The human body can survive for about 3 days without water, which can be extremely hard to find in hot desert climates.
Look for signs of life if you can't find a water source. Vegetation, birds, and insects can all mean a nearby water source. Fruits, vegetables, cacti, and roots all contain water and mashing them with a rock will release some liquid.
Water flows down, so check low terrain. Canyons and mountain bases could be home to a water source.
Morning dew can be collected with a cloth and then wrung out into your mouth.Just make sure you collect it before sunrise or it will evaporate before you can get it. Use cups or any other container to catch rainfall. If possible, build a water-catching tarp. This will allow even more water to be collected.
Look for damp ground, vegetation, and dry river beds. These things can all indicate underground water. If you dig a hole a few feet deep nearby, it's likely water will seep in. If possible, always filter the water. But if you have to choose between dehydration and unfiltered water - take your chances with the water. - Věda a technologie

Or your car breaks down while you weren't on a road... or car breaks down on a road where nothing's in dozens of miles... or however very unlikely a plane crash...
This is important because although the chances are very low of this happening, remember, the desert is extremely hot, and in just a few hours you can be literally dying of thirst.
And remember phones can't be used

this is not going to work in the deserts of Saudi Arabia, since it has no creeks or rivers. the closest under water is hundreds of feets under( if you find it) the heat will easly reach 110 F and the rain is so rare that when if ever falls we celebrate it like if it was the 4th of July.

Condensation is the easiest way to make water in the desert. Dig a hole in a dry river bed, fill it with leaves and place a cup in the center. Cover the hole with plastic wrap and place a stone in the center of the plastic wrap over the cup. A guy died down here after coming from a spring. and becoming stuck in the sand . He tried to hike out rather than wait at the spring

I spent some years around desert lands in the Middle East. It seemed kind of rare to see dew, though I did see a little frost, once in Iraq and once in Kuwait. Both in January. Rainy season was from December to May. The most total rain fall in that time period, was 8 inches. Just be looking in the distance for any green areas. Carry along some coffee filters and some iodine pills. Take care!
Actually You can survive without water for about 3-7 days depending on age, genetics, weight, etc. and you can survive for about a month without no food give or take a few days.

I have 2 reports that I still haven't even started that is due on monday but here I am watching how to get water when you're stranded on a dessert...
am an avid desert hiker living in Las Vegas and this video will get people killed. I have a couple truly close calls on long distance hike when I thought I had taken enough water. Dont run out of water be headed back towards the vehicle long before you do. If you are digging holes and trying to get water from a cactus precious moments are being lost you are going to die. The digging is correct but if end up doing that you are close to death and wont last long. The worst info was at the start you can go three days without water which is crap you can do that if home laying in bed. if lost or hiking in the desert especially if you have direct sunlight start shining on you once you run out of water you can start hallucinating and cramping up and heart racing IN A COUPLE OF HOURS. at your vehicle on a high risk hike take a gallon of water and stash it away from the vehicle if you get back and vehicle is gone or burned out. that way you may make it back to civilization.
try for edges of cliffs for the shade. walk downhill only and not exert yourself as much as possible.
put on covering since it keeps the sweat from blowing away and can dehydrate you MUCH faster. true go towards green areas in ravines and if its truly life or death and you wont make it DIG in the sand of the ravines if they are green. never linger thinking you are going to find water keep going towards civilization. START A FIRE IN BUSHES to draw attention your main hope if caught in a situation like this is TO BE RESCUED.
pretty much I can tell you this anyone caught in this situation if you are out of water in the desert and its warm and sunny odds are slim you will make it. YOU WILL NOT find water that is drinkable.
i forgot if going on a hike hydrate up and eat bannanas and other carbs since it makes you retain water to digest it. be loaded up with water and carry a jug in your hand as you go in. think drink off of it as you walk and finish it up and YES DITCH the bottle. hike at night or dusk or dawn once the sun comes up if you are low on water YOUR DEAD-you wont make it

I certainly wouldn't advise drinking the liquid from just any old plant. That could be disastrous. A better option, though more difficult, is to kill and eat animals (lizards and insects), much less chance of being poisoned.
