I only just realised that Gypsy Rose's mom named her after the character "Gypsy Rose Lee" from the play "Gypsy". In the play Gypsy's mom uses her to follow her own dreams of being famous. So Gypsy Rose's mom literally named her after someone who gets exploited by an overbearing mom, and then she exploited and tortured her for decades.
Damn, I only just made that connection!

Rose is the name of the mother, in the play Gypsy. So she named her daughter after the mother. And that definitely aligns with someone with Munchausen by proxy syndrome.And at the end of the day Gypsy was able to manipulate someone into doing the things that she wanted

@@Noblebird02 It's pretty well known for theater kids and people. Especially this one song called Rose's Turn where the Mom character kinda loses it. They redid it on Glee too so it got some more recognition in pop culture there.

So excited to see his new stuff and cannot wait to see him in person again. I saw him for his own show and opening for Trevor Noah. I heard all his jokes before his opening for Trevor and still thought he was waaaaay funnier than him.

the jan 2 joke hits hard bc thats my birthday and usually it is chaotic as fuck but this year i think that random dude took my karmic bad luck bc i had a good birthday... sending peace and love to the guy having a rough Jan 2 this year i feel that emotion.
I was just talking to my husband about the gypsy situation, like we were teens/ in our early 20s. I had lots of male friends, none of them would murder their girlfriends’ moms. Like running away was always on the table, but murder? Naw that’s too far for most young men.

Niiice!! Coming in swinging. I admire how Josh tip-toed around the Gypsy Rose story by not calling her a murderer. Yes, she told this man to kill her mother, but she had been abused for over 20 years!! Can you imagine the mind fuck it is to know that you can walk, but your own mother confines you to a wheelchair for 20 years in order to swindle people and charities out of money? How much did that weigh on her conscience? And the punishments Gypsy would get if she got out of her wheelchair: being tied to a bed for 2 weeks! That's fucking insane! Gypsy is a victim here. She was in her own personal hell. Not to mention she was pulled out of school in 2nd grade. Now she has her GED, she can walk on her own, she can make her own choices. She deserves a second chance at life. The boyfriend has multiple personality disorder, which is why he got life. Dude needs serious therapy.
Yeah the dude is pretty disturbing honestly. She clearly made some bad, bad choices.. but she seems like a relatively well adjusted person considering her experiences. It's just so disturbing from start to present, yikes.
@@maiynnai The dude is definitely a case to look at too. He clearly has Multiple Personality Disorder. I don't remember if he was formally diagnosed, but supposedly another version of him, named Victor, carried out the murder. Victor was very violent and even wanted to rape the mother. He also had a sexual persona and a good guy persona. And in their relationship, Gypsy did a lot of things to please each one of these characters even though she didn't quite understand it as MPD. But this was someone capable of caring for her and loving her, and that, for anyone, is a hard drug to kick.

I’ve not watched Squid Game because it’s too close to reality, but the fact that they are REALLY recreating the game show is fucked up and creepy, and I believe they really are preparing people to watch people actually die on tv for entertainment and spectacle. It’s a modern day Gladiator meets Running Man.

I believe that Gypsy Rose was borderline tortured and made quite sick by her mother for a long time.
It wasn’t borderline - it was straight up torture! Josh was likely downplaying it for the jokes, but Gypsy Rose’s mom was drugging her, subjecting her to years of painful and unnecessary medical procedures, wouldn’t let her leave the house, forced her to stay in a wheelchair at all times, etc. At one point, her mom had most of her teeth removed. It’s perfectly understandable why she snapped one day and had her mom killed.

The neighborhood here skews heavily into retirement age to the point we hear sirens a lot but it's usually because paramedics are called for falls and other natural elderly hazards. I got fired on the 7th. For telling the boss in a meeting it's illegal to pay us less without modifying our contracts because we are all independent contractors. So they fired me and are doing it anyways.

@@burrybondz225 I was told I had a solid case, but there are alot of families relying on this job to feed their kids and pay a mortgage. The owner will tear her business apart piece by piece, all on their own. I can at least say only one business has survived after I've left. That's only because I backed out slowly and prepared everyone. All others have closed shortly after. That's probably the only comfort I'll receive. The fires of their own destruction will keep me warm and cozy, as I watch the fire crackle.
