- The Super Recycler. All black Toro Super Recycler review. In today’s video, I review the 2020 All Black Toro Super Recycler. The toro company was kind enough to send me a 2020 Matte Black Super Recycler to review, so here’s that review! After a month of weekly use on multiple properties, I love this machine. Toro has hit a homer in with this mower. The Super Recycler is a top notch homeowner lawnmower. It’s self propelled using the Personal Pace System. Just like the name implies, this allows you to mow at your own “personal pace” without feeling like the mower is dragging you across the yard. The Super Recycler bags, side discharges, and mulches. The mulching is what makes it the Super Recycler. It has these red blocks under the deck that push clippings back into the blades to be chopped up extra fine. The Super Recycler has a superior cut, even to that of my Timemaster! The handle easily folds for storage, and offers suspension to lessen vibration and ease the bounce of the deck over tough terrain.
This is a fantastic mower. Tough, rigid design and parts, good looking, and great performing. The 2020 All Black Super Recycler is a great choice for anyone looking for a sub 30in mower.

I picked one up last week I wanted the time master but it was overkill on my 1200 sq foot yard. I only used it once and fell in love with it the cut quality to me is perfect. No clumping or bogging down it powered through my lawn like nothing.
Johnnel White it’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it
@@RVALawnLove most definitely. I was ready to cut yesterday and soon as I got home it started to thunderstorm. So now I'll let it grow out some more to really test the mulching.
I have a 1999 Toro personal pace still runs to this day great mowers
This is my 2nd season with my 21385...cuts great, no clumping when cutting tall grass, my only little complaint is when bagging the grass seams to clump up at the opening in the bag...oh and I just use a clamp on the kill bar so it doesn't shut off every time I have to walk away from the mower..
I own a 2018 model with The Toro engine and one thing to note about this engine is that it has a spark arrestor on the fuel tank breather line located at the front top of the
engine. To get to it just remove the three nuts that hold the cowling in place and lift off. Don't worry things won't go flying everywhere, everything stays intact. That arrestor has a quarter sized filter on the opposite end of where the breather hoses attach and if the filter gets to dirty the mower will start to miss and spudder while running. The only thing holding it in place is a rubber cap that you simply pull off. In the manual they specify a specific level not to fill your tank over, this is to keep from sucking fuel through that line into the carburator. Over filling could cause the engine to miss also.
I finally purchased one exactly like what is fetched in the video. I love it it can mulch thick wet grass into fine clippings withno clumps and i also like the size of the bag. The olny thing i don't really like is the automatic choke on the engine, i have always perferd a prime button. So if i decide to do a leaf cleanup in 40 degree Ohio weather it takes 7 pulls to get going.
I love my Super Recycler. I have the 2019 model but I still absolutely love it.
Pacific Northwest Lawns it’s a great mower, period!
RVA Lawn Love that it is
I bought one with a Honda engine, I love it.
I wished a had gotten mine with the Honda or the Briggs but instead got it with the TXP engine. It takes more effort to start it. Runs good but still doesn't start as easy.
Toro finally allowed Home Depot to sell the Super Recycler, past years only at dealers.
Out sells the Honda currently. Very well engineered mower, mine is 13 years old, I like it much better than my HRX. PERSONAL PACE is tops!
Personal Pace (red 2018) is the best system out there! Just like using a push mower without the effort. I trim around around trees and bushes just like I would with a push mower and it never gets away from you. As you know you can't use the self propelled feature on other mowers to do delicate mowing like that but with Personal Pace it isn't a problem! I love mine!
By the way take a look at my comment about the spark arrestor filter, might save you some time and or a trip to the dealer for a repair.
@@irongoose3865 I totally agree! Another feature with the Toro with the right blade is no stragglers, like I get with the dual blade Honda. The Honda blades have no cup to raise the grass to achieve this. Just saying from my experience owning both mowers.
@@algorel4763 When I was shopping for a mower I was heavily considering a Honda but bought The Super Recycler instead. My only regret is that I got one with The TXP Toro engine instead of one with a Honda engine. The TXP isn't bad but it takes a bit more effort on the pull to make it start and it doesn't always start on the first pull especially after it's been running. Unfortunately the pictures I was seeing online of a Toro with a Honda engine didn't have the blade accelerator so I thought they didn't put them on with a Honda engine. So I got The TXP instead thinking it would cut and mulch better, little that I knew at the time The Honda come with them also. $500.00 later and I'm stuck with The TXP. The deal breaker as far as a Honda mower went was that damn weirdo thumb throttle. No way I wanted to mow with that thing!
@@irongoose3865 The Honda Engine offered on the Toro is smaller than the one on the HRX.
Honda does not offer to Toro the larger 200 CC engine. I hear positive feedback on that TXP
engine. I bet it’s a Honda clone like most today. My Honda will not start on the first pull unless I change the plug yearly. I have learned. 3-4 pulls with an old plug. I have the thumb drive on my Honda, 3 years now, and I am finally getting use to it. It is no Personal Pace!
Good luck with the new Toro!
Some super recyclers come with blade stop with an extra $100
You lose the accelerator which helps finely mulch the grass. The 21383 is more for bagging with blade stop
With as easy as Honda and Briggs engines start this feature seems like a waste of money 💰. If you get a Recycler with The TXP engine you might want to think about it.
Thanks for the detailed review! Been looking at the TM and the SR. Like the TM because the size but I know that comes with extra weight. SR might be what I’ll need!
Nick Lightner super light compared to the TM
Awesome review. I love the super recycler by toro. I am also really enjoying the 60v too. Toro does it right.
SoCal Lawn N Order that always have in my opinion! Thanks for watching bro
Would love to upgrade to this model or better yet a Timemaster. My problem is my two existing Toro mowers will never quit! 😀
Lawn Journeys not a bad problem to have!
Great review brother.
Brett's Grasscapades thanks bud
I hate sponsored reviews , but I like you💋.
Well thanks for watching?
RVA Lawn Love
Yer welcome.
I...want...this...mower.
I love it. So smooth. Great cut
These are sweet mowers!
Jason G yes they are!
Blade stop....”just wanna run inside and get a buhhbottle of beer....err...water”, lol you wanted to say beer so bad 😆
Philip Wise lol
Love your videos! You should start apply for google ads 😘 Ads in youtube.
Glad to see another video, it’s been awhile, haaaa...how is your sprinkler system doing with this heat, it appears from this video your lawn is surviving
The simple Homeowner it’s surviving, but not great. It is a lot better than last summer though. Thanks for watching!
I Miss the shiny red. Still may buy one or an hrx
Just get the one with the Honda engine. Even the Briggs engines are really good. A friend of mine has a Troybilt with a Briggs and I helped him clean some bad gas out of the bowl and that engine started right up with little effort just like a Honda! Ran real good also. My Toro has The TXP engine and it runs good after three years but requires a bit more effort to start and doesn't always start on the first pull.
Erik nothing against you but can not take another Toro review. Seems like all the lawn care nuts got free mowers for rreview. Now don't get me wrong I'm a Toro girl ( got 2 if them).
Agreed, they should’ve spaced out the way the pushed out the products.
They didn't send me one... 😭
I have had mine for three and a half years. Mine has the Honda motor. It has been nice. My complaint would be how the rear wheels lock up when pulling it backwards. I’ve tried everything. It does it when least expected.
I've heard of other people having the same problem but I've never experienced it myself. This is funny because a trim around bushes and trees in my yard every time I mow and I'm constantly pulling the mower backwards. My question is have you greased the rear wheel fittings lately? I grease mine once a year for the last three as part of yearly maintenance along with the oil change.
@@irongoose3865 thank you and yes I have greased them as I am a maintenance freak! I was told that the grease fittings can be over greased as well. When mine drags while pulling back I simply push forward and most of the times it will release. Some people have the issue due to cables adjusted wrong. Personally I think it’s a flaw as nothing is perfect! I still think it is an excellent mower and a great value. Recently changed the blade and I change the oil very frequently because it’s so easy to do, why not! Love the aluminum and the Honda motor, both being the main selling points. Maybe they corrected the issue.
@@Christ-is-King- Happy for you that you got The Honda, I got one with The TXP Toro engine and it doesn't start nearly as easy as a Honda does. The only reason why I didn't get one with a Honda engine is because the online pictures I was looking at didn't show the blade accelerator and I thought The Honda version didn't come with it and I wanted the best cut. The TXP isn't a bad engine but if I still have the mower when I'm sixty I wonder if I'll be able to start it! LOL
@@irongoose3865 right on! I’m sure the deck will outlast both of our motors! Have a great night!
Still waiting to here from Toro to send me one! 😂
All black,, put ghost flames and pin stripe It'll cut even better.
Off topic, but i am going to try brookemeade sod farm for some seed. Do they sell multiple blends, like for full sun and a seperate one for shade?
Mojo I don’t believe they do. It’s a tttf kbg blend (90/10)
@@RVALawnLove thanks. Their prices seem good and i like buying from businesses like theirs, so maybe ill just buy 20 lbs of shade seed and get the rest from them. Im rewa5ching your old videos in anticipation of a fulll reno!
Mojo thanks man. Let me know if you have any questions, be glad to help if I can
Eric, just mower to mower, is the SR preferred over the TM? I tried to get this mower prior to purchasing the TM and couldn’t find one locally. Even more the reason to purchase the TM (and 10k to mow)
Matt Magurean straight up cut quality and ease of use, SR all day. Love my TM, but it’s weight works against me sometimes. It’s a lot of back and forth with the SR though. 21 inches that you have to overlap, vs 30 that you don’t. Hell with it, I need a zero turn! Lmao
RVA Lawn Love I hear ya. Yeah, I bet Toro donates one to you too.
Matt Magurean doubt it, but that would be sweet imo
What type of grass seed did you use in your front yard?
Scott Allen it was seeded fall of 18 with tttf kbg mix from a local sod farm
Have you been not well?
I’m ok, just super busy. That and it rains every weekend, and that’s when I film
@@RVALawnLove Great news! Thank you for your reply! Busy is good, the time passes quickly.

The verdict one year later: Never buy a matte black lawn mower lol
Glad I got a Ego lawn Mower! Love that never have to smell gas. Easy storage.
I recently got a toro 60v mower. I, however, like the smell of gas. Weird, I know
I bought a Greenworks and I’m disappointed with the power and run time. The Ego were just too expensive. I’m going back to a Toro gas model - I don’t mind smelling gas...it’s a nice trade off for more power.
You're really going to love that mower four or five years from now when you need a new $350.00 battery! That is the only reason why I didn't buy that Ego mower. Lets face it, gas is still the way to go unless you don't mind spending money on batteries. And that's fine if you've got the money. There are many advantages to those battery powered mowers and to some people those advantages might outweigh the costs.
But a well maintained gas mower can last for yeeeeeeears!!! I don't think one can say that about the current battery powered offerings. My grandfather has a Murray riding mower that I first sat on 45 years ago! Smallest riding mower you'll ever see! It still runs!
@@tedschmitt178 Whats the voltage rating?
That Ego was $499.99 back in 2018 and as soon as I was ready to buy one the price jumped up to $550.00. That got me thinking and I opted for a high end gas mower instead. Under the radar were Ariens Razor, Honda (silver colored) and The Super Recycler which is the one I eventually settled on and mail ordered tax free with free shipping for $499.99.

Tried buying one of these here in Lynchburg and the dealer couldn't get me one. I decided to buy the Honda HRX 217. Sorry Toro you loss money.
William Johnson that’s unfortunate
Eric, they gave you the mower he was trying to purchase. I have the honda HRX217 for a good 5 or 6 years now. just started to have issues starting it. Will have to google and look for a fix since I'm not ready to retire it just yet.
Wow, with all these free mowers given out to review by Toro i would expect to see some giveaways soon to make room in everyone's garage. 👍🤣 I will be waiting for my chance. 🤔
Haha no jab intended, but... That’s cuz they gave them to all the youtubers, Same result in my area. Congrats Eric
@@mags219_81 I've got a channel and tried to buy one with my hard earned money. Oh well, maybe next year.
