  • Welcome to the Gold Coast of New Zealand, a beautiful region that feels different from the rest of New Zealand. It's a mini paradise where everyone should visit! we ventured from Marahau Shelter carpark to Anchorage Hut, which was around 24km return and took nearly the whole day to complete.

    Glooming
Originally used in Scottish dialects of English, the word traces back to the Old English glōm, meaning “twilight,” which shares an ancestor with the Old English glōwan, meaning “to glow.” In the early 1800s, English speakers looked to Scotland again and borrowed the now-archaic verb gloam, meaning “to become dusk” or “to grow dark.”
I love the ways the greens come out at Gloming under NZ light.

If you can, you should try to find a New Zealand cicada (they are perfectly harmless insects) you can gently pick one up. They are very fascinating: they live underground for over three years before emerging as a winged adult and then they only live for a few weeks.
