These are the type of tool reviews I look for.. Finding a knowledgeable person that takes the time to show different applications for the tools being reviewed.. Not just mindlessly reading off specs or sitting the tool down and describing the different colors/textures of the tool. Way to go sir, keep up the good work.
Thanks for doing tool reviews! Stainless is less magnetic. And while the magnet check is useful it’s not a true measure. Different grades of stainless will react differently. ;) Keep up the good work!
I bought mine last year and im happy with it. To me its worth it, you can bring it with you anywhere just for minor stuff. Dont expect to much! its cordless.
Thanks for the vid, I just bought one today. I'm doing a TPO roof soon, was going to use it to shape a water channel, and spot repairs. I'll let you know how it goes.
I want to get one of these. Ryobi is coming out with a new version in a few weeks. Supposed to be better. I use primarily Milwaukee at work though which is where I would be using it. Ryobis is supposed to come with the attachments. I’m going to wait and see how that one works before I decide. Great review though.
I think these cordless heat guns are more for electricians than any other trade, I use mine for heat shrink, on cable terminals, works just brill for that
The problem with all these cordless electric heat guns is they just don't put out enough volume. I got the Ridgid cordless 18v butane heat gun and never looked back ;) # R860434B
Thank you for your in depth review. I bought my heat gun from Home Depo on the 18th, yesterday. I didn't buy the battery yet. I do vinyl wrapping on vehicles so I don't need high temps and it doesn't have to be on for long, only short bursts 20 seconds max. About how long do you think the 9v battery could last, and what is the cheapest price you think I could get for a 9v with charger?
The 9 amp hour battery is expensive, I think the price has come down a little since last year. I bought mine in combination with tools last year. The deals have changed this year. I watch the Home Depot website for "special buys" and free battery offers. Acme tools had a big sale last year at the beginning of December and I assume there will be another big sale at Acme Tools soon.
Thanks for the reply. I ordered a 9v with charger on Amazon yesterday, I should get it by Friday. I will give it a thorough testing over the weekend. Enjoy the holiday!!!
After Milwaukee tools launched one year, Milwaukee Tool will definitely do so-called VE, cost-down, change Germany switch to HK switch even Chinese switch, change Japan chuck to Chinese chuck, etc. Milwaukee Tools have a team, 50 persons to do this VE. The quality would obviously become worse after the VE.
Low odor kerosene / lamp oil is actually better. Put on the sticker and let sit a few hours so the sticker absorbs the kerosene. The glue is then softened and it can be peeled off really easily. Any residue glue is removed also with kerosene. While perhaps a little slower kerosene is very gentle to the surface. Only a few rubber types you need to be careful about. Acetone damages many types of plastic and paint and besides fumes are quite unhealthy. Acetone I don't use if I can avoid it. Kerosene will leave the surface slippery but it'll vaporize with time or you can quickly wipe it with denatured alcohol or a soapy cloth.
Because when I bought the tips they were not specifically for the new (at the time) M18 cordless heatgun but were for the 120V AC Milwaukee heatguns. Was glad to find out the nozzles were the same for AC heatguns and M18 too, so all good.
planning to buy this exact heat gun just to melt accumulated snow/ice from my wheel wells. has anyone here ever tried that? I live in sault ste marie ontario and it gets down to -25 here. also, does it work in cold weather? i would assume it would have a harder time since it will be pulling in cold air...
A few days ago it was -15F and I had one window in my house that was so iced up from frozen condensation on the inside bottom edge that I used the heat gun on it. I used the heat gun to get the ice to release enough to force the window open, then melt the ice (about a 1/4 inch thick) to get the window to close and properly seal again. I was very careful because I did not want the heat to break the cold glass or ruin the window frame in anyway. I used the heat gun with below zero air coming in the window. It worked to melt the ice. However it took quite some time (about 15 minutes or so) to melt even that small amount of solid ice. The heat output of this heat gun will melt ice and snow for sure, but the volume of air flow is low. You have to point right at the ice (like 1 to 3 inches away) and wait and wait then move and wait and wait. You will find that it takes a very long time for this heat gun to melt large chunks of ice and snow. I understand the situation and the desire to find any possible solution. The volume of ice would be a much larger task than this heat gun is suited for, but yes, it would melt ice, slowly, at very close distance, even outside in the cold. I don't think you should get this heat gun for that application, it would be frustrating I think.
Thanks for the feedback! Would any of the corded Milwaukee (or any other corded brand) heat guns that has the capacity to flow more air and get up to temp quicker work better for my situation?
Yep. It's a trade off with the freedom and portability of cordless. Come to think of it, I should have tried the hook deflector with PVC. It might cup the heat and speed it up a little.
bzeug Milwaukee actually officially said it wasn't designed to do that anyway. But I don't own a normal one yet and whenever I do bend conduit it's usually because a source of power isn't nearby Would you say it still does the job well?
On 1/2 inch Schedule 40 it can make a nice bend. I did it three times, the third time is on video of course because that one looked the best. I think the reflector hook nozzle would help so that the heat also gets reflected onto the back side so there is less heat loss. I think there is a heat gun kit with that nozzle included, you'll have to check around. If you can freely move the PVC around it will work, if the PVC is mounted or buried in the ground you are going to have a hard time getting the back (less accessible) side heated up enough to soften. I suspect larger diameters are going to be a greater challenge.
bzeug Damnn id be working on 20mm as a minimum, I think that's .8inch. I'll have to hold out until they make something that's specifically for this application. Thank you for the most in-depth review of this tool on CZcams so far!
Has anyone tried it for window tinting..i tint windows and it looks like it would be great, but whats the run time on the battery? Back windows take alil longer than some.
antwan Scott I just used it yesterday to tint my windows, it helped so much. Just be careful not to have it too close to the film; I kinda burned mine a little
This thing is the worst heat gun in the history of heat and guns. Who dafuq has 3min to get to 600 degrees. I could do like 7 wires with 1.5 ah battery and maybe 25-30 with my 6 ah battery but it made it super heavy. Not suited for any volume based production environment. Wonderful review though, I really enjoyed it and have alternative uses thanx to you.
I am a DIE HARD Mllwaukee guy. This is WORTHLESS it won't get hot enough to melt butter. It is just a matter of wattage. With only 20V there is NO WAY to make any power. Just no way to beat 120V AC. It is just worthless...
Holy shit, is the microphone in your mouth. Sounds like you're stirring a bowl of mac&cheese. I can hear every little noise coming from your tongue/saliva.

Thank you for this review! It was so in-depth and i wish more people could post like this. After this video i will definately buy it
The contact sensor can read further inside the tool. The other one reads more the surface temp.

Excellent review
Sounds like one for the nearest skip great video

Omg I want one I need
+1 for turbo encabulator
Need this to rewrap batteries
The problem with all these cordless electric heat guns is they just don't put out enough volume.

Do the tips work on the corded Milwaukee heat gun? I just wanna make sure before I make the purchase
These tips all fit on my very old Milwaukee corded 8977 heat gun.
Acetone (nail polish remover) for stickers and glue...
I think you are right. Heat on the stickers just made a mess.
What I did not know? It says tool only that means tool only and why wouldn't the tips fit
Because when I bought the tips they were not specifically for the new (at the time) M18 cordless heatgun but were for the 120V AC Milwaukee heatguns. Was glad to find out the nozzles were the same for AC heatguns and M18 too, so all good.
Does it weld pvc roofing?
I very much doubt it. It barely softened up PVC comduit. If it can it will take a long time.
I gave mine away it just does not get the job done !
Cheap stainless is magnetic higher quality stainless is not.I do not believe this gun would work well in cold climates.
Good for heat shrink. That’s about it. Not worth it for bending pvc
I got mine to thaw locks. Where I live we often have freezing rain and it gets everywhere.

The corded heat guns will definitely produce more heat and airflow. Be careful they can melt plastic, paint, etc.
I wanted to get this to specifically bend PVC pipe, but two and a half minute a for a bend is crazy

Thank you, complements always welcome. Yes, I think even 1 inch would be a struggle, 2 inch nearly impossible. But that is a guess. I only tried 1/2".

Mich Gut ok thanks cant wait to try it
Do i need it?No
Do i want it?No
I was not too impressed by this tool . Guess I thought it would do a lot better maybe next time they will do better hope so.

Used one today, not worth it. Total
Crap

Sorry about that. I own better audio equipment now. Was using a cheap gamer headset.
bzeug you certainty dont need to apologize, thanks for the response though.
Oh my god I literally looked though the comments to see if anyone else was driven insane by that sound... haha
These are rubbish
