff respect to the Japanese people. 🇯🇲 🇯🇲

Nuff love to Japan for your Love for Jamaica stay bless
Whatever we possess or inherited it is honored abroad, so we Jamaican must learn to unite, with brotherly and sisterly love and let others stop think and say we are the stupidest on the planet.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice I'm enjoying the music. The singer
It would have been nice to see several native Jamaicans performing and jamming. Some tunes 🕺🕺🕺🕺💯
I get your point, it would have been nice. However, I'm not sure if the organizers could afford to fly Jamaican artists to perform in a small festival in Japan which didn't even have an entry fee. Maybe the Jamaican festivals in the bigger cities like Tokyo or Osaka had such artists. We will never know.
Nuff love from 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

Gr8 highlight ... the Jamaican thing is global ... and admirable, adaptable Japan has known it for some time. BTW all d groups did well, i think.
Thanks for watching and voting for everyone lol. I think each group has their style and are good dancers which made it hard for me to pick. That's why I left it up to you guys.

There is always something to see and do in Japan. However, summer is great for Japanese festivals.
Thank you!
Jamaican music (reggae) is embraced world-over; not surprising that Japan, a very progressive country, would love this dance form.
i absolutely adore that they love our culture and that's how I think t should be. Cultures should be shared and appreciated together.
Wow...look how jamaica doing the world a favor

I strongly believe that if Jamaican was close by Japan they would have invaded Jamaica ..the way how Japanese are intrigued by Jamaicans scares me as a Jamaican they make Jamaican culture look like it's theirs

Each was entertaining a dance troupe, but Group 2 was the closest culturally to Jamaican music and dance. (Second generation Jamaican American here!) So nice to see that the crowd loved them all. But the real test is the food…missing plantains 😂 Such a nice surprise to see this in Japan. Kudos to the organizers!
Well said.
