They need to add a ribbon for spotting damage... I know you've mentioned this in the past Tbull and I'm gonna keep bringing it up... If destroyer captains are gonna be expected to spot they need to have some visual representation of spotting damage done otherwise new people to the game won't have any idea that they're getting "points" for spotting.

I wish they'd get rid of the advice on the loading screen recommending DDs hide behind bigger ships and spring a sudden attack etc.

@@TbullGaming Hey T, need help picking between two Tier VI BB premiums to get the Hood or Scharnhorst? Hood is fast with good guns with a decent rate of fire able to bring down everything, Scharnhorst is a more of a damage over time ship with outstanding secondary guns. I lean towards Hood because those 380mm guns with a faster rate of fire than the standard Tier VI British BB

Solid video, I'll just add a couple comments from my experience playing the game.
1) The synergy of DD's and BB's can't be overstated. DD's are the eyes, ears, and the real torp protection in the game. Best way to not eat a ton of torps in a BB is having that DD 3-5km out in front of you and supporting them with a salvo or 2 when they bump into an enemy DD. The best way to protect yourself from torps is by making it so they never enter the water to begin with.
2) People commonly gripe about service costs at higher tiers. The best way to mitigate that is maximizing how much silver you earn in each match. To do that you have to be aware silver/XP is not awarded on total damage, it's awarded by the percentage of HP you remove from a ship each time you hit it. A salvo that causes 10k damage yields more XP when it's placed on a DD with 17,000 HP than it does when it hits a BB with 65,000 HP. The best earnings per minute is in targeting DD's and CA's, not in taking shot after shot at well angled BB's.
I think 70% of wins are decided by who team have Destroyers life at the end
And is probably 90% in ranked.
You are not the first person to notice that the outcomes of most battles depend almost entirely on what the destroyers do. Overall, the most powerful/important ships from strongest to weakest are: destroyers, cruisers, battleships, aircraft carriers.

Hey T. I recently found your channel as I redownloaded WoWs: Legends and I love Destroyers, Likeish Cruisers, not exactly the biggest Battleship fan. Commenting just to say that your videos are very well done and I actually recommend them to my friends group (around 4-6 of us) and I usually do my research on games and then work on telling them how to better play since thats just how it is in my group. Thanks TBull, I’m glad you brought back the basics for the large influx of new players in the game. Hopefully this video gets to a good portion of them. I feel obligated to play as a cruiser or a DD now just to ensure that my team has “eyes and ears on the map.” it sucks playing as a BB and having no help for spotting, contesting caps or defending against enemy DD’s!

Hey Tbull, nice video you made here. I been playing this game off n on since 2019. I recently have gotten my brother to play with me and he is new to the game since a week ago. These are the tip videos I like to send to him to go over the basics that will get wins in this game. It’s a nice refresher also for myself because I’ll play this game for a bit then shelve it for awhile but I always come back to this game to see what’s new and to obviously work on getting better boats. Keep up the great content and take care Tbull.
Excellent vid and well said. I know you've done DD game play vids and undoubtedly can't do enough of them to get it to sink in. I for one would like to see a purely spotting vid to not only show the role but to show how to get rid of early high risk play. So many DD players rush out, get spotted with the entire red team still on the board and now they all have one target. Seems like on pretty much any game with multiple destroyers on blue, at least one of them rushes and is the first casualty game after game leaving cruisers to cap while the DD thats left is busy defending his one cap.

So true you’re advice needs to be shared , I get so disappointed with players who don’t know how to play as a team , can’t hit shot or use wrong shell type ! Even when I try to talk to them ? They won’t listen 👂 😞 Thanks for reminding us all of the basics but often forgotten issues
2 things:
1) As a BB player, I know I want to sink cruisers first and foremost, but there's also the time when someone is kiting exceptionally well while a full health BB is 12KM away and showing broadside. On one hand, I know the cruiser is the more important piece to take out, on the other hand, I could shoot the BB and potentially kill or nearly kill it. Deciding who to shoot is something I struggle with, knowing that if I miss the kiting cruiser I'm adding a salvo from the BB to kill my cruisers.
2) Also, as someone who plays mostly destroyers in ranked, I'm pretty nervous about all the Belfasts and Atlanta's I'm about to see next season. Hitting rank 1 using the T61 wasn't too difficult, but it'll be an adjustment trying to pick a strategy next season. Will appreciate tips when that happens.

You should do a vid (if you haven’t)on the basic paper rock scissors mechanic and team work since you reach so many people and that there are so many new players. Especially in higher tiers. It seems more than half the games I play every goes to one side in any game mode passing caps. Which I’ll tell you sucks being left alone in a cruiser.

It's a bit like joining a football team. You have to learn to play your positions. The score by the individual is not important in the overall scheme of things. You can play a good game by winning/holding a cap and by keeping the other team honest. Play for the team and you'll quite likely see the high scoring games come more easily, as opposed to when you're trying to chase it. Stay safe all.

GG. All good info. This vid goes hand in hand with the aiming vids, you only get 2 shots a minute at best in a BBs, spotting and target selection are critical alongside positioning. One thing with DDs please don’t provide smoke cover for BBs then sit in it or disappear behind a rock. Keep them lit, the first targets are essential, usually BBs show up first but I like to wait a few seconds for that inevitable broadside cruiser. Your earlier lesson on kiting is also a skill worth understanding for BBs. Peas love and winning ways, Johnno Bloke
Oh my gosh. Thank you for making this video. I've been frustrated so many times by selfish players who are just going for damage instead of winning the game, especially destroyers that just dream of torping battleships instead of spotting and engaging other destroyers when it's more vital to the match. A battleship by itself is pretty much a sitting duck against destroyers.

tbull thank you for the best video you've done in ages and a new aiming video has to be done player as a destroyer is painful sometimes either dispersion it has got a lot worse since I play battleships I don't think so though so I am in video next for the new guys keep up the good work thank you
If I'm in a cruiser, especially an Atlanta, I seek destroyers out first.
I usually try to set fires on BBs and other cruisers first while keeping an eye out for DDs.
And I always fire from cover in my ATL

Then you're playing it better than many out there, which isn't a problem. The ones that reverse until the hit the back border before moving forward are the ones that cause losses galore

I just started playing and everything you mentioned is exactly the same conclusions I came too. I spend a good deal of my time playing in cruisers hunting for destroyers. My win rate is going up I die with only 20 to 40 thousand damage but I usually have most of the destroyers dead and if im lucky a cruiser too I hate playing as a battleship because they need good support to to be effective and win.
Ah, the gospel of Tbull! Can I get a HeGawn from the congregation! Great advice as usual. I would only add that EVERYONE should kill every destroyer that is spotted. That’s coming from someone who likes playing DDs more than any other ship. You remove the enemies eyes, and the biggest threat to your battleships. As a bonus, with the destroyers gone, your battleships may actually come out and move around.

As a very experienced player i have to say destroyers are not really supposed to "hunt" other destroyers thats more of the cruisers job as they have hydro and radar, destroyers are meant to be where nobody expects them to be "in a good spot not a bad spot" spotting and making the enemy give broadside to their teammates with their torpedoes all while not getting spotted as well as capping, cruisers are supposed to hunt and kill destroyers and then help with everything else using their high dpm while battleships slap those that give too much broadside take the damage cruisers and destroyers cant really afford to take and just generally try to take the attention away from their lower health teammates
I would love to see dev add a self-destruct button for those AFKs and potatoes
As a newcomer to the game, I enjoy playing the Omaha ( like I said a newcomer) and destroyers are usually what I like to hunt down first. To me they are more of a threat than the BB's, but, if opportunity arrives I'll take a torp shot at a BB.

I've been playing about 7-8 months and still trying to learn. How do you spot? I am playing on a PS4 but don't know how to spot and place on map to let team members know where ship is being spotted
I'm aware this is a battleship Video but I need help with the Charlemagne so far I've only played it maybe half a dozen times but the ship sucks in my opinion do you have any pointers that would help thanks brother

Been getting more than a few 0-4-5 games. Zero DD, 4 cruisers, 5 BB. In domination mode (3 cap) who takes the cap? I stay out of cap and defend until the attackers are dead and then try to cap.

I have the basic order of boats, and I have improved my DD skill. Like you said, I get into the tit for tat with BB's no matter what I'm floating in at the time. Usually ends in my ship transforming into a sub but it's hard for me to ignore an open boat to target. One of my biggest issues is comms with other players. I need to find a fleet to join. No mic yet but I will communicate and have tried in matches before. I just got ignored. Was like direct me guns to a target and the team ingored me?
It's kind of 'the Circle Of Life'. In general, Battleships kill Cruisers, Cruisers kill Destroyers, Destroyers kill Battleships.
Specific circumstances may dictate otherwise sometimes, of course. Personal experience suggests that a medium to close range one-on-one between a Battleship and a Destroyer CAN be close to a fair fight, and sometimes even in the BB's favour. For reasons not 100% clear, both my Warspite and my Fuso can be surprisingly adept DD-killers. Go figure.
On Battleship shooting, opinions naturally will vary. My own feeling is that RATE OF FIRE is important. If my guns are loaded and there is an at least semi-valid target down-range, I will shoot. Certainly not spamming - if a few seconds wait will present a better target, then I'll wait. But if it's a choice between holding out for a perfect shot (that may or may not actually transpire) or lobbing off 2 or 3 less perfect shots in the same length of time, then I will go with the latter.

I’ve had HUGE success using the Sinop holding down an entire flank alone because my entire team cucks and runs to the strong side leaving me high and dry but for the non believers out there the Sinop is more than capable of holding the fort it bow tanks everything
another Idea that just comes to my mind: how about a %-score of ship's health pool deleted. I guess that must sound kinda weird and unintuitive, but let me try where that idea orginates from:
The idea was triggered by the way the game seems to calculate the "high calibre" medal. Because I got that medal while a team mate of mine had more dmg than me. So my understanding is that the 30% dmg of the enemy's team health (to earn "high calibre") are not just plainly added up health points of the ships, but it seems that they somehow add up the %s of a ships health that you deal as dmg.
Therefore 5k-dmg-salvo on a 10k-max-heath destroyer gives you 50% of a ship towards your "high calibre" score, while a 10k-dmg-salvo on a 50k-max-health battleship only gives you 20% of a ship towards your "high calibre" score.
At this point I have to stress, that this is only a theory based on me having "high calibre" while a friend of mine in the platoon in the same game didn't have it even though he had more dmg dealt.
I could test the theory or anything, just something I though I'd throw out there :D
But back to my original idea: If the proposed theory is correct as described here, I found it quite helpfull to have a score like that. This way killing a destroyer becomes much more lucrative considering the score, because it counted just as much as deleting a whole battleship.
And let's face it. That would guide the attention to destroyers because of a score, as much as it should be guided by an tactical understanding of the game :)
Whether or not it is how the high caliber medal is determined I'm not sure, haven't really paid much attention. But it is how the damage done is figured into your final score at the end. Doing 17k (100%) damage against a destroyer gives the same xp/credits as doing 70k (100%) against a battleship. Xp also factors in all the scoring ribbons, along with spotting
XP is awarded on the % of HP removed from a ship, not on total damage. The way the scoring mechanics work make it more valuable to target smaller ships first.
Tbull ah, didn’t know that before. And I tried to learn all there is about the game :D would be nice if the game showed how the XP actually is calculated at the end of the game, made it much easier to learn what to focus on

It's very easy to forget what you should be doing, and it happens to me along with every player. But the more you think about it and focus on it, the more it becomes part of what you are instinctively trying to do
@@TbullGaming I understand what you are trying to do but most players look at a game like a shooter no more no less and when the game puts you with noobs most of the time every one just starts playing for them self the most dangerous ship in this game is a good division a team of players that play for their teammates
I’m considering selling my vanguard. It is a terrible ship, the rear guns placement are so bad. Yeah it’s great against he spam because of healing factor but it’s just a sponge. Not really fun to play at all. I remember levelling it because it had good AA cause I though CV were coming. Should i re invest the silver into something more fun like the tier 7 French cruiser?
Well it's a 9 million credit loss not even counting the mods, so I don't ever recommend selling any tier 5 and up ship because of that reason alone. Plus they might tweak it and make it great two minutes after you sell it 😉

@@MrWhitmen1981 I wouldn't sell any ships you don't know how useful they can become in the future like the promo orders boost we had a few updates ago for first win as tbull said you will probably end up kicking yourself if they buff her again.
I wish more players would watch these "how to" videos. So many players have no clue what they're doing and don't do anything to help the team and I just don't understand it. Like what is fun about getting deleted less than 2 minutes into a match? What is fun about sailing at max range, shooting and hitting nothing all the time? What is fun about being the last ship standing against multiple enemies 'cause your whole team was wiped out while you were sailing in the very back? What is fun about losing all the time and the few matched you do "win" you are at the very bottom of your team 'cause you didn't do anything? Even at high tier matches you see these players and I always ask myself "How did you get this far in the game if you're this bad at the game? oh right, they probably just paid stupid amounts of money to get here" I mean isn't that the point of the tier system? so work and build up to higher tiers so you know what you're doing? how to play effectively and win?
I played a game today as a BB I was pushing with two cruisers so we spot enemy crusiers so I fire at them next thing u know my team leaves me and I'm getting absolutely fucked by the whole enemy team I have 3 BB's firing at me 4 cruisers attacking me and to top it off destroyer wipes me out

On my end all I see is a black screen
Seem I am always stuck between a rock and a hard place I took down the cruisers (4) this morning then had a destroyer my secondary guns finished him, now it was another Battleship two cruisers, two destroyers verse 3 battleships I start my approach to find both the battleship I had been taking heat for the whole game is now heading for the rear and the cruisers and destroyers are capping bases out of range, I managed to take down 1 of the battleship only to be sunk by the other two needless to say the battleship turned their gun to the cruisers and sank them in short order, with the destroyers making runs on the battleships they were sunk guess what they did next, chased down the remaining battleship and sunk him with 25 seconds to go and we lost the battle with a 150 point lead, yes I had six kills and that was the problem the guys retreated and told me on text I stole their kills and to F myself just one the Ahole who left me facing 3 battleships, great way to play
