I always liked the subtle magical properties of items in LotR. Like the Elvish rope undoing itself when they didn’t need to climb down anymore and the magical camouflage of the Elvish capes. It isn’t overdone, which just makes it more believable and immersive.

The one thing that ramps up Grima Wormtongue's creepiness, is his lack of eyebrows. The makeup department knew what they were doing in that respect. I looked up the actor that portrays Grima, Brad Dourif, and discovered that he voiced Chucky, in the "Child's Play" franchise. You'd never guess from his accent in the movie that he was born in West Virginia.

Not sure if anyone commented last time - when the orcs feed Merry something to drink, it's called orc-draught: closest analogue in our world would be rotgut whisky laced with amphetamines. It is actually vaguely medicinal. (On-set, Dominic Monaghan was forcibly drinking fruit juice.)

Andy Serkis should have won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Smeagol, but there wasn't any appropriate category for CGI actors at the time (I'm told they have changed the rules since). That scene with Smeagol arguing with Gollum was done in a single take, with Andy alternating seamlessly between Smeagol and Gollum! If you look closely, you'll note that the pupils of Smeagol's eyes are larger than Gollum's pupils. Speaking of eyes, if you look closely at Galadriel's eyes, you'll see she has stars in them. Tolkien writes, "no sign of age was upon them, unless it were in the depths of their eyes, for these were keen as lances in the starlight, and yet profound, the wells of deep memory." The producers designed a special lighting fixture, which they called the "Galadriel light," to produce this effect.

Grima, called Wormtoung by the people of Rohan, really can't tell Saruman much he doesn't already know. He's been living in the tower of Orthanc for 2000 years. The Gap of Rohan was only gifted to The Hose Lords 500 years earlier. The Shire was given to the Hobbits by the King of Arnor 400 years before that kingdom fell. So the Shire has their home for 1500 years. Both Rohan and the Shire had been depopulated by war and disease. The Northern Kingdom and Gondor offered the lands because it put allies close at hand helping to protect its own borders.
Also, Tolkien wanted to demonstrate that not just The High Men and Elves could be brave and valiant . Regular people are vital to the fight, too. Hama the Doorward of Theoden's Hall knew full well what Gandalf was up to with his staff. Everyone feared for the king and Hama hoped that Gandalf and his small company might be the help Theoden so desperately needed.

The thing you should know about Gandalf. He is not a human. The Wizards are Istari, also known as Maiar. They are the same life-form as the Balrog, the big fiery demon. The Balrogs are "Evil Istari". The Wizards, being "Good Istari" were grouped in a sort of "Order" or Hierarchy. There were 5 Maiar sent to Middle Earth by the Valar, to help and counsel the free people of Middle Earth. They are Saruman The White, who is the head of the Order of Maiar. Then there was Gandalf the Grey, Rhadagast the Brown, and there were two Blue Maiar who did not play any part of these tales, so were never mentioned. The Balrog is a Maiar that was corrupted and made evil by a rebellious Valar known as Melkor. As I mentioned, they are not human, you can think of them like Angels. And yes, Gandalf The Grey was killed in his fight with the Balrog, but not being Human, death for him is a little different. When he died, he returned to Illuvatar and the Valar, and they sent him back to finish his task, and given an additional task when they made him The White. You can think of that as a "promotion" of sorts. He was sent back to "fire" or "demote" Sauron. Sauron being corrupted, was no longer worthy to be the head of the Order of Maiar. Gandalf was made the Head of the Order in Saruman's place, and Saruman was removed from his position, having betrayed his Order and his Color. When Gandalf returned as The White, his memory of the details that came before were lost and muddled. He basically had to relearn what happened, which is why he forgot he was ever called Gandalf (one of his MANY of his names, one being Mithrandir), and remembered it when Aragorn called him by the name.
Sorry for being somewhat long winded, but I hope it clears up a few things about Gandalf. Hope it helped.

Fun fact: the Dead Marshes was a battle field during the war we saw at the beginning of Fellowship. Legolas’ grandfather, Oropher, unwilling to wait for reinforcements from Gil-Galad, the high king of the Noldor elves and Elrond, and got himself killed. Before the sun and moon were even created, the elves first awoke in Middle Earth. The little g gods, the Valar, invited them to live with them in the Undying lands. Many accepted, but some did not. The Noldor are elves that came back to Middle Earth from the Undying lands at the very beginning of the First Age in pursuit of Morgoth, the first dark lord, and Sauron’s former boss. So the Noldor did not necessarily have the best relationships with the elves that never left Middle Earth. One of these clans of elves were the Sindar. Oropher, his son, Thranduil, and grandson, Legolas are Sindar elves who never went to the Undying Lands. They did not think highly of the Noldor, and chose not to wait for them, before charging Sauron’s mountain of orcs, and he and most of his company of Sindar elves were annihilated. The battle ground and bodies were taken over by the Dead Marshes. That’s why there is magic and evil in the Dead Marshes, both. Another great reaction. 💕👍🏼

Gandalf is (secretly) a maiar, a powerful holy spiritual being. He serves the Valar (demigods) and the Valar serve Eru (the creator god). Sauron (the flaming eye dude who created the one ring) is also a maiar - just one that has rebelled against the Valar. Gandalf's job is to guide the people of Middle Earth to fight against Sauron. Saruman also had the same job ... but he has failed because he has joined Sauron and started seeking power for himself. Gandalf's body died, but his spirit was sent back in a new body, until his job is done.

Origin story tells of elves being corrupted by Melkor (Sauron’s boss) in the first age , but further writings described them as being made from dirt. As enthusiasts we just kind of wing it. Donno if it's me or what... I keep seeing these scene's and they get to a part where most people like, but it's chopped up soo much I loose connection; here in TT I can only make it half way... Over and over and over and its with the Fellowship too. FYI: A consideration for YT edits is 'the music' - graphics can be left out or masked; same with audio. Part of the chopped issue might be that "I'm expecting to 'see' a story" but only get bits of any scene and no 'important'/'connecting' parts. Understandable that 'you want to save' the good reactions, etc. for your Ppeople, but you still need to give YTers something! Oh yes, YT is Thee Gateway to P! NOTE: Editing needs work. A lot of it and from Fellowship and here seem to be 'randomly broken up.' And at points in 'the story' when people are talking, only part of any word gets through. OH YES!!! It is very hard to do all this by yourself and we all apricate that!!! It can also be as hard or harder to go from one type of format to another. Thee most important part is: "This is YOUR Channel Man!" At this point I would recommend that after you finish Return of the King is to go look at some other YT Edits. Please note that some of them do have Professional Editors but don't be daunted by that! For one - this guy lol I'm really liking him and his Co-Pilots! @EOMReacts He's way different from you! lol About 6mo ago he did LotR. Ya need to connect us with you and the movie and draw us over, but you still need to satisfy YT. I see and feel that you have great potential here! Second that it wasn't meant to be funny makes it even worse otherwise it would be funny and show that you took Gandalfs words to heart.
Third what do you mean with real life? A life where i have mentor like Gandalf who told me that Gollums life is a sad story and he has yet to play a part in mine, i have a trusted friend like Sam at my side and i am armed with a sword? I would not have called him "it" in the first place.
Or in case you mean the "real" real life, i would have still restrained myself to minimal force self defense, because i am still the only one armed or killing him wouldn't be even an option.
And i still wouldn't have called him "it".
      You asked, i answered.
      Thanks for reading Bro

Yep, this is a proof how shallowly people think nowadays.

I'm sorry but, while his response didn't sound too tactful (to me), yours also come across as a distasteful claiming of the moral high ground, seemingly with the assumption that lessons taught or wisdom given in the past will save you or any of us completely from making mistakes. @@Exeler-genannt-Vogelsang

GANDALF IS A MIAR...HE IS THE SAME BEING AS THE BALROG WAS. A MIAR IS LIKE AN ANGEL BUT OF A LESSER KIND. THE BALROG USED TO BE MIAR JUST LIKE GANDALF BUT THEY BETRAYED ERU ELUVATAR THE "GOD" IN THIS WORLD NAD FOLLOW THE DARK LORD INSTEAD. SAORON WAS A VLAR, AN ANGLE OF HIGHER KIND THAN THE MIAR LIEK GANDALF BUT HE WAS FALLEN BECASUE OF HIS ARROGANCE. TOLKEIN PUT A LOT OF BIBLICAL REFERENCE IN HIS WRITING OF THIS BOOK. SO THEY TURNED IN TO A FALLEN ANGEL...LIKE DEMONS AND DEVIL. SO TECHNICALLY GANDALF CAN FIGHT THE BALROG BUT GANDALF WAS SEND BY THE GOD TO EARTH AS A GUIDANCE AND AS AN OLD MAN AND HIS TRUE POWER ARE BEING LIMITED , BUT HE STILL FACE THE BALROG/DEMON ONLY AFTER HIS DEATH THEN ERU THE GOD GAVE HIM LIFE BACK AND SEND HIM BACK TO MIDDLE EARTH WITH A LITTLE MORE POWER, BUT NOT AS MUCH AS POWERFULL AS HIS REAL SELF BUT AS A WHITE WIZARD TO REPLACE SARUMAN THAT HAS BEEN CORRUPTED NOW.
