    Since this review I've barely used a corded heatgun, opting to use the cordless one whenever I need a heatgun now.

    I'll keep the cord for now. Like you said a little spendy.

    With one heat setting and cant being able to lock the trigger I would NOT upgrade.
    The dewalt corded kit has a ton of settings (digital) , also has flip out legs for standing it up and comes with a case and all accessories and when it first came out it was $79 CDN.

      Dill Wiggle I really enjoy it being cordless but I absolutely miss having more heat settings and not having to hold the trigger. The trigger thing gets annoying when you are rotating around an object.

      Yup you need to use 2 hands on your work sometimes so a locking trigger would have been almost a no brainer. You can lock butane/propane torches, there should be no reason on these heat guns.

      Dill Wiggle agreed. It's a major oversight. Like you said you can lock on an open flame so safety concern doesn't make much sense.

    So are you going to cut the cord on your heat gun? Or is the added price and lack of a trigger lock too annoying to you?

      I cut the cord. Got to pay to play.

    I would assume a cycle is holding the trigger long enough to heat up 100%, then letting go until its cooled 100% (1 cycle). If I'm right, that sure seems like it sucks.

      Travis Crist - It allegedly has 17 minutes of full-heat runtime, which is NOT BAD.

    I don't like the fact that it only has one setting. It seems like it would be ideal besides that. Seems like a serious oversight, unfortunately.

      I agree. I’ve found it to be a good “middle of the road” setting but adjustability would have been nice. I do find myself using it often though. The convenience factor is just huge.

      @@HotRodHippie I have some tools for both the M12 and M18 system and I'm debating getting the dewalt cordleadd instead, since it does have two settings, even though it would require another set of batteries.

    i live in northern ontario (canada) and it gets down to -25 during winter. I am looking to get this exact heat gun to melt accumulated snow/ice from my wheel wells. will this work for that? also, will this work in cold weather? i would assume that it would work harder since it will be pulling in cold air...

    • @HotRodHippie
      @HotRodHippie  Před 6 lety

      Angela Katimbang i would not recommend it for that. Small de-icing jobs like the locks I recommended sure but not larger projects like that. The battery life is poor and as you said it would have to work harder with the frigid temps. I think it would probably wear out the batter trying to do just one wheel well honestly. Also even in ideal conditions it didn't get as hot as a good plug in heat gun. So unfortunately I don't think this is the right choice.

      Thanks for the feedback! Would any of the corded Milwaukee (or any other corded brand) heat guns that has the capacity to flow more air and get up to temp quicker work better for my situation?

      Angela Katimbang any of the ones I linked in the description should do well. Corded will be the way to go for your need. I can say for sure the Matco corded one heats up quicker and gets hotter than this cordless one does. The master appliance one is probably a good balance of quality and price. I don't know that I'd recommend the Wagner one, I just put that there for a cheap option for folks. Just be careful not to melt your wheel wells or paint. Ha
