- It's Christmas season and this week I'm sharing my handmade vintage balls or Christmas tree ornaments (or in Italian addobbi natalizi) using fabric, acrylic paints, decoupage, newspaper and lots of arts and crafts. Happy December everyone.♥️This is a very cosy tranquil episode intended to put you in a lovely mood or give you a little inspiration for Christmas decorating rather than serve as a proper how-to tutorial. I’m certain you’ll all ask me about the jazz music.🎺 In order, the tracks I used are: ‘Buon Natale all’Italiana’ 1959 performed by Achille Togliani. Next is ‘Amorevole’ Nicola Arigliano. And again another two performed by Nicola Arigliano - ‘Cerca di Te Solo Me Ne Vo’, then ‘Natale Mi Portera Natale’. Finally at the end, ‘Buon Natale all’Italiana’ again. Hope you enjoy it! Kylie 😘

You are an artist in many fields Kylie. Florence is the greatest square mile of culture in the World!! The Accademia, The Pitti & certainly the Uffizi excel. You display a deftness with a paintbrush, understand perspective with color shading and the value of shadow to instill depth. The Uffizi has Michaelangelo's only painting within a frame & the Pitti has 9 Raphaels!! Would love to escort you and friends to savor some day? And hear that you will consider oil painting as a form of artistic endeavor in your life ahead.

Hi Kylie, such a beautiful Christmas video, so relaxing. My mom was born and grew up in the province of Caltanissetta and Achille Togliani was one of her favourite singers when she was a teenager. She told me that she wrote to him once and asked for an autographed photo, when she got it she put it up in her room. A real heartthrob if the early 50s 😘
Your videos have helped me restore my relationship with beauty. I've been going through a serious period of extreme nihilism - not being able to see the point in investing time making my environment feel good and uplifting, feeling guilty and shallow for enjoying beautiful things and frivolous for spending time in creating them. Your videos have helped me see again that inviting beauty back, small or big, into life is not only worthwhile but actually necessary for the survival of the human spirit. I often think of the the quote from the Dead Poets Society - "Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life.
But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for". Humans cannot live on bread alone and it's the beauty that keeps us going.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s an endlessly fascinating topic to me because, as you say, beauty is so often myopically associated with the superficial. This podcast goes much deeper into the subject and explores my own view that in fact, beauty is quite the opposite - a connection with truth, an involuntary pause of the ego and anxiety to experience awe and gratitude for the world around us. ♥️✨

I really like #1. The vintage Italian newspaper gives a nostalgic feel, and the gold stars are an elegant holiday touch that is perfect against the black and white of the pictures and the type. Bravo Kylie...true art!

Those scenes in the intro to this episode were so atmospheric! I felt like I was watching the opening shots of a mysterious film. I adored the music you chose. The best day of the year for me is going to my sister’s in Bergamo and helping to decorate her tree with any Christmas movie on in the background .
This year is obviously very different, but we FaceTimed whilst Christmas decorating during this second lockdown, and it was lovely none the less. Xx

I love #9 because it has this ethereal glow going on and it almost looks like a world globe with the different countries cut out. But you showed so much care and love in making those ornaments that I love them all, and I'm inspired (and I bet everyone else, too) and motivated to try doing this. By the way, I love the teacup. I have never been to Italy but have always wanted to. As someone who has mental health issues, I find it hard to even head out my front door. But your videos have shown me how beautiful Italy is and I’ve now fallen in love with it even more!
I live in West Texas it’s about 100° right now. I love to decoupage ,I don’t do it quite enough or at all. But I love to see the scraps put together to make one thing. I love the music, I love jazz. You take my mind away from my daily chores thank you!

So unique and yet they seem doable! Creating homemade ornaments over the years makes some priceless memories. I just filmed myself creating a homemade Christmas wall hanging with a pine branch, baked ornaments, pinecones, and dried oranges. It's so beautiful in the sunlight! Can't wait to see next week!

These are lovely, you’ve given me an idea of what to do with my 1908 children’s encyclopedias (the ones with the broken binding) my vintage German glass glitter, all the lovely bits of wrap, tiny bags from my time in Italy, and all the other wonderful bits of ephemera I can’t seem to let go of. This video brought back all the lovely memories of Xmas time in Florence. It truly is a beautiful place at Christmas.

Im moving to rural Spain and having to leave everything behind. Its now evident to me that the Amazon crazed way of buy buy buy is a very American trait has done me a huge disservice. In Spain, yes there is Ikea, but 4 hours away and shipping is not so simple to a town with little roads leading to stairs. So as I am celebrating what may be my last Christmas in the US, I am watching your video knowing this will be me next year. Im looking forward to living a more purposeful and artesian life.
