Britt: "Bill! Why is all our kitchen so grimy??"
"Wait...you weathered the dishwasher???"
Bill: "I got a problem, OK?!"
HAHAAAA!
Why is your dishwasher so dirty? did you weather it?
'ahhh, yea, definitely not cause i haven't cleaned it'
tip take a picture of inside moving parts so you know where everything goes when you put it back together
Yep, its the best way, I got hundereds of pics of the insides of nerf guns
Excellent suggestion!

Cosplayers on quaranteen: WATCH THIS I AM GOING TO REPAINT THIS NERF GUN
Gotta stay creative somehow!
Oh its so cathartic
Adding the battery and switch behind the sliding prime was an ingenious and elegant solution.

@ItsJustRhino we release our videos early for our Extra Credit Club members! You can learn more about that here: punishedprops.com/extra-credit-club/
Looks so great!! We bought some NERF guns to do a project just like this after our we visited y'all and they've just been sitting around since. This really makes us want to bust them out 😀
p.s. also want to re-visit the DIY ammo sometime lol
Wooo! Yes!
5:42 "It's not trash..." I feel you :)
It's only trash if it's useless!
@@punishedprops Some may call this junk, me I call them treasures.
All makers are hoarders. Just ask Peter Brown!
One of the other nice things about Nerf Modding is that you can cut out sections and replace them with textured EVA foam. It really makes the grips feel and look cool!
Makers don't call it hoarding. They call it "Saving it for a future project". ;-)
Great ideas!
@@punishedprops *not hording, think of it as merely the advantageous archiving of randomly displaced elements in a resourceful manner for the express purpose of future assemblage and repurposing...LLC*
Uncle Bill, crankin' right along! MANNNNNNN, I like how this turned out!
Aww shucks, thanks so much CrafsMan!
Bill: makes a nerf gun mod
THE SHOP: "0 days glitter free", ARE YOU LYING TO ME!!!
😝
liked before even watching, I know that all the videos that Bill does are amazing and worth watching, thumbs up to Punished Props Academy
Thank you so much!
Whenever I sand my Nerf blasters' warnings off I like to keep the WARNING and symbol in place, and occasionally a few other words, so it looks like there were some instructions there on how to not have this thing blow up in your face like an overcharged plasma rifle.
That's a fun idea!
Love seeing your use of lights in this one!
Thank you!
"Why do I own that? Because it was $1 at Goodwill."
Dude, story of my life right there. GW4Lyfe
Bill: Some may call this trash; me? I call them "Treasures."
HAH! Good ol' Belethor
I love the shots of the priming process, it always for a split second looks like you swapped out the prop for a 3D model and it's so oddly satisfying.
Right? That's one of my favorite stages
Watched this today, great job and love the defused light part. It also heartens me to see bits and pieces used in a build. Nice work my friend.
Thanks so much!
I'm amazed of all the details you've put in to this, truly awesome!
Thank you so much!
Nerf gun props hold a special place in my heart as it was the first thing that got me to make my own props. I love it when you do these occasional toy gun mods and repaints. So much fun!
We love them too :)
Another great video from you. The mod looks great and the diffusion of LEDs (with the slight crackling effect) is really cool idea.
Thank you so much for watching!
Yes, it’s been way too long since I’ve sat down to enjoy a blaster mod. Absolutely loved the gage you used, I’d imagine that’s a very useful tool
It's awesome! We have a link in the video description if you want one for yourself :)
Great video as always...thank you! That contour gauge is AMAZING....I HAD NO IDEA IT EXISTED!
Right? Such a great tool. Thanks so much for watching! :)
LED's add the extra mile to everything ;) The switch access is a great idea to hide it!
Thanks so much!
Good to see you back Bill! I was starting to worry (I'm silly that way). Hope the crew there is keeping safe.
We're doing well, thank you for your concern! We chose to take a short break from videos so we could focus on getting Foamsmith 3 written!
Hallelujah!!! I was worried there would be no video during COVID-19!!!! Made my day this!
Fantastic!
great job Bill, this cheered me no end today
That's really good to hear :)
I would love to see you mod the tools you use everyday to look cool, but still function. Like strip a heat gun down to the basics and rebuild it to look like a blaster, but maintain its functionality.
This is just the kind of project we all needed today Bill, thanks gang!
Happy to help! Thanks so much for watching :)
Great video Bill!
I'm glad to see that you did get some of that perf board that was recommended. It does make these electronic projects easier.
The only thing that I would have added would be a momentary switch activated by the trigger that lights up a different color LED for a "blaster bolt" effect.
That would be awesome!
Glad to see you back in the saddle again, hopefully we'll see videos more frequently again
That's the goal!
Pretty awesome build. I love painting old toy guns I find at thrift stores :)
Thanks so much for watching! It's a really fun project
Damn that's some relatable content when you try to blow away stuff with a mask on. Love the greeblies box. In all other aspects of my life I am a minimalist, but as soon as it comes to my little boxes of greeblies it's a different story.
Wow, I love your Greebly bins!
Thanks!
THANK YOU for this lovely video; break; and wholesome content that otherwise cannot be lived without
Awww that's so kind. We're SO glad we can help people find some joy these days
I love when people do mods and paint up nerf guns! I could never deface a nerf gun myself but I really do enjoy watching the process. (Adam Savage's video on TESTED is my personal favorite).
That's a great one!
he gives off so much happy dad energy, i love it.
Hard to be bummed when you're working on something fun!
Glad to see a new prob congratulations on the new book cant wait to get my hands on it stay safe out there
Thanks so much!
Good to see yall back in action
Feels good to be back!
Awesome as always. A must watch!
Thanks so much :)
Looks really good, better than most of us could do for sure.. I think I would have done a little silver dry brushing around some of the high points to make it look more beaten up. The rub and buff on the screws was a nice touch.
Great idea! Thanks so much for watching :)
Lady Longshanks needs to make something during quarantine. Keep your hand in, Britt!
Britt makes all kinds of cool projects and shares them with our Extra Credit Club when she's not filming all our videos! Check it out: punishedprops.com/extra-credit-club/
Awesome! Question, would it work to make removable covers for the frame screw holes to o.t.t the final look? Had ideas of plugs with magnets or nice snug fitting foam caps?
You probably could - worth experimenting!
Awesome job on this build, Bill.
Thanks so much!
Wondering where you've been. So happy to see a new vid!
The profile of this gun reminds me so much of a peacekeeper blaster from Farscape! Have to find one of these to mod into my own Winona.
Been eagerly awaiting a new video 😊 , only so many times I can testify your videos lol
Happy to produce content you guys like!
For a future project I suggest eather the vermin or plasma carbine from the outer worlds, both look awesome and would probably require different styles to make.
Good to see you again! Looking forward to the book
We're glad to be back and so excited!
Gotta love the old dart tag line, even if that blaster is reverse plungered
*something else that might be useful if looking for an interesting texture, especially for grips and handles...gaffers tape... very tough and sturdy that can be weathered even more with acrylic paint...and then later sealed...especially useful if you want the weapon you're constructing to look like it's seen a lot of usage, and front line dings and infantry repair on the fly*
*would love to see you do a collaboration with the create scifi channel here on youtube if you've not done so already*
Not being a lighting guru like you, how hard would it be to either make the lights change color or brighten on the trigger pull? Might be a cool touch on a future project.
Amazing as always Bill
Thank you very much!
great build Bill, Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching!
Soon as Bill starts sorting through the crate what do I spot? An Auto-9!! That would look so cool modded and beefed up even more!
Oooh!
Thanks for the video Bill. The only thing I would have done differently with this build is that I would have used more styrene to decorate the handle.
Thanks so much for watching!
This is perfect. I was wasting sooo much time on other channels. SUBSCRIBED! Peace from Perth Western Australia.
Aw, thanks so much for your support!
I have no idea how I ended up here, But i like this guy. Wasted (debatable) my entire Saturday watching these cool videos! Subbed.
Hey thanks so much for watching! We really appreciate your support :)
Enter sanding man!
Keep up the good work!
Cheers
Thanks so much!
Superglue and baking soda make a great plastic bond. It basically becomes a form of plastic when mixed. You have to work fast but you can build it up, it is sandable and paintable...
Yeah that's a great trick! Works really well.
Woo, nice to see you guys back with a vid!
Tah-dah!
Punished Props Academy I’m glad you got to slow down the release schedule a bit, and I hope you’re both feeling more on top of things. I did miss your content lately, though! It always makes me happy.
Ah, that explains why the channel has been lacking videos in the last couple of months or so. Glad some videos will be up again, and glad that you and Brit are ok.
Finally😌, veryyy cooool build as always👏👏👏
Thanks so much, so happy to keep folks entertained while they're cooped up!
That's really nice. I always like slot-barrel energy weapons. It's a cool aesthetic, since -who says it needs to be round-? And those old Dart Tag nerf blasters are neat sci-fi shells.
They look so neat! Thank you so much for watching :)
17:35 *not only is the hot glue delicious, it's also gluten free as well....BONUS!!!*
Yay ! new vid !!
Only downside, i miss the opening you use to do :/
We'll still do silly skits from time to time :)
Man it's been so long since I've watched one of your videos. Your posts are so far apart from each other it kind of just get the lost than all my other subscribes
Make sure you click the bell next to the subscribe button! You'll be notified when we make a new post :)
Awesome!
Thanks!
Awesomeness!
Hey Bill, I have a technique question. Do you think plaster bandages are just as good as that fancy (expensive) plastic clay and the like for making mother molds?
You'll end up with the texture of the bandages. They'd work as a mold jacket (a hard shell that goes around the outside of some silicone molds for support). But silicone is pretty much always your best bet for making molds.
@@punishedprops thanks! Sorry, I meant to say mother mold. There's that product from smooth on that's a plastic mold jacket, but it's a little pricey....
I've begun work on one of the Lazer Tag pistols. Just paint and cleanup so far.
Fun!
Nice greebles and lights.
Thanks!
Looks Great! Did you thin the Tamiya paint? Tamiya paint generally needs to be thinned for it to have the best results. When spraying metallics, it's best to use a gloss black base coat to make it really pop. Other than that, love the cyberpunk vibes of the prop!
I do usually thin Tamiya with a little alcohol, yes :)
I was wondering looking at the Nerf blaster used. was that not the one they used for the Energy pistols used in Farscape. it looks really similar too it.
Oh maybe! I'm not sure
The finished work looks very Tau from Warhammer 40,000 and I love it
Obviously it's going to vary from project to project depending on the amount/type of LEDs and batteries, but what's the expected battery life for something like this?
That's a great question. I imagine it's similar to a small flashlight or computer mouse, but I'm not sure!
every kid in the world goes "mommy, can you buy me a new nerf gun please? I ruined mine."
Hah!
Another great informative video! I especially liked the part where you put in the lights. Enjoy your tutorials very much. I was able to follow your Mandalorian helmet video to help me make one for my library's comic con-which unfortunately had to be cancelled because of the current virus situation. But I'll be ready for next year!
The secret to good prop making? Hoarding!
You inspired me to get into prop making, thank you.
That's so fantastic to hear!
That shape looks kinda Farscape-ish, that's pretty cool.
Thanks!
This man totally redefined what a nerf gun is.
I hope that's a good thing!
Very cool
Any idea where I can find your tips on painting muzzle burns on blasters? Couldn't find it in the search.
I go over the process a little bit during this build: czcams.com/video/gTH2994-0zY/video.html
Great video come with bloopers at the end😂
We're doing our best to keep everyone's spirits up these days :)
Something that might help to reduce the amount of necessary LEDs is to paint the interior Crome or silver. I guess you could use aluminum tape.
Great idea!
Now that was a fabulous way to start the day. It's always great to see new ways to justify my hoardi...er, visualize the importance of the careful archiving of important parts I'm going to need some day.
He needs to buy an old tiger electronics lazer tag gun.
Heck yeah!
And the Phoenix one not the weird pistols.
"what can't EVA foam do?"
My homework...
That depends on your homework!
if your homework is to make a real historical weapon or something.... oh hell yea eva is your best friend...and Bill :D
It’d be really cool to see the mandalorian’s pistol or rifle as a prop. Doesn’t have to fire but a moving trigger would be cool!
Very cool. Does anybody know which Nerf blaster that was?
always happy to see the angry bumblebee haha
NEEEEEeeeeeEEEEEeeeEEEEE
He is the Bob ross of toy props
Awwwww thanks so much!
6:25 thinking a step bit would be perfect here. :)
We are subscribing!
Fantastic! Thanks so much for your support!
We whose the other person
I am so glad you put out a video.
We're happy to make your day a little brighter!
Costumes and props are my passion. But life always seems to throw curve balls. I live vicariously through y'all. On day I will have work space again and will be able to put to use the stuff I learn from your videos.
Fairly new to foam working. I went to TNT cosplay supplies and they have a lot of options of foam Eva -38 , EVA- 70 . I know that it is different shore hardness. But I have no idea what constitutes using one over another. Hope that makes sense any information that can help would be greatly appreciated.
That basically equates to density! The more dense the foam, the less flexible it is.
@@punishedprops ok sorry another question is there certain situations where you would want to use a high density foam for a type of build over another? Example: for a mask or helmet you would never use any other foam for that build other than EVA - 38? Or is it more of a personal choice ?
that pvc foam looks like it would be good for armor
Yeah! Tons of folks use it for exactly that, especially in the Star Wars costuming communities.
The noise your rotary tool makes XD
WeeeeEEEEeeeeeEEEEeeeeeEEEEE
This just in, local hoarder goes crazy during quarantine and builds firearm. Passersby noted it was in fact "Pretty cool looking" and "Just a toy with some lights" More on this at eight.
Hah!
Start your day off with a dollop, a dollop, of hot glue.
Ha haaa!
This is freaking cool... and I just graduated into lacquer paints and I can't wait to start painting with them. I was actually wondering how you clean the lacquer out of your airbrush, aside from lacquer thinner (which smells terrible). I will be using Alclad paints for my current project.
Fantastic! I usually blast water and then cleaner through my airbrush immediately after I finish a round of painting and before I change colors. That way I rinse out any lacquer before it dries.
@@punishedprops Guess I'll brave the brief smell of lacquer thinner... I have no respirator so I'll work outdoors with a towel over my face
